Title: 8 wins
Post by: wetwillie on October 13, 2011, 06:04:27 PM
If we win on Saturday would a 8 win regular season be a huge letdown?  I know what the seasons expectations were but if we finish 1-4 to end the season I would be crushed :frown: .  Maybe I'm just being greedy. Thoughts?

An 8 win season is an accomplishment no matter how you cut it.  Ideally, winning one or two of those "tough four" would be nice, but anyone "let down" with going 0-4 in our four hardest games of the season is probably getting a bit too caught up in the hype.

If you want to look ahead, 2012 is the season where 8 wins is maybe a let down.  2011?  This is gravy baby.  This is gravy.

Yeah stars have aligned again for us to eat Texas alive. Plus, Mack Brown is a terrible coach.

Mack is pretty horrible. Without VY, they are very average.

Just imagine if we had a north and south division this year.  We would be dominant.   :emawkid:

8 or 9 regular season wins would be quite an accomplishment with this yrs schedule.  If we can just get a solid safety to replace Tsyyyn next year, we could be pretty darn good.  (Pretty sure Tilman or that new juco commit can fill Kibble's shoes.)

OB already has his Mackschemes for the next 4 years laid out.  Kinda like how a little kid lays out his clothes the night before school.

When I sit back and think about it, I think we would be Nubb this year.  Guess my first instinct was just the result of the ass beatings  they've handed us the last few years.

I'm disappointed in every single Cats loss, no matter who it's too. I don't understand how anybody can say with a straight face that they wouldn't be at all disappointed in losing four straight games, regardless of who we are playing in those games. I expect to win at least one of those four.

it hasn't sunk in that we have 5 already..and we only had 7 last year after going to a bowl. fwiw.

we should at least beat KU and ISU...go to a bowl and win......so 8 wins right now is what we should expect and anything over that would be an improvement.

So, that leaves A&M at home, and Texas....winnable but coin flips as far as I'm concerned...

I've written off Ostate and OU but lets annoy this shazbot out of Stoops....

If we win tomorrow, I'd want to get at least nine wins in the regular season.  If you can successfully weather the offenses we've seen at home and on the road, and still won, I'd hate to think we couldn't beat KU on the road, ISU at home, and at least @UT or A&M at home.

I still don't think we can hang with OU or OSU, but Baylor actually averages more yards per play than either of them, so you never know.

+1

our D is giving our grinder offense a chance to win. love it.

Win tommorrow and the ceiling for double digit wins stays open.

Yeah. Losing four in a row always sucks. I don't care if we were playing 4 consecutive time travel road games at the 72 dolphins, 85 bears, 95 huskers, and 07 jayhawks. I would still be sad.

I would be disappointed to lose to the 07 jayhawks with this year's team.

Those first three teams and the best fourth you had was the 07 jaysquawks? GMAFB.

If the cats beat TT, Scheme, MD should focus everything on ATM.

I think we will rollover for Stoops so that when he brings his brother on board, we can take Venzie for the HCIW job.

I feel like we will beat TTU, KU, aTm or UT, and ISU.  Prolly will get blown out by either OU or OSU and lose a somewhat decent game to the other.  9-3 going into a bowl would make a pretty nice case for Snyder being the CCOY and possibly the NCOY.

There is a huge difference between beating the 4 shitty teams last year and the 3 good teams this year. This is also the first time since 2000 that we have been 5-0. It's a big deal.

Yeah, 3-0 in noncon should happen every year.  Beating Mizzou, UMiami, and Baylor is impressive.  The 2 next games are definitely winnable as well.  Tough 4 game stretch, and then another winnable game.  Could be a very nice season.

Yeah, this year we beat 5 shitty teams! Baylor is getting exposed. Mizzou and Miami both have losing records. Yeah, let's get overly excited, guys! We all know it's not gonna end well.

Baylor is getting exposed?  Please explain.  They are losing to a higher ranked team on the road that is favored by nearly 10 points.

Higher ranked by one whole spot. Yowzers. They look like trash out there. And it's not like they're playing world beaters.

They aren't playing great but exposed?  I'm not saying we're a great team, probably not as good as our ranking, but to say we've beaten 5 shitty teams isn't accurate or fair.

It's the worst Mizzou team in a while. Baylor is very mediocre. Who the hell knows about Miami. Not saying I'm not impressed. I'm saying we have a long ways to go.

The one thing you can't disregard is the resiliency of this team.  I'm not going to say we're going to win them all but I'm not going to count us out of any games we play.  We should win next week, and with a home game against OU one never knows.  I remember 2003 thinking if we can make some plays and things go our way we could win the game.  We all know what the outcome was.  Realistically OU and OSU will be very tough games for us to win but not unwinnable!!!  But uk, isu are W, atm @ home will be another tough game but one we could pull out.  ut in Austin will be a tough game as well but they are a young team losing 2 in a row.  It will be interesting to see how this young team will respond.  This year has far exceeded my expectations (as I'm sure many of all Wildcat Land) but looking at our team are we headed back to DOD?  I hope so!!!

EMAW!! :lynchmob:
