Just trying to talk sense. 2 touchdown underdogs. Stoops incredible record after a loss. This isn't 2003.
-
I just hope the game is close and is a good game if we lose. blowout loss, I'll be pissed :chainsaw:
-
I'm usually more pissed after close losses.

What does big D stand for? Aside from Dallas and Divorce in the Mark Chestnut song.
-
Pragmatically, an OU win on Saturday would hurt us in the long run.

Stoops is incredible after a loss because he never loses at home, thus making it nearly impossible to lose 2 straight.
Until now
-
I need something pleasant right now at this point. So that means the Cats will deliver.

FWIW, I live with BigDcat and this little Texan has never been more excited for a game. He may try and act tough on this bbs, but in real life, he's super optimistic.

Hadn't beaten a BCS team on the road in the OOC since 2001.
Hadn't beat Missouri since 2005.
Hadn't won at Tech since 1997.

I have to say that my gut is saying loss, with the possibility of a big loss. :frown: I won't feel too bad if we keep it single digits.
That being said... the season up to this point has been -- well, magical. I've learned that this team is not one to bet against. We always come mentally prepared, don't get rattled, and battle hard all the way. If we pull this out, it will definitely be six shades of sweetness.

I've bet against this team so far, and I'm not jinxing us by changing now. We'll lose by 20+

Me too, which means we'll probably lose by 30+

I've had a feeling in my gut all week that ksu will stomp ou's ass. :dunno:

It's amazing to think how much that OU has been put on a pedestal this season. WOW, I mean WOW congrats guys on beating a 3 loss Florida State team by 10, they're not even the best team in the state of Florida! Look, I'm not buying any of this OU blowout crap, they got outplayed and out coached by a better Texas Tech team. I watched the same game everyone else did. In all seriousness, at the end of the year OU might finish 5th in this conference behind K-State, OSU, A&M and Tech.
If OU gets outplayed at home and lose to the same team we beat by 10 in Lubbock, why all of a sudden does that equate to a 20 point blowout loss by K-State in Manhattan? Seriously some of us need a reality check. We're good, OU is good but not great, this will be close on Saturday and I think our guys are prepared and focused and will win behind the great leadership of the The Chamber. :)

Also, OU let KU hang around for a half and didn't exactly destroy MU (and got down early). This is a good team, but clearly not the preseaon #1 they were made out to be. Very beatable and its not like anything they do will be a surprise. We've played spread, fast paced offenses and their defense is solid, but we can move the ball. I was actually surprised that their return game wasn't better, ours isn't only better, its a lot better.

I think a passing qb is the only thing that can really gash OU's defense. We aint got one. We'll lose by quite a bit. Saying that we beat Tech @ and Tech beat Ou @, therefore, we dominate ou is pretty errant. Tech matches up better, ou slept.

I agree the Tech comparison has flaws because we are such different teams, but there is no evidence to think we simply can't run on OU. OU's rush defense is solid, but not dominant. Plus, they haven't faced many teams that commit to running the football and none that run the variety of option and power football that we do. They may stop us, but there is nothing going in that indicates to me that OU will be able to completely shut down our running game. Nothing.

As long as we can run well enough to force OU to bring an extra defender into the box, we will be able to pass somewhat effectively. I think this will happen. If OU can stop the run with only 7 players, we will not only lose, but I think it will get ugly.

Box in a box so he cant be in the box?

yeah, we lose this game pretty bad. probably a good thing it's not a gameday game.
-
Tech really torched OU's best CB (Jamell Fleming) , who is doubtful to start Saturday. Having a big game from Lockett and Harper will be huge.
-
OU has taken the genes from Tom Landry and combined them with Jerry Jones. Is there any doubt he won't be the next Todd Marinovich? :ohno:
Zero chance for us in this gameu.

We're are going to get crap stomped and then will have to endure all the talk about how we're overrated and a fluke etc..... :users:

Until now
Robert Griffin hadn't thrown an INT before coming to Manhattan, if I recall.

How do you think our zone read, zone blocking schemy type stuff will translate against the smallish, albeit quick/fast, OU front 7?

Missouri and Baylor looked pretty big up front :dunno:
KU/EKU/KsU seemed small and slow.
TTech was tiny
I want some analysis!!!

That was bad, not what I expected. The inability to bring any pressure from our front four, plus our inability to consistently block their defensive ends killed us. That was just ugly.
