Just opened today. V big. Nice looking.
-
I was going to dress up as him for halloween but do you know how hard it is to find a scythe in this town.
-
Heard it sucks. Also, lots of people butthurt about the dress code.

I hope you're billing the Aggie Biz Assoc. for consulting fees.
-
Was there for a bit last night. Did not suck. Many drinks were had. The front side will probably be pretty nice for watching sports.
-
sounds rough ridin' amazing
-
They hyped it up really well. Pretty nice, chill, etc. But like any bar, the atmosphere will be made by the type of crowd it draws, not the layout of the building.

I've only seen pictures, but it looks as if the eating/sitting down area is really nice buy then there's a huge rough ridin' empty space right by that. That would be like eating in an empty barn. But I'll reserve judgement till I actually go (this weekend?!?)
-
My lord, the JK's opening night facebook album looks like kunights.com :horrorsurprise:
-
Was enormous. Just walked through to check it out. Front part is a normal-sized bar, probably the same size as the front part of Pat's or something. But then you go through a door to the back and it's just a mass of people dancing and it was super crowded and I felt like I had walked into an alternate universe. Probably will watch sports in the main room at some point.

rumblings of a strong goEMAW connection
-
I went there last night and had some fun. Heard that the costume contest got kind of weird.
-
I heard it was pretty frattastic!
-
It's got a huge empty dance floor. Seems like there's half a dozen of the exact same place in Aggieville now--trying to re-create Lucky's. Pats on Thursday was the one exception playing pretty decent music. I really like what they've done in there.

Pat's is just awful now. Music is insanely loud.
-
pats has always been awful minus the first couple weeks it opened. sorry 'seeds, truth hurts sometimes, especially when you don't realize it.

Very good spicy sausage + pulled pork sammies though.
-
Worked at Pats. Was under extremely shitty management until about a year ago when the Bobby T people bought it.
-
townies, where is this place in aggieville?
-
Very near if not right next to Ballard's, right?

Right.
-
What was there before? A deck (with $1 nat bottles) its required for any recreation of Lucky's
-
listen you old balls, nobody is trying to recreate shitty luckys. JFC.
-
you know how ballards was kind of like two different buildings? one side with shoes and stuff and the other with the printing business and stuff? jkaws is where the shoe side used to be (i think). anyway they did a pretty good job and that backroom is huge. the fact that they don't currently have food and won't for at least another month combined with how big and open that back area is gives me some concern that it is trying to out tubby tubby's which is fine but i was hoping for a good version of kites and i don't think we're going to get it. oh well.

Some of the best wings in the 'Ville. 1/2 price on Monday. I like Pat's setup since it changed almost a year ago, but holy rough ridin' crap they play awful music way too loud on the weekends.
-
Pat's was great for $2 pitchers. That was about all it was ever good for though.
-
Johnny Kaw's is business in the front, party in the back.
-
do the same people own JK's who own shot stop, Drinx, and the ale house? that group has been on a rampage opening bars recently

Yes.

Yes.
Except they don't own drinx
-
Thank god because that piece of crap Ed Hardy manifestation (with a totally badass X in its name!) is super embarrassing.
-
Q 2. Are the same people who now own ale house the same people who made it into a bar with the dog that had the spiked collar, then changed it like 6 months later, then changed it again??????

yes, although I believe it went straight to being tanks tavern to the ale house. but I could be wrong.
-
Yes. Tank was a real dog too. And Tanks was a bar for a little over a year, IIRC. Then they tore it apart and made it into Ale House which is much better IMO.
-
Tank's minor night. I mean, was there a better era to be a freshman at K-State? I think not.

While we're on the topic of bars in Aggieville, tell me about this new Mojo's Island Bar that is in the new brick building east of Cozy Inn.
-
I think some people on this board need to take a class on how to properly quote someone else on a BBS. Good freaking grief. :flush:

Don't know. Wrong thread maybe. Was speaking to you, tho.

So far the only report I've heard was from someone who enjoyed it, but complained of "sugar belly" due to the extreme sweetness of the islandy drinks. He then proceded to puke in the alley behind porter's. FWIW, porters was still serving tacos at the time.

not for another month at least.
-
Really should have opened with food available. Not surprised, but still.
-
The fact that people go to bars to dance out on a dance floor is super weird.

Dancing is just the dumbest, I agree.
-
Went to mojos last night. Overall, I enjoyed it.
-
I heard from a source (B) that the guy that runs the place ran into some problems and got in a little over his head. After all, Kaws was supposed to open in August.

sounds reasonable. he's always behind on opening dates, but if you expected to have 2 more months of revenue than you actually get, it'd be that much harder to pay the bank.

Joe's minor every night.
Seriously, nobody ever carded at that bar.

Yeah, this is his first bar that's taken a lot of investment. Shot Stop and Bomb Bar probably cost about $3 combined to open. This one took a lot of work and money.
-
Luckily for him, his parents fund it all.
-
MOAP2.2 rolled over to Kaw's for about 2 minutes. Did not like. Tortuga wanted to fight the shitty DJamer.
-
:frown: for the Kaw legacy. They should start a brewery on the roof or something so people come for the Kaw beer and not stupid dancing.
naming ideas:
BrewKawKAW
Johnny Kaw Stout and Tall
-
Rumblings of a goEMAW connection debunked.
-
For what it is, Kaws does a good job.
