Well considering his other properties are:

Shot Stop
Bomb Bar
Ale House

I would say it won't even be a competition.

Hibachi has seemed about the same to me. :dunno: I like the new setup since they got rid of Texas Star and moved the bar to the other side.

Yeah, the last good food addition to aggieville was the aj's extension. Doughboys is crap, cozy inn is meh, tasty china house will not only be awful, its totally unnecessary. Kaws will no doubt be bad.

I know hibachi isn't as good since the new owners took over, I'm not a dumbass.  Its something I've been trying to internalize since our summer meal there.

i can't really say what i want to say without it coming out kind of mean and i don't want to so here goes...

i like hibachi. if you gave me five or six restaurants in mhk, they would be there. it just used to be better.

i don't disagree that they've done nice things to the place. it's just kind of sterile now and part of what i liked about hibachi back was that it was the opposite of that. that's about as nice as i can be. also, the quality seemed to be a little off the last few times i ate there. could've just been a bad kitchen day. i've probably eaten in aggieville twenty times in the last three months and i've gone there probably four of the times, so it's not like i hate them now or something. still good and i'll continue to go.

i also really think they should've kept hibachi as hibachi and turned t-star into a place that people would want to go to. seems like they said "hmmm, hibachi does decent. tstar doesn't. let's make it all hibachi". so long didn't double their space and make a so long back yard. they made an entirely new restaurant and called it taco lucha. it will absolutely kill. hibachi should've done that. be foreward thinking. be innovative. make it nice. make it interesting. find/create a niche. it's freaking aggieville, the niche doesn't have to be all that good or even all that innovative. taco lucha isn't some crazy idea. it's been done a million places. just not in aggieville and it's a good aggieville concept.

add that new bar that they did, but keep the hibachi bar as well. you want people drinking and you want them staying late into the night and drinking. nobody is going to do that in the new hibachi hut cavern. you want it to be exclusive. you wan't to have people wait to get a table (more exclusive/more booze ordering). don't penny pinch here and there and everywhere. takes money to make money. basically all that stuff. i think they are cutting corners in some ways w/ their current business and missed a good oppy to do something better.

love it. let's try and open it up by getting people to pitch in money and then donate a percentage of sales to ksuwildcats. also, sorry to all for my long hibachi post. i am to aggieville restaurants as panjandrum is to conference realignment and deep down i care about the hut a lot.  :frown:

Very good. Tacos are very unique. They have 6 different tacos such as steak & bleu cheese, buffalo chicken, slayer (which is spicy) and each one is about $2.50. Didn't have one that I didn't like. The burritos look amazing, so I'll be trying one of those next time.

Last time I invited you to something, you said no. Still a little torn up about that. I ended up sitting by all by myself at the game Monday, which is half your fault, and half _FAN's fault. But then _FAN confessed that he's been hanging out with squawks, so I guess I'm really more mad at him than you.

Very good. Tacos are very unique. They have 6 different tacos such as steak & bleu cheese, buffalo chicken, slayer (which is spicy) and each one is about $2.50. Didn't have one that I didn't like. The burritos look amazing, so I'll be trying one of those next time.
bleu cheese tacos oh dear :frown:  buffalo chicken? jfc :flush:

well I'll be trying all of them and pumping out a peggy po's/nancy neg's.

I'll be trying as well. It sounds really good to me.

Burritos are good. I had the streak and cheese, and it was about 80% streak on the inside. The rest was fajita style onions and peppers, plus cheese sauce. One neat touch was that the burrito was smothered in 3 separate sections: salsa, queso, and guacamole. Very tasty, large portion, but not to the point that size was the major feature. Will be trying a taco assortment next time.

Very dissapointed with the salsas guys. Not gonna lie, it wasn't very good. Not used to pineapple in my salsa.

Tacos were a little meh as well.

3 jalapenos out of 5 in my book. Didn't blow my doors off like I thought it would have. But I'll be sure and catch some drinks down there with the fellas. It has a nice drinkers feel to the place.

i'll try...

setup is great. they share the kitchen w/ so long. good sized bar. good tv situation. similar number of available seats as so long, but longer and a little narrower it seemed. decor and everything is just great. very comfortable place to hang out.

three different salsas and around six different tacos. got the salsa sampler. one is w/ pineapple which i wasn't really feeling. to sugary, just did not like. the other two were ok. quickly glanced at the menu and ordered three tacos based on the meat and stuff and didn't pay attention to the fact that a couple of them came  w/ the pineapple salsa on them.  i'm sure you can get them to sub salsas and i'll do this when i go back next time. that part is my fault. also, only one shell instead of two so that by the time i got to my third taco it had soggied up the whole thing and fell completely apart when i tried to pick it up. no rice available which seemed a little odd. maybe not though. avg to less than avg beers on tap. tacos are all a different price which isn't bad necesarily, just weird when you see them on the menu and one is like 2.25 and the other is like 2.55. just make them all 2.50 and call it a day. has only been opened a week and it will do great especially when the weather is decent. the patio is just insanely nice.

i probably just had hopes up too high and really wanted some more basic ingrediants and tradional taste type options. i knew they'd do buffalo chicken and things like that but was hoping for other things as well i guess. it's ok and most people will probably really like.

