Don't do it guys. We are better than that. And Turner deserves some respect.
-
I was thinking about this the other night and decided we definitely should not do it, even though it will be very easy and anyone who did it could definitely get away with it and have a lot of fun.

Just because something is easy and hilarious doesn't mean it should be done. I am assuming we won't even touch them.
We have passed ku long ago.
-
I don't think I could bare to see Turner's face if we had done such a thing.
-
Already did that when I was 21, no reason for me to do it again. As for you young whipersnappers I would be all :horrorsurprise: :emawkid: if you did it for old times sake.
-
If Mitch is on the radio call and he says something about winding it on up or betting the farm, we HAVE to do it.
p.s. Come back Mitch :crossfingers:

I for one think it absolutely should be done. Enjoy it, bask in it, etc.
You only go 'round this crazy merry-go-round once.

Doing so would nullify a win and give us 14-1-1 rather than 15-1.
so...no, denied.
KU should def do it though.
-
There is absolutely nothing anyone would do about it and you will get off scott free but that doesn't make it right. No matter how much of a hero your friends think you are. Just say no.

There is a simple cost/benefit analysis that I hope every young KSU fan makes before tomorrow's game.
Would you be able to tell your kids/grandkids that you threw a :lynchmob: in the face of ku on their own turf and got off scott free? Sure, you would undoubtedly would.
But would you be responsible for a good, God fearing man being sad? Most likely. You gotta do the math guys.
-
Ultimately, KU fans are our Kansas brothers. Do you want to be personally responsible for making them as a fanbase look like absolute dogshit? Think about that.
-
Sure it would be fun for a mob of pak'd up cats to carry the torn down goal posts to Potter's Lake and throw them in. But the next week a bunch of KU workers would have to work extra hours on a monday evening fishing them out. Think about what you are doing before you act cat fans. :nono:
-
Some people just don't get the concept of Team. State. Conference. Sad, really.

yes

Could be tempting though, just think by the end of the game we'll outnumber the few diehard KU fans that are still there. JUST SAY NO FOR GOD's SAKE!!!

Overlooked point. They invite us into their quaint stadium, allow us to be the majority of fans there for free and basically treat the game like a home game but you want to humiliate them AND add to their work load?
WTF guise? I will pretend we never met, thank you very much. :clac:
-
Sure, you could look like heroes with thousands of K-State fans cheering you on from the stands. And yes, after tearing the eff out of their field you could head down to Mass Street for celebratory beers at Abe and Jakes, take shots with your emaw bros at Brothers, then tear up some pizza at the Wheel. But what about what you're leaving behind? You'll have Jayhawk fans watching you with tears streaming down their eyes.
Do you want that Wildcat fans? Do you?

Not to mention them giving us an opportunity to watch the #11 team in the country play a football game in the state of Kansas for a low, low rate of only $80. Some people just don't appreciate anything.
-
It's like at some point you have to just be the better man...ya know? The fact that there is nothing they can do to prevent it, AND the fact that you'll suffer zero negative reprocussions for doing it, makes it all the sweeter that you did NOT do it.
It's like on Schindler's list when Ray Fines character, the camp director, decides to "pardon" a jewish dude instead of blasting him in the face. If you were the director of a camp full of jayhawks, would you pardon them or blast them in the face?
-

Hey now. Cats fans will always support Lawrence businesses when necessary. It's not just what 1%ers do.....It's what Kansans do :kstatriot:
-
Do men/women lust after men/women who do things like this? Unquestionably. Does it make it right? No. No it doesn't.
-
I hope all you Cat's fans in attendance this Saturday aren't persuaded to embarass our university by tearing down the goal posts. First off, I know fun is just fun, but you have to think of the bigger picture here. If you guys stoop to this level there is NO DOUBT you'll get on Sports Center, but is that the kind of attention we want here and K-State University, the first public university and flagship university of Kansas? We have to say no to temptation, even though the upsides outweigh any imaginary downsides.
-
I really enjoy the sportsmanship EMAW is showing in this thread. I've gotta tell you, not many people would pass up the opportunity of a lifetime to do something so incredibly rare, with no reprocussions. Possibly a life changing moment, something that will put you in the history books. Absolutely no risk, unlimited reward. Does it make it right though?
-
I swear to Christ if any K-State fan dresses up like a ref and tries to duplicate the mayhem from last nights AZ-UCLA game I will be infuriated!! That kid is now a star/legend on campus and got away scott free. I'm begging you, DON'T THINK ABOUT DOING THIS!
Especially if you're going to do something Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) like have a couple of chickens (preferably dead) you let loose at midfield that are stuffed in your ref pants that you decide to take off right before you get tackled by some punk KU player.
-
right before you get tackled by some punk KU player.
You would have to be ungodly slow to get tackled by a KU player

Know for a fact one post is still in there from last time we did it. They found it when they dredged all the muck outta the bottom of the lake but wont remove it for nostalgia's sake (and cost)... I say we crush the turkey buzzards while they are down and add another

I have a football record. One time in college, I tore down the opponent's goal posts and figuratively stabbed them with it. I'm on the only guy that ever did that.

Pretty sure some Texas Tech fans literally tried to stab some aTm fans with a section of goalpost one time. Well maybe not stab, but they definitely rammed some people.
Damn Trim, beat me to it
-
One of the best moments of my life of KSU Football was the goalpost in Lowrentz in '94. I'm glad I was able to participate in such a grand experience.
-
If you have to wear some crimson and blue to scam a $20 ticket from a Jayhawker, just know that a Jayhawker probably wouldn't scam a ticket from someone. Probably.
-
We all love our team, okay, that much is understood. And ripping down the goalposts in Lawrence will obviously whip our players into such a motivated frenzy of EMAW that they will destroy OU on national television and be the talk of the country but at some point it's just a game. Let's keep our winning between the lines this saturday.
-
Is this thread for serious? Who is even talking about doing this?

