I was surprised there wasn't a rep for the Cotton Bowl there though. They seem to be the best fit for us if we win out and is the Bowl I'm pushing for the hardest.

Spoke with Insight/Fiesta rep.  They are dying for us to Insight against OSU/PSU.

Cotton bowl reps have been present for at least one of our games already.

Cotton Bowl rep will probably be at the CTR this weekend.

the main rule you guys need to know about bowl reps.  the fact that they are in mhk watching our game means nothing.

we could implode the next two games and I'd still be disaapointed in the Insight. It is a horrilbe sucky bowl.

Assuming we beat ISU, Alamo is our worst case scenario.

You should also understand that bowl reps aren't always people who make the decisions.  Many (most) times they're just guys who are on the board of donors that meets once a month and gets a red jacket.

Bowl reps are in it for the free food and travel.

it still comes down to BCS pairings...but if KSU beats UT...we're a Cotton lock...

I'd even be ok with the Alamo.....just not the Insight. dear gawd

Insight is much improved.   I would attend either though....Cotton I'd be all over.

This is exactly right, and many times those meetings are by conference calls...

My uncle was a fiesta bowl rep when we went in '03.

KCFDcat and friends got sweet box tickets to that game, plus lot's of other perks. (free watches, nike apparel, etc...) gocho:

I can't imagine many bowls are "dying" to have PSU.

would probably be the biggest TV audience outside of the NC game, but I don't want to hear about Joe Pa for 3 hours while I'm watching my Cats, so no thanks to PSU

The Insight may not be as bad of a choice...

Bowl Game (2011-12 Projected Payout)

 Any BCS? $34?000,000,
 AT&T Cotton Bowl ($7,250,000)
 Insight Bowl ($6,650,000)
 Valero Alamo Bowl ($6,350,000)
 Bridgepoint Education Holiday Bowl ($4,150,000)
 New Era Pinstripe Bowl (*$3,600,000)
Meineke Car Care Bowl of Texas ($3,400,000)

From a school payout the Insight (Fiesta) Bowl is good to go. I just know we'll have at least double the following if it's a "Texas" Bowl game  then going to Tempe..... But as long as we can Have more purple in the stands then our Opponent, then it's a good fit IMO.

No, it's how they lurch dinners, drinks, gifts, golf/spa, sex, etc. from our admins.

Clearly remember feeling ultra elite when I bartended at rock-a-bellys and seeming the Orange Bowl reps hob-knobbing with some of the coaching staff Friday night before a game (can't remember which game though, I was very drunk while at the KSU)

Alamo Bowl is now Big 12/Pac 12.  Insight and Car Care Bowls are the only Big 12/big 10 matchups.

Our best hope is that OU gets absolutely curbed by the Pokes. that should put us in position to sneak into the fiesta. hopefully.

Don't all the Big 12 schools split bowl revenues evenly after travel expenses have been covered, anyway?

This.

These are just boondoggles for these people.  They all claim that they need to go everywhere and watch games and get wined and dined. In reality it means less than nothing, when it comes to who they will pick.

I think that Schulzy will channel this wild man from his youth and get us a better bowl than we deserve.
