Is McD going to get fired? I would fire his ass. I would then hire Billy Clyde if Houston hasn't snatched him.
-
it will be interesting, but i really don't think so. he has a buyout that is in the area of 2.0-2.5 mill, which does a lot to encourage ad patience (unless you're krause). i think he gets at least one more year (buyout goes down 500k/year).

Yeah, no chance they fire him then.

McDermott is really the only SLTH that needs to go. Very upset about this. :frown:

In just the past month, former UK coach Billy Gillispie has been rumored to be in contention for a potential Houston job as well as the DePaul gig. The latest rumor, however, has Gillispie settling his coaching roots in Ames, Iowa.
The Buffzone blog (a Colorado sports blog run by the Boulder Daily Camera) reports whispers that Iowa State Greg McDermott will be fired after the season and the ISU administration is very interested in Gillispie becoming the next head coach.
We find it hard to pin all 81 losses over McDermott's career squarely on the coach's shoulders. From abrupt transfer to decisions to play for a pro team back home to dismissals to lingering injuries, McDermott has never really had a fair shake in Ames. However, much was expected of the Cyclones this season and unfortunately, even with Craig Brackins and impressive newcomer Marquis Gilstrap posting double-digit averages (16.6 ppg and 14.9 ppg respectively), the administration may see this season's sub-.500 record as unacceptable.
I was way out in front of this one :driving:

they should fire him. when you think about it, it's just 500k/year. and it's not like they're going to wait out all 5 years. so, waiting a year or two to save 500 or 1000k.... doesn't really make sense. it's not that much money.
if a hundred iowans each sold an acre....
-
gillespie needs to find a job in texas, his roots are there and that's where he belongs (decourcey)

I agree. Go to Houston where he has recruiting ties, build a CUSA power, then move back up to a BCS league if he wants to. And likely find a much better job than ISU.
Plus, didn't ISU already fire a coach b/c of a drinking problem? Just sayin'.
-
bcg would be fun at isu, but he's not a great fit. they'd be much better off with bozeman.

no doubt. if they have any ambition at all up in the ISU AD they need to make this move when ISU is trekking home from KC. $500K is nothing in the big picture.
-
mchotdogneck would have a job in the valley 15 minutes after isu fires him (decourcey)

I read on a Cornhole board that McDermie really hates Frank . . . the Cornholes were saying McDermie thinks Frank cheats. One of the Cornholes was claiming he knew McDermie pretty well.
yeah this was discussed here somewhere. here: http://goEMAW.com/forum/index.php?topic=850.0
and somewhere else which lead to a revelation that laNeck drops Frank cheating references with all his drinking buddies like Sean Keeler @ the des moines register