If any of you kids go down onto that field and tear down those squawks goal posts I will personally join you and give you all high fives. EMAW!

Mods, please delete all messages like this. Also, any posts that offer to buy students beers if they tear down the posts or offer to enshrine them in the Awesome Emaw hall of fame. We don't need this negative feedback.

Well, I guess this Limestone party pooper won't get any of my beers after the game. I usually give everyone who visits my tailgate a free natural light or keystone, but I will give anybody who tears down those squawk posts Busch Light!

That pain you feel in your lip is the hook...

Unfortunately there is a small faction of cat fans; Those fueled by amazing football, who will stop at nothing to make us all appear classless, rabid and insane. While it may be an incredible spectacle to behold. One which will be replayed coast to coast the following week on ESPN GameDay and would be talked about for generations to come, it just isn't the right thing to do. Hopefully cooler heads prevail.
You may have to take a leadership type role here.
-
Just wanted to say that I participated in a goal poast party at the end of a key nationally televised victory back in the mid 90s. And yest, a camera man was onfield, and yest, I still have the VHS shot he got of me running past the camera, shirt ripped off and swinging in the air above my head, and yes, I did make sports center.
But the shame and regret I feel to this day far outweighs being immortalized on SportCenter.
-
I am really confused as to what is going on in here.

Don't tear down the goalposts tomorrow, despite being a hero and having scores of beautiful women throwing themselves at you. It's respect, I guess is what i'm saying.

I was talking about doing this.
I've been going back and forth all day, but after reading a thread like this, I've decided to be gracious to our hosts.
-
Think of how amazing it will be to see their goalposts torn down in dramatic HD on the next The Gridiron!

Tech/A&M? :surprised:
Wasn't that a Tech home game? I seriously don't know if any other school has ever sacrificed their honor for short-term glory and torn down the goalposts on an opponent's field.
-
Never mind. We weren't even the first. At least we aren't alone in that hall of shame:
After the 1987 game, Pirate fans stormed the field at Carter-Finley stadium and tore down N.C. State’s goal posts.

Wikipedia says some classless Kansas State fans tore KU's goalposts down in 1969 as well. I'm glad our prestigious university has done its best to sweep this under the rug. Unfortunately in this day and age, with the national media swinging on our every move, we would never be able to pull this off without it being blasted all over ESPN for the next week in promotion of a matchup between 2 top 10 ball clubs.

See? Your studliness will be forever be captured for future generations to admire/worship but you will ultimately have to answer to the ku fans who work for you later in life and, trust me, they can make you feel pretty bad.
Remember the sad look that Puss in Boots uses in the Shrek movies? <----- ku fan crushing you with guilt
-
Guys, remember that our bros are a little tight on cash right now. If we tear down their goal posts, they will probably have to repurpose some (currently unused) scaffolding or make the guys in the endzone recliners hold up flags or something just to get through the season.
-
A KU friend who works in admin there said they're already asking parents to sign up to bring snacks for after practice and stuff.

Make sure to tell the KU players they put forth some good effort out there when you see them out for ice cream with Gill after the game

Just made a sizable bet with a ku employee that we would't tear down the goalposts. Loser pays their favorite charity. Sorry, BBBS, not this time!

Tear 'em down. For the children.

Guise, you will not be caught or punished! Your friends and family will congratulate you! You will probably get laid by random hotties!
Just don't do it, it's about respect here.

jesus! an uncontrollable  blurted out of me... uncontrollable
-
If you do this, there is a good chance you'll end up with your picture plastered on newspaper(s), magazine(s), national webpage, etc. As a gentleman sportsfan, you will have to send copies of these pictures of you in your moment of raw, heathenistic triumphant celebration directly to every uk fan you know, along with a heartfelt apology describing in detail how badly you have just abused and disrespected the jayhawks football program, its fans, the entire college at lawrence, and all that it represents. Sure you will post these to facebook, twitter and other social media outlets, but nothing beats a sending personalized hardcopy ku supporters you know, the uk athletics department office, and especially directly to coach gill. It's the Christian thing to do.
This could be embarrassing for all involved, but certainly much more for those aligned with the jayhawk football team.
-
Sure, go ahead and tear down the 'posts. But, after the high fives, fist pumps, free drinks bought by other EMAWs, after people stop texting you congrats, after you kick all 3 girls out of your bed the next morning, after all of that, i'll be hear waiting, saying, "was it REALLY worth it?"

Tearing down goalposts? Is it fun? Sure... like vandalizing a BILLBOARD! Who in thier right mind would feel good about that? It might fill that void in your heart, but at the end of the day YOU have to look at yourself in the mirror - and will you like what you see? I think you will NOT!!!

[oldmanreflection]
Best part about last time was security blocking the open end of the stadium so we couldn't get the posts out, so they carried them up the other end, threw them over the top, and reportedly smashed some administrators car before loading them up and taking them to Aggieville.

Thanks guys. Wow. We had that garbage program outclassed from the coin flip but you just soaked in the sun and tipped your cap to Tenacious Turner and his scrappy band of misfits.
Love you. You showed what class and sophistication is all about.
Hell, you could have taken them down at half and their ineffectual fanbase couldn't have stopped you. But you didn't. Wow
