this is amazing....
completion pctg
RG3 - 78.0
Landry - 65.3
yards per completion
RG3 - 13.73
Landry - 12.88
TD/INT
RG3 - 22/2
Landry - 21/7
Rushing offense
Baylor - 208 ypg (5.1 ypc)
OU - 166.6 ypg (4.7 ypc)
Rushing
RG3 - 295 (4.1 ypc)
Landry - 22 (1.6 ypc)
So Landry throws a LOWER completion pctg and doesn't throw as far down the field on most completions. RG3 is amazing. He has spectacular mobility whereas Landry is statuesque. Baylor has a better running game (probably because they have a more physical OL).
Now, we forced RG3 to beat us from the pocket and he could not have had a better game against us. We took away his running game and contained him well. Brought reasonable pressure on him. After facing RG3 and an insanely good Seth Doege on the road...they got 35 and 34 pts on us, respectively. Both Baylor and Tech are as good or better than OU on 3rd down and both are BETTER in redzone opportunities. By game 7 you are who you are and there really isn't going to be much improvement...especially when you have a bunch of vets like OU. I just don't see them getting more than 28-31 pts on us in our home park...especially if we don't turn the ball over.
The question becomes...can we score more than 28-31 because OU definitely has a better defense than Baylor and Tech. I say that but OU has surrendered over 1,100 yards and 69 pts to Mizzou and Tech, combined, on their home field.
If we get a special teams TD and/or some short field opportunities off of turnovers and move the chains well then I say our chances are very high.

The question is will I stop to check Jersey numbers before I curse Hartman after a long Stills TD catch.
No. No I will not. And should it be proven that it was someone else, I will still continue to blame Hartman years later, much how I do Mastrud for all those fumbles against Okie State and CU that I have accepted as articles of faith for why we lost those games.

interesting.....we are a pretty good team. i mean, yeah we gave up 580 to tech, but they had the ball with a chance to win it, and they couldn't get a single first down.

It's too bad there's no statistic for clutch defense. If so we'd be up there

I know this really doesn't say anything while saying something. It just seems every game, every aspect of this team, is AS good as it needs to be, and makes plays WHEN they are needed. Nothing more nothing less, just good enough to beat everyone. We're not show-offs.

What worries me is us turning the ball over, it seems like every game we've had a couple fumbles that have taken a good bounce and we've been able to recover with little to no harm done :ohno:

I know, right? We gotta be setting some kinda record for that.

OU seems to get off to slow starts in their games this season, down 24-7 against tech- played terrible in the 1st half against ku- florida state. I think that if this game is close at halftime, with the adjustments the ksu coaches have been making this season in the 2nd half- ksu has a good chance of winning.

We need to send 5 every play after Landry. They dont run well, and we can fluster Landry into a pick or two.
GOTTA convert Turnovers into points. no field goals, touchdowns.
We can't get burnt deep by stiles.
special teams has to play big, im looking at lockett for a touchdown retun and hopefully a block by someone

Disa-rough ridin'-gree. We send 4, play zone all game.

In the Eastern Kentucky game we had 5 fumbles and lost 4.
Since then, we've had 9 and lost 0.
Think we practiced the loose ball drill much in the off week?

This thread gives me a warm EMAW feeling. I approve (and am inclined to agree).

We didn't pressure RG3 much until late. Tech played zone on OU all night long.
