hard to hate Austin, TX. damn hard.
Aside from 6th street and UT's campus, I found Austin to be just disgusting.

Extremely wrong, not at all elite, very hayseed-y thing to say, clearly very uneducated in the ways of ATX.
-
Discovered after the game on sat that most kstate fans were hanging out on the wrong part of 6th.

Aside from 6th street, Austin is like if Lawrence and Topeka were merged.

Except for the incredible food and tons of live music and gorgeous scenery and obscenely rich people in mansions and tons and tons of other incredible things to do? You're right.

Food I had was mediocre and the waiter was strung out. Did not get to see Austin's music scene.
I saw far more homeless people than people that struck me as "obscenely rich." Even saw one gentleman eat a cigarette filter.
Granted, I was pretty intoxicated throughout the day, and we stayed in some cheap motel, but Austin didn't strike me as the cultural and college football Mecca it's made out to be.
Willing to admit that I may be completely wrong in my assessment.
-
College football mecca, no. BSFS gets louder every Saturday. Cultural mecca, yes. Texas hill country=beautiful. Houses=huge (Dell). Matthew McCauangauaughey=playing bongos naked.
-
dlew bringing some world-class dumbassery to this thread

The sheer number of homeless people is just shocking at first, and the traffic blows. You just have to deal with the traffic and ignore the homeless, though. I can't imagine not having a good time in Austin, TX.
-
it's very, very, very far down on the list of places i'd like to live.
unrelated: homeless people prefer warm climates, you dummies.

True, hawaii is full of homeless people.
Austin is top 5 on places I'd like to live. (in the US.)
-
Look at all these defensive Austintards.
This is exactly how Squawks react when people come away with a less than pristine impression of Lawrence.
DID YOU EVEN TRY TO CHECK OUT THE MUSIC SCENE?

Weren't Michael Bishop and Ell Roberson from the state of Texas? We can't hate it that much. Plus I'd rather hate Alaska anyways. Those bastards!

going to ut as an undergrad would have been amazing.
-

If Lawrence and Topeka had numerous high rise condo buildings, amazing weather, an awesome entertainment district, an elite lake, and a beautiful campus/stadium (filled with beautiful non-poor people) then you would be right, but neither of them has any of those things. Overall, Austin is an incredibly elite place that is home to an incredibly elite university.

Hate "America's Team," but other than that ...
