I have never seen him report, but while I searched, I saw the YouTube video of him cracking up over dogs humping. Seemed like a funny guy and someone I would have watched on the news down here in tulsa.

Super secret inside source says Don's wife was cheating. Sucks that she ruined his/his daughter's life with her whoring.

Doesn't seem right. Husbands that are cheated on take out the wife of guy they are cheating with, not themselves. Dude had too much going for him for this to go down like it has. I smell a staged offing.

Harman with his wife and daughter lived in Woodbridge, a south Kansas City neighborhood where average home values in 2009 were $245,048 and the median household income $58,429. So from appearances anyway, he wasn't living wildly over his head.
What then might have caused Harman to hang himself from the rafters of his house while his family slept?
I'm not going to go into it here, but the talk in law enforcement is that Harman was spoken to by police very recently about the possible reopening a cold case crime in another city. If true, count on the news breaking fairly fast.
I'll be looking into it later today and try and report back as to whether there's any truth to that rumor.

I don't know what's more :horrorsurprise:, that Doppler Don may have killed that girl or that a homes with a value of $245,048 owned by families with an income of $58,429 can be passed off to the public as not living over your head.

That is the average income for the area. The logical assumption would be that Don was making more then 58,249 as a netowrk weatherman and TV personality in a decent sized city.

you don't know anything about local tv news paychecks, then. 58k seems pretty high, actually.

It's really all based on ratings and where your station sizes up in the market! I would imagine he was making 80k+

Huisentruit was an anchor at KIMT in Mason City at the same time Harman worked there before leaving in 1999 to come to Kansas City. Like Harman this week, Huisentruit failed to show up for work around 4 a.m. on June 27, 1995. She was never heard from again and declared dead in 2001.

not even close.

Yeah unless you anchor the 10 o clock news you probably get 45K tops. Bryan Busby would be closer to 80
-
i can tell you for a fact that larry hatteberg doesn't get anywhere near 100k, and he's a broadcasting legend. if that tells you anything about tv news salaries. unless you're in new york, la, or are national, you aren't getting a lot compared to the hours you put in.

this. he was like the 4th meteorologist on that station. 60k tops.

So your telling me that I know radio guys in the KC market who are making $55-75K, but a TV guy who was well liked wasn't sniffing that? This is Kansas City, not Edmond, Oklahoma!

apparently you know or worked in radio or something, so you know those things. i worked in tv at several different stations (one bigger than kc), and the money just isn't there, especially for meteorologists.

the 2 things that have been proven from this thread:
1) suicide is for losers and girl-killers
2) you get paid crap for working in media

We played this game at fanning MOAP 2.3, I believe Trim said we'd replay at MOAP 2.5! Be there or be square!

also, fwiw, edmond is a great place and very rich. pretty elite.
-
Having loaded up on suicide reading and feedback lately, the combination of severe depression and the holidays well could have played a role Harman's sad, lonely final act. Then again, sources say Harman was handsomely paid - six-figures - and given Fox 4's generally strong ratings and Harman's popularity with viewers, it would not appear - on the surface anyway - that finances were an issue.
Granted, it's from KC Confidential so take it for what it's worth.

The morning show he on was the highest rated morning show in Kansas City for years. I'm not all that tuned in on what TV people make but I know that Gary Lezak lives in the Links at Lions Gate right on the golf course and it would cost over a million $ for that house. This guy was making more then 58k .

Kinda surprising. I mean, why else does anyone still watch the rough ridin' news? If they wanted to be profitable again, they should just cut all the other crap out and call it The Ten 0'Clock Weather. Boom! Profit.

Horrible benefits.
I mean "Being badass" is obvs just something those at 810 told Soren he could be, not something he actually is. It's gonna kill him when he figures this out.
Also, yes....horrible money. Especially the KK guy. I mean, he owns the rough ridin' place and he is making $80-$100. Pfft. Hopefully this doesn't account for his 810Zone money.

It would take less than a day to research easy methods/procure helium. Though if you're gonna do it you should do it before all the helium is gone.

So did he kill some chick or not? This thread really needs to wrap that up...
