Will all of them be pulled out this weekend at Texas? I can't imagine anything else happening between two fierce rivals.
-
Got nothing else to save them for at this point. Dr. Scheme, please report to the operating room.
-
Q? Its Texas do we really need to? A! No, no we do not. Take a kick back for a touchdown have Klein run all over the place badabing badaboom.
-
I'd like to see Harper in the wildcat

I'd like to see Harper in the wildcat
It is an interesting thought, but I doubt we see it now, especially without Lockett/BSmith. More likely to see Snyder throw Lamur/Tuggle out there in some some special package.
Its sort of like what I'd like to see; Pease in the regular offense.
If we haven't seen it by now, Snyder probably isn't going to throw it out there.
That said, we will likely see some sort of gadget/trick play in Austin. Snyder had the toss pass with Pease dialed up last week, there will be another this week I'm sure.

fake punt

fake punt
Could be, but its a lot harder to fake (or block) punts with all these wide split punt formations that seeminly everyone uses now. UT did block one on Missouri last week though.
-
Yeah, we haven't even gone for a punt yet this year, have we?

Not really, but no one really goes after punts unless an opponent is pinned at their goalline. Wide split/spread punt formations have nearly eliminated the punt block (and in some ways fakes) from the game. But they are a good way to neutralize the return game.
The Big 12 numbers from the last 5 years:
Year Ret. Yards Avg. TD
2007 347 3469 10.00 10
2008 286 2976 10.41 13
2009 347 3531 10.18 9
2010 289 2389 8.27 6
2011 150 1204 8.03 2
Right now the punt coverage because of spread punt formations is controlling the return game, but like everything in football, return schemes will change and find a way to exploit it.
-
Haven't seen a downturn in punt return stats from our wild wild cats this year.
Would love to see a _Fan comparo between old school punt formations/new school spread punt formations and the implications/effects of such.
-
pretty sure RP figured out how to block a punt against a spread formation. I'm thinking MU at home.

Yeah it's still done, but not as often. I don't think people try to do it as much against spread formations. I don't have the numbers to back up my claim though, I certainly could be wrong.
-
I'm pretty sure we've had a punt blocked. Maybe just partially? Does that count? It seems like it would.
-
KU partially blocked one of ourz.
-
I did not mean to say punt blocks have disappeared from the game.
-
BUT WHY DID YOU SAY PUNT BLOCKS HAVE DISAPPEARED FROM THE GAME?
-
_FAN shown to be a lying liar once again. Sad...really.

"hey guys. i'm _fan. i call my little kid out on a public message board for the whole world to see and lie about football related facts".
-
"Look at me. Punts are never blocked anymore. Except when they are. I NEVER SAID THEY WERE NEVER BLOCKED ANYMORE."
:dunno:
-
Hey guys, I was just joking about _FAN. But seriously, we should save some of the stops for ISU. No, I was rough ridin' around again, we will beat their stupid asses by 70 without any stops. stupid tornados

Could this be the end?
Much like OK_cat in the Sandusky thread, I never thought this would be the thread everyone turned on him.

I was complementing RP more than disparaging FAN.

RP's special teams were fantastic. No doubt.
