Why that sot has a job is beyond me. Read his error-filled story on MU to Independence http://campuscorner.kansascity.com/node/2275 before it gets copy edited.

Love this:
Texas faced the same possibility, but the Aggies are going to the Big 12-tied in Heineken Bowl in Houston.

COLUMBIA – In what Missouri associate athletic director Mark Alnutt declared was not a matter of the Big 12 Conference working against SEC-bound Missouri, the Tigers the Tigers will return to non-Big 12 tie-in Independence Bowl.

In fact, both Alnutt and Missouri coach Gary Pinkel said Mizzou "chose" the Independence Bowl over a dwindling list of options that included the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl in San Francisco.

Alnutt said it was largely because Shreveport, La., is a 12-hour drive from Columbia, and close to Missouri's recruiting bases in Texas.

Many sources are reporting the opponent will be North Carolina, the Tar Heels’ 7-5 record matching Mizzou’s regular season finish. But Missouri said the ACC has asked for a delay in revealing it’s reprehensive until later this evening.

That delay is believed to be pending Wake Forest’s nailing down a bowl destination prior to North Carolina’s announcement.

It will be Missouri’s third trip to the Shreveport, La., bowl game in nine seasons. The Tigers lost to Arkansas 27-14 in 2003 and defeated South Carolina there 38-31 in 2005.

In the 2005 game, Missouri won despite trailing 21-0 and 28-1, the biggest deficit overcome in a victory in school history.

Iowa State has accepted a trip to the Pinstripe Bowl in New York City and Texas an invitation to the Holiday Bowl in San Diego.

With that lower-tier Big 12 bowls already filled, it seems likely the Big 12 knows it will get only league champion Oklahoma State in a BCS bowl.

That has lead to the Big 12 having one more bowl qualified team than bowl tie-ins. Hence, Missouri – with rancor all around the league against the Tigers for heading to the SEC – was likely squeezed out of the Big 12 bowl picture.

Texas faced the same possibility, but the Aggies are going to the Big 12-tied in Heineken Bowl in Houston.

The Independence Bowl will be played on December 26th, a 4 p.m. kickoff to be televised via ESPN2.
