Title: Super Super Committee
Post by: Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) on November 21, 2011, 10:51:50 PM

Anyone else think Congress and the President should create a Super Super Committee to help resolve the shortcomings of the Super Committee?

The Super Super Committee could un jam the Super Committee who in turn could un jam Congress who in turn could present a bill the President would pass.  If the Super Super Committee fails they could create a Super Super Super Committee or Super Super Committee Committee to un jam the Super Super Committee and so on.

Eventually they'll find a committee (other than Simpson-Bowles) to state the obvious, but who doesn't have to worry about reelection.  The obvious being, this country can't afford to pay for half of the current entitlement programs in place.

The only problem is, in the end, the President must sign the deal.  Problem with that is the President refuses to admit the obvious and won't sign the bill.  So this whole idea of a committee to solve another committees problem is completely futile and nothing but an exercise in partisan politics.   :flush: :flush: :flush:

The ideoligcal divide is simply too wide. There is only one way to resolve this: an election. We got halfway there in 2010, but the senatelandscape was extremely unfavorable for the GOP, and nothing could be done about the president. In 2012, the GOP can finish the job, and will then finally have the opportunity to implement the reforms that are needed, if they have the courage to do so.

That's a big if. Once the Dems are completely out of power, they can really switch into attack and obstruction mode. The demagoguery wll almost be comical, but for the serious implications.

Great point. Because the GOP was not fiscally responsible in the past, we cannot trust them to be fiscally responsible in the future and, in fact, the Democrats are obviously a better alternative.

Wait - now that I think about it for 2 seconds, that's actually a really stupid point, because our annual deficits now top $1.5 trillion, the GOP took back the House in 2010 based on a campaign of fiscal responsibility, and if the GOP takes back the Senate and White House in 2012, it will be based on the same campaign. In other words, the GOP will have one clear directive from the American people: get our fiscal crap in order.

Also, if you're going to make trite, idiotic points like this, please at least remember that the Democrats took control of both hosues of Congress in 2006.

For a collection of people so unified in their opposition and fear of religion, you'd think they'd noticed they've accidentally cultivated one of their own.  blind faith baby, they are the tools of ignorance.
