It really is time to Old Yeller the most overrated "rivalry" in college athletics.
The combined crowd wouldn't even have filled up ku Memorial Track, Field and Football Stadium.
-
That weather was terrible. Rained all morning, and then then high only got to the low 40's.
-
There were more people at the airport last night than in the KU student section.
Pretty sad, really.
-
Well it wasn't MU's fault. Those devoted fans turned out in droves (5,000 strong) to watch their top 15 college basktball program play Sunday in Columbia.
-
The ticket prices must have been too high.
-
When one team is 2-9 and the other team is 6-5, yeah, attendance is going to be down. Nothing like a nice butthurt "Mizzou and KU aren't rivals" thread from 'Pad to start the morning off right, though. Great stuff, as usual, 'Pad.

It was the final game in a rivalry that lasted more than a century. It was sad to see it go out on a whimper.

It went out, not as a whimper, but as the feeble, barely audible passing of wind that it was.

I doubt it's the final game of the Border War. We will play them again once the butthurt wears off a bit.

It's a butthurt that will last for over a century. People will talk about the intensity of this butthurt for years to come, that's for sure. It will be comparable to the Civil War reconstruction, only it will last longer.

I think you're wrong. Like, 100% full ret*rd wrong.
-
I was at the contest. Boone County Hill-Jacks showed up in full force. KU fans... about 12,000. Sad to see this rivalry end, as it has ties all the way back to the Civil Showdown (as you all know).

Yeah, you're right. The Union won the Civil War, and the Confederacy won the Border War, so reconstruction should go somewhat differently this time. We will just have to  and see how it all plays out.

Went to Arrowhead last night for the Chiefs game and overheard a couple guys from the cleanup crew in KU stocking caps royally angered up about how embarrassing the turnout was. One of the guys was absolutely livid - I guess they get paid by the hour for those things. Didn't even have to clean one side of the stadium from the sound of it.
Kind of sad when you think of the way this can affect peoples lives.
-
I was there and both crowds sucked. The game made Farmageddon look like the Superbowl.
-
ku vs mu: Only a "huge rivalry" if both teams are really good, otherwise, complete apathy on both sides.
ku vs mu: We hate each other so much 30,000 of us showed up dressed as stadium seats.
-
That game was rough ridin' terrible. An abortion of football. Two garbage teams trying to help their opponents win all day. They've played 117 games, and only 1 of them was worth a crap.

So, basically it was football weather?

The more I read and talk to others there, the more and more positive that there may have been more KSU fans there than KU fans.
I don't want to even consider how inflated the crowd was due to 'Cat, 'Clone, 'Husker, 'Bod and Griffon fans who made the trip out of curiosity. Heck, there may have even been a few Hornets (you could have spotted them as they would have gotten pissed pondering how they would have had a better chance playing KU than most of the Missouri teams in the MIAA).
Really said when all things are considered.
