Face it last year the stars aligned and it was fun and all, but I'm not seeing us do that again this year by any stretch of the imagination; then again I didn't see it coming last year either.
But when you lose not only your stud ACE but the Saturday and Sunday starters and compete in recruiting with the Missouri Valley it seems bleak to win 40 games again.
Sorry to be a debbie downer but I just don't want any powertards to get there hopes too high.

Full focus is now on the BATKATZ. I'm excited. 'Tah State on Kansas 22 tomorrow night!
Love going over to shockernet and reading those 9 douchebags meltdown when we beat them in "their" sport. That makes 8 out of the last 11 and 4 straight.Indeed. Love that site.
Everytime they lose to K-State in "their" sport the entire history of K-State in the Big 8 and the Big 12 gets re-written on Shockernet.I especially love the thrashing going on by the guy with the Butler avatar.
It's classic.
Agreed. Right now the school has invested about as much as a Sun Belt school, but is still benefiting from being in a conference that pulls them up. Right now, it's merely a stepping school in baseball and Hill would jump at an instant for the right price.

Yeah, the weekend starters are the top 3 and the midweek guys are usually 4 and 5, thats pretty standard around the country. We play in a tough enough conference that we don't need many OOC wins to boost our resume, but losing them doens't help either.

Yeah, BYU probably threw their 4 and 5. But, I'm not sure what their schedule looks like and they may have actually saved some decent pitching for us, being a chance to steal a win or 2 from a ranked team. But I would assume they did throw midweek starters.
Bat Katz beat Baylor 5-2 tonight! 24-8 on the season.

we would need a lot more seats in tointon to get a regional imho
If we make the NCAA tourney and do well, we're going to have to give Hill and the staff another pay raise, and we're probably going to have to invest some more money into the baseball facilities as part of the deal. We'll probably have to add another 1000 seats, and since I am always thinking about this stuff. We should go ahead and move the large videoboard from the football Stadium over to TFS, and then put in an even bigger videoboard in the football stadium so we can move back up in the Big 12 godzillatron in your football stadium rankings.
Tointon seats like 3500, doesn't it? It would be fine for one of the 16 regionals but we would probably never hold a super regional. You might be surprised how small and not nice the vast majority of college baseball venues are. Plus, some the really nice one like OSU, Ark, Bama, etc aren't even in the running for regionals a lot of the time. Look at some of the regional sites over the last few years, several are not as nice or big as KSU's.There were over 4700 at the wichita state game with a lot of people standing and I seem to remember at some point a one seed did not get the regional because of lack of seats.
anyone got a v. mu score for me?
We just got fracking swept by MU. We should have won the 2nd game. Bullpen blew it in the bottom of the 9th and the bottom of the 10th. :flush:

KU was the first school to make it to a Final Four, College World Series, and a bowl in the same year. KU is the second school to win a BCS Bowl and national title in the same season. You guys can't even come close. That will be even more impressive when you're talking about a school in Conference USA!

Except for men's basketball, ku athletics is either at the middle of the pack or dredging up the bottom of the conference across the board.
All the BS from Ben about how Lew was building an athletic powerhouse has come no where close to being reality.
And ku loses....again. Someone needs to put that dog in Lawrence down.

Guess this means that pretty soon we'll have a follow up by Kellis on "how this has hurt their chance for the tournament and oh yeah, K-State will probably be a #2 seed." :embarrassed: (ftp://:embarrassed:)

KU's team is not as good as ISU's and only slightly better than CU's. Sad, really.
No, actually we should be really good next year. We were supposed to suck this year, while much of the players were froshs and sophs. Plus, we're bringing in our best recruiting class, ever. We'll be a tourney toeam again, and hopefully a super regionals team.

MANHATTAN, Kan. - Three Kansas State signees - Jared King, Johnny Fasola and Shane Conlon - were recently honored for their play as high school seniors this past season.
King, an outfielder, was named the 2010 Ohio High School Baseball Coaches Association (OHSBCA) Division I Player of the Year after leading Dublin Jerome to a 23-7 record and a sectional championship. The brother of current Wildcat Jason King, Jared King tallied a school-record .574 batting average last season and also set school marks in single-season hits (58), doubles (15) and runs scored (41).
King, who earned first team all-league and district honors, was also named the Division I Central District Player of the Year.
Fasola, a 36th-round draftee by the Los Angeles Dodgers, earned 2010 Division II Player of the Year honors from the OHSBCA. Fasola also recently picked up Louisville Slugger High School All-American honors from Collegiate Baseball after leading Walsh Jesuit High School to the state finals.
Fasola, an infielder and a pitcher, was outstanding as a senior, hitting .571 (52-for-91) with 10 doubles, 55 runs scored and a school-record tying 10 home runs. He collected 96 total bases, good for a 1.055 slugging percentage, while also recording a .661 on-base percentage.
On the mound, Fasola went 3-0 with a 1.45 ERA with 57 strikeouts in 33.2 innings and limited opponents to a .169 batting average.
One of the top players in the state of Illinois, Conlon was named the 2010 Chicago Tribune Player of the Year and a Louisville Slugger High School All-American. The first baseman and pitcher led Naperville Central to a 4A state championship as he registered a .430 batting average and pounded out 20 extra-base hits.
Like Fasola, Conlon was also dominant on the mound as he went 12-0 with a 1.45 ERA. The left-hander struck out 122 batters as opposed to just 12 walks in 82.0 innings of work.
Hill says this is the best class KSU has ever signed. If the draft doesn't totally rape us, we should be better next year than this year.Good work, brad.
Will we own ku even more next season or equally as much?

K-State, Hill agree to new deal
By Blair Kerkhoff - Posted on 13 August 2010
Kansas State baseball coach Brad Hill has agreed to a new five-year contract, the school announced Friday.
The contract replaces a four-year deal Hill signed in 2009 and takes him through 2015 with an average annual compensation of $235.000.
Hill could also earn up to an additional $172,500 in annual performance incentives for various achievements, including appearances in the Big 12 Baseball Championship and the NCAA Tournament, as well as for winning regular-season and postseason championships.
K-State has enjoyed its greatest success under Hill. The Wildcats appeared in their first NCAA Tournament in 2009 and repeated the trip in 2010.
The team’s third-place finish in the Big 12 last year was a high-water mark for the program.

Seems like a lot of money for a College Baseball coach. Wonder what Augie Gorito (SP?) makes?
Texas coach Augie Garrido, who preceded Horton at Cal State Fullerton and led the Titans to three national championships, and Miami coach Jim Morris head the list, earning $600,000 per year in base pay.
(LSU head baseball coach Paul) Mainieri, whose contract was set to expire in June 2011, got an extension to June 2014 and will see his total compensation go from $525,000 to $625,000. He also receives compensation for radio and television appearances, as well as for his youth camps. With incentives for winning the SEC championship, advancing to the regionals and the College World Series, Mainieri can earn close to $1 million per year.
"He'll (Mainieri) be in the top echelon, " (LSU Athletic Director Joe) Alleva said. "In the top five."
(LSU) Assistant baseball coach David Grewe got a bump in salary from $140,000 per year to $150,000,
