Agree on the :flush:. They can't take away the Big East's AQ bid fast enough
Virginia Tech is a national powerhouse and is back in the top five again this year. Lots of sour grapes in this thread.

Wrong, VaTech has never won a NC and plays in the ACC. Next

No more overrated than Oklahoma, or anyone in the Big 12 for that matter.

K-State has never won a national title in anything and plays in a depleted Big 12. You were saying?

The Sugar Bowl is in a worse stadium than the Orange Bowl, and I don't remember too many good games from that bowl recently, either. Incredibly enough, you guys are still butthurt about the fact that KU won a BCS Bowl in 2008. I love it.

Was winning the Orange Bowl really that great? Nobody even remembers it. Especially that since then you've:
HISTORY AWAITS: 7 game losing streak, 1-7 in Big 12.
Fired the only coach that did anything good
Hired Turner Gill. Not Jim Harbaugh.
Payed Lew millions, after he stole millions from your own fanbase
Hired Turner Gill.
Win 2 games per season
Give up record number of points and yards
Hired Turner Gill.

I often doubt if Beems actually watches college football.
4. KU won five games in '09, three games in '10, and currently has two wins this year. That averages out to around three wins per year. Not two. Take a math class sometime.

1. Nobody remembers it? Then why is it mentioned damn near every day on this piece of sh*t board?
3. Wow... KU hired Turner Gill instead of Jim Harbaugh. K-State hired Ron Prince instead of the other crap coaching candidates who applied for the job. Then you hired Old Balls instead of Gary Patterson. Congrats. This talking point would have KILLED in July. Not so much right now, though.

2. Mangino isn't the only coach who did anything "good" for KU football. Hell, Glen Mason was probably a better coach than Mangino, and had much less to work with during his time at KU.

5. Giving up a record number of points and yards just helps justify firing Turner Gill after only two years. I'm actually kind of glad we sucked hard instead of pussy footing around and keeping Gill for an extra year or two.
6. You said that already.
Anything else?
Where did Ben come up with this depleted Big XiI talking point?
How strange...

Not really sure. Last I saw, 8 of 10 Big 12 teams were bowl eligible with the 9th team 1 win away. Maybe all of college football is down and that's what he means. :dunno:

True, but the only reason so many teams are bowl eligible is because KU is so, so shitty this year. I don't think it is mathematically possible for 8 or 9 teams to be bowl eligible without KU going 0-9.
So, KU's shittiness does weaken the Big 12 - but the Big 12 is still the second strongest conference this year, by a wide margin.

Other than last year, the Sugar Bowl hasn't been competitive.
its kinda nice hearing a few tuck beakers defend there pile of crap football program, its a change from hearing them pretend like they don't give a crap because" ITS BASKETBALL SEASON"!
Here's a hint, fellas: the more you talk about KU's 2008 Orange Bowl, the more apparent it is that long-term psychological damage has been inflicted on your collective psyche. I love every minute of it. Please continue.

Credit where credit is due. Their magical run in 07 did include wins over the top 3 teams in the south (OU, UT and Tech). At least I think. Someone told me that their opponents combined record that year was 76-88. That can't be right. Ours thus far this year is 74-54. Something seems weird here.

That's what I thought, too, but it looks like KU actually played OSU, aTm, and Baylor in 2007, which were the top 3 teams in the south that year.

Texas lost at Texas A&M (where KU won) and at home to K-State (who KU beat in Manhattan) that year and finished with three losses. Oklahoma lost at Colorado (where KU won), finished with three losses, and got blown out by West Virginia in the Fiesta Bowl. Texas Tech lost at Oklahoma State (where KU won) and at home to Colorado (who KU beat in Boulder) and finished with four losses.
Please keep them coming.
Three out of the last four teams to play in the Fiesta Bowl are UConn, Boise State, and TCU.
:flush:
KU's Orange Bowl season was incredible. KU was an awesome, fun team to watch that year. I hated it at the time, but, looking back, it was a phenomenal season.
I bet Oregonhawk had the time of his life.

KU's schedule that year was comparable to a Conference USA team. Really no way to argue against that. The Big 12 was awful that year.
I'm sure beems is just trolling again (right?) but by using Beems' transitive property, K-State beat Colorado who beat Oklahoma who beat Mizzou who beat Arkansas who beat LSU, the eventual national champions.
Thus, K-State can claim a national title for the 2007-2008 football season

Yes. Remember when their fans transitioned from "we might be good enough to beat K-State" to "omg our helmet is on the gameday final backdrop" into "eff everyone bring on Bama! Bring on LSU!"
Just gave you goosebumps to watch them begin to believe.