I ate there again on Tuesday.  I really liked the tomatillo chips and salsa - very spicy.  Had the pork wings and a fish taco for my meal.  I was somewhat underwhelmed by the pork wings, although the tinga sauce was delicious.  The fish taco was pretty good, although nothing that wowed me.  My brother's lady friend ordered the nachos, which were awesome.  Tons of food for the $7.5 price, smothered with lots of pork chili and other nacho-y things.  'Lil bro got the steak and cheese burrito on my reccomendo and really liked it.

Biggest complaint is the ultra-narrow selection.  Its just 5 (I think) types of tacos, 3 burritos, and appetizers.  Also only 4 beers on tap from what I could see: Blvd Wheat, Dos Equis, Bud Light and I think Mich. Ultra.  Drink prices are really high (at least for Aggieville / Manhattan) too.  $6 for a pint glass margarita, and I think it was $4 for Blvd and Dos Equis. $2.50 Tecate is the only "deal."

That said, the atmosphere is great, and I know that some of the food is really good.  Watched the second half of the bball game there, and they had it on all the TV's and the speakers and the sight lines seemed pretty good from anywhere in the place.

Still will be going back, although not as impressed as the first time.

It was alright.  Agree that it'll be a lot of fun in the summer.  For some reason, I thought I'd seen an Omari tweet on our way up to MHK talking up the buffalo chicken tacos, but I'm not seeing it now.  As a loyal EMAPE, when what I thought was Omari gives advice on what to eat, I follow it, 'clams be damned.  Had that and the carnitas.  Working close to a spot in Wichita with an abundance of street taco trucks, it was nothing special, but a nice addition.

An egg on a burrito just sounds too crazy for the straight-laced tastebuds of this EMAW.

The egg isn't noticeable, I literally didn't know it was there.  It was essentially a chorizo bomb.  The best part of BEAST is that they serve it with chips and a dip that comprised of cheese, sauce, and a shredded meat, I think chicken :dunno: it was good though.

Hm.  Sound pretty good...

HOWEVER, the egg still kind of freaks me out.  I'd bet I could ask for it without the egg.

Just kinda skimmer this thread but I have 2 things to say:  I love eggs in burritos.  Like breakfast burritos.  I also love over easy eggs on enchiladas.  Something about the yolk mixing up with the sauce and also the contents.  :lick:  Thirdly:  I pretty much just love eggs in general.  (On a hamburger!)

I'm not a big egg guy, but I do love breakfast burritos too and that's why I ordered BEAST.  It was nothing like a breakfast burrito, like I said its just like seemingly a pound of chorizo wrapped in a flower tortilla with some kind of magic sauce on top of it.

How was the service? I went for dinner a couple weeks ago and it was quite possibly the worst service I've ever had. The food we ordered was definitely good though.

Got THE BEAST! today. Incredible. The egg was amazing on it. They use an aioli sauce, I assume red pepper, in the burrito that may be one of the best sauces I've ever tasted. Just great all around.

agree with Stevsie. Got the Beast tonight and was not disappointed. The egg really made it imo. There may have been too much of their homeade sausage or w/e you call it in there. And i don't think i got the dip MIR referenced. I just got chips. Either way it was still great. Will get the Cheese Steak Burrito next time.

I assume the chips were for the cheesy, saucy stuff on the plate with BEAST.  The cheesy saucy mixture was substantial enough to use all of my chips on and still have plenty of the burrito.  There is quite a bit of chorizo, probably too much, wish the inside of BEAST was more diverse, but its a good meal and I'll likely not eat anything else there given the mixed reviews of the tacos.

damn, you're probably right about the dip. I was just so intimidated by it I didn't think it through.

Interesting, just saw this, did you go?  I ate there for the first time today at around 12:15.  I thought it was really good, haven't been to Aroy Thai to compare though...

Expensive for lunch I guess, but not too expensive, 2 of us split 2 $10 items and have some leftovers.
