Title: jayhawk/babyjay question/problem
Post by: Dr Rick Daris on October 18, 2011, 12:25:52 PM
i've always thought that it was a little weird that our white trash neighbors to the east had a female bird as a mascot for their sports team, but then  it got double or maybe even triple weird when the bird gave birth to another smaller bird (babyjay).

is that weird to anybody else? i mean, where's the father in this whole situation? i mean you tell me because i don't know. i guess the whole deadbeat dad thing is probably a common theme amongst their fanbase though, so maybe they rally around it or something. i dunno. just seems out of place in college athletics. guess it's not over in lawrencetucky though.  :dunno:

Pretty sure Baby Jay's father is a turkey baster.

Haha, did anyone catch the poultry-related pun?

i don't know what this even means. i guess it could be a combofanning board topic but since kstate is playing a fball game against ku in wtville (lawrence), i figured i'd put it here. if the mods want to move it then by all means i understand.

A ku friend of mine was tight with the chick that was "Baby Jay".   His friend had to do a party of some kind over in MO, and there was a heavy presence of Moo fans.  Long story short, Baby Jay about got beat up pretty good.  Now Baby Jay's party appearances (it was like $300 at the time) are now done with an accompanying escort for Baby Jay personal protection reasons.  True story.

It is this.  Mama Jay is independent and doesn't need anyone.  She includes her infant in family activities such as cheering on the hawks and screaming "rip his rough ridin' head off" when they kickoff.

I get it totally and think it sends a good message.

Maybe Papa Jay is still around, but he can't make it to the games because he has to work on nights and weekends due to his lack of education and drug habits.

buddy of mines sister was one of the babyjays 5-6 years ago. she would do lots of stupid parties and weddings. he would get about 2-3 of us to be "bodyguards" for the bird which basically meant we got smashed drinking free booze.

Duh.  A male cannot have a baby.

I have often heard them called "Lady Jay" and "Baby Jay"
