fair enough.  not sure how much you blame a coach every time a kicker misses.  still think our return game has improved on both sides and its no accident when you block 2 fg's in a row.  at least we can feel better that sean isn't just "there".

If I can credit a coach when a player blocks two field goals, I suppose I can blame him when a player fucks up the easiest scoring play in football.

Our kicker may not be amazing or anything, but overall we should be pleased with how special teams have improved since 6 weeks ago.

no glaring mistakes?  not recovering an onside kick is prettty glaring.  granted is was a great kick but we left one guy completely unblocked...that's a lack of preparation.

So by my count we have a couple glaring mistakes?  Great work Sean.

I forgot about the onside kick.  But as far as a guy unblocked, there will always be a guy unblocked because one of our guys is going for the ball.  If we don't put even numbers to match up with theirs, i.e. a guy covering the kicker so he doesn't just kick to himself, or 5 guys on each side of the kicker lets say, then they will kick it to the side with the numbers advantage.  so lets say there were 6 on that side of the field covering their 6.  We had hartman going for the ball, do you think our 5 could block their 6?  obviously not.  and if we added a guy over there to make it 7 vs. 6 then they would have kicked it to the otherside where we would have had 2 guys to block 4 of their while one of our tries to recover... see how this works..

still feel like his greatest use is as a host/shell for bill's brain when bill's body inevitably fails him.

Don't even pretend that this hasn't been considered by Bill.

Special Teams have been outstanding the last two weeks.  I refuse to blame the coach when a kicker misses a PAT and a 32 yarder.  I will give him credit when we start covering kicks and blocking them though.  Punting has been pretty solid all season.

Also, that personal foul on our punt coverage guy last Saturday was a pathetically awful call.

I'm not sure I would call our special teams outstanding, but they have been servicable.  There will always be mistakes and things that can be improved upon.  This is NOT an endorsement for Sean as hciw.

i dont think anyone believes he could do anything to deserve HCIW.  was more about him not being a complete deadweight on the staff.

BITB today said something about how tech ran that play knowing the ball goes right into the lights when they kick it.

Although the blocked kicks were nice, the linemen are supposed to block down, that is, seal off toward the center. Both of those times, the offensive lineman blocked toward the outside, thus opening the door for Guidry to break through. I will not give credit to Sean for a Tech player being a bonehead – BUT I will give credit to Guidry for exploiting that weakness TWICE!!!

Onsides kick? It was a damned fine kick – but we had hands on the ball at some point and the strategy for that is to find the goat or the most exploitable player and they picked the right one. Never hear about the light thing, but that makes sense.
