Another quick start from the cats, but this time RG3 scores in the last two minutes. :shakesfist:

36-34, Kats. RG3 is hobbled much of the game after a sack by Meshak or Davis.

A three point differential.
When making predictos I usually give a percentage chance for KSU (i dont predict other games) to win if game was at a neutral site. Then I add 10% if we are at home or subtract 10% for a roadie. For instance, BU is prob a little better than KSU so 45% chance at a win if neutral, BUT THE GAME IS AT THE LHC Bill Snyder FAMILY TERRORDOME SO WE GET AN EXTRA 10% BOOST!!!!!!!!!!
That means K-State is the favorites winning 55% of the times.
Boom.
My system is very accurate.

:lynchmob: 31 and by a touchdown

What does the prophet KSUNathan say?
I say Cats 45 Baylor 33
-
41-28.
We'll be down by about 3 touchdowns until somewhere in the 4th quarter, where we score one close the gap slightly.
Everyone here will be calling for Cosh's head again, in large part because of the soft zone coverage which alternately allows long pass plays/big runs.
:frown:

most of you are being total pussies...

RG3 gets the colt mccoy treatment in the second baylor series after lighting us up for a long TD in the first series. Baylor falls apart after that.

:kstatriot: - 31
The Branch Davidians - 27
Basically the same type of game vs. Miami. Good defense at the end prevents TD and we win by 4.
-
Cats 28
Bears 7

This is the only scenario in which it is feasible that BU doesn't score at least in the mid to high twenties.

I think we blow them out by 3

Would take.

Would take.

the only way we're winning this game is if RG3 is struck by lightning.
-
Bet you said the same thing about Miami/Jacory, didn't you?
-
How many possessions is Baylor going to get if we run the ball 80 yards every possession?
4
Then they score 35 points, max.

Can the ChingDEX factor in Saturday being a windy bitch & OBZ's cockiness/arrogance?
Is there such a thing as old man swagger? If there is, OB would have it this year, no? Has to factor in somehow.
-
Windy bitch day would play to our strength, right?
-
the only way we're winning this game is if RG3 is struck by lightning.
what you did there...i see it

Baylor's running D is their achillies. They escaped a home game shootout vs. the only team with a running game and D to speak of. SHould have lost after being down 15.. but RGIII had a career night.
Baylor is on the road so their offense will still be good..but not record setting...It'll be a nail biter going in the 4th quarter.

We can't pressure the QB. The QB we are playing has more TD's than incompletions. How are we going to win?
-

1) if you can stop the running game with only your front 7 personnel then pressuring the QB is less significant. We're more concerned about contain than outright pressure.
2) He has more TDs than incompletions because a) he's played Rice and Sam Houston (not to mention TCU's defense is nothing special this year if you've seen their other games) and b) they use a lot of bubble screens. Their run game is more of a demand for lesser defenses so it requires more help from the back 7. He's been throwing long more this year than in previous years but see a and part of b for that reasoning. Still, if you employ bubble screens as a strong part of your offense you're still going to get a lot of completions. Getting big yards on those types of plays is easier vs. Rice and Sam Houston than vs KState.
3) I guess you didn't see Baylor play against teams with winning records last year. Illinois, Ok State, and aTm really had their way with them and Baylor has the same personnel less a potential 1st-2nd round receiver that left the team shortly before the season and a 1st rd pick playing at LT last year.
4) Never underestimate what a defense can do when they're strong up the middle (we are strong at nose, mike, and safeties) and have LBs that can make plays in space in both the running game and passing game (we have those capabilities).
-
Why did you facepalm me?
-
Why did you facepalm me?
I apologize.
Defending solid QBs isn't just about rushing the passer. If you start eliminating other things they can do (like their run game or RG3's effectiveness leaving the pocket) you funnel that offense into a set of limitations from which they will be forced to operate the remainder of the game. If you look, statistically, in recent seasons at many of the better defenses they are not necessarily great, shoot, some would not even be considered good at rushing the passer. And it's not just about the front 4 bringing pressure. Trust me, if we eliminate their running game with our front 7 personnel and we're effective at cutting off RG3's emergency lanes then you're going to handcuff him and his offense.
Alabama is a great example...they systematically start removing things you can do offensively without generating great pressure on the QB...some years they are better than others.
That being said, it's always FAVORABLE to have a pass rush because you don't have to be quite as sound in other areas. But take away a few things and the offense starts becoming handicapped.
-

I understand this concept, but I've been scratching my head all week because Harris just stood backed there and picked us apart when we did that. Seems like there needs to be some way to pressure the QB into mistakes. What I ultimately decided on is that our approach was to try to make them eventually beat themselves by making them run a lot of plays and to just keep them from scoring on big plays. Of course if that was the strategy we didn't execute it. :dunno:

Why did you facepalm me?

Oh, OK. It just seemed like an impressive statistic.

we had more assistance up near the line once Miller popped one on us. Even before that we had some help near the line in certain situations. And we played with a double digit lead for a large portion of the game. We played some of that game on the side of caution with corners off the line 10 yards and backpedaling at the snap. We conceded some deep middle stuff and he did hange a nice one over A. Brown on a deep seam with the TE.
It surprises me that people think Harris can't throw...he averaged 270 per game passing last season and is a senior. He was going to get his. The thing people get fixated on with Harris is that he's turnover prone, and he is...but he'll get his yards down the field as well.
I don't think Baylor is suiting up anybody at RB this week that scares the hell out of us nor is their ground game considered to be that of Miami, not straight up at least.
Remember, too, that QBs have a clock in their heads before they start looking for more room to buy time. Once he moves in the pocket or away from the pocket the dynamics of the pass blocking change. Pressure can materialize from that movement. Again, the biggest key is to stop the run with the front 7 and CONTAIN him to the pocket. I think we would much rather him throw in the pocket vs. 7 then get out of the pocket.
