Title: Sh*tty OOC games: How can they be fun?
Post by: fatty fat fat on November 18, 2011, 02:54:11 AM
1) Awesome dunks
2) Very small crowd (you can lounge near your seat, not wait in line, hear everything on the court)
3) I like a big win (25+). I don't agree that a close game vs a sh*tty team is very fun. It isn't. You are supposed to smash them, and be excited to see the new kenpom ranking in the morning (which is a ranking system that adores big wins vs sh*tty teams)
4) attending the game with good people that have a cardiovascular system enriched w/purple.
5) opposing team guy fouls out, and fakes out the students during the sit-down. I'm not going to lie, i love seeing the students get clowned with the "sit-down" game after game.
6) you attended the game for free. you are then able to "splurge" on concession because you got in for free

any others?

ball st 2000 was fun.

Western/Eastern Kty in 2004 was not.

Blowouts are key.

great list fatty.  also nice suggestions from steve_gerald, both make sh*tty non-cons fun.

add to the list-
1) people watching is much easier in an uncrowded OOD with less action on the court

2) going to the rec afterwards to play some pick up ball and incorporating some of the things you learned from the pros

3) no lines- anywhere.  zilch.

4) learning about the other coach and his players from some small school in BFE - some of their uniforms   others   - also wondering what they think of being in a legit arena and campus, and our students (especially what they think about our female cat fans  :fatty:  ).

At certain shitty OOCs, fanning brings his filly (philly?) and sits across the way.

you enjoy the game with the girl of your dreams on one side and a group of your best bros on the other.  there is another girl on the other side of your girl so she can have someone to talk to while you talk with your friends and not feel left out.  during some of the game you reminisce about past games and speculate on future opponents.  you get a large popcorn to share.  you all stick around to watch the frank post game show.  It was an afternoon game so the day is still very young.  plus it's saturday so no work/school the next day.

also, if anyone wants to pm me ood wifi access password info than i would more than likely read that pm, use the information contained within it at a later date and subsequently not tell anyone anything about it.

Used to be a public/guest one, but my phone hasn't found it this year.  :frown:

This is what I was talking about with my goEMAW suggestion of putting in wifi connection for goEMAW'ers at the OOD.  crap is slow in there.

I like throwing shout outs to my boys in other sections.  Like "Hey Gooch,  :bball:" and everyone can hear.

then gooch throws up a  :bball: and everyone smiles.  Or I throw a  :eye: to daris and he munches popcorn and pretends he doesn't see me.  it's great.l

if the game itself isn't enjoyable enough for you, you should really just stay home and should probably also get off of the boscopolis board.

should have had the student shooting contest where they have to run to midcourt and put on a huge uniform and huge shoes where the girl beats the guy 90% of the time (it seems like 90% of the time anyway).

Had a doozy of a "fun across the court and find your shoes then run back with them on" contest during the FHSU game.  Girl in heeled leather boots up to her knees beat a dude in athletic shoes.  Did enjoy.

Not only did she win, but she overtook him after he had quite a lead.   :surprised:

Hobknobbing it up in the Legends Room with Limestone and other elite donors at the halftime and then not going back because the seating is so comfortable and the premium liquor assortment and food offerings are so plentiful.
