I know how we are all excited about klein, but i still don't like the fact he cannot pass. 133 yards? are we ever going to have a qb that can do 300+ yard games? I don't know, maybe i am wrong.
I'd be nice if we can hit some big time passing plays. That one in the first half (on 3rd and 10) was very encouraging, but LITTLE after that!

It would be nice, but I'm glad we know our qb enough to not push it. Hopefully sams has an arm.

I enjoyed the TD pass to Locket. Mostly because Tyler was in between two defenders, and the ball flew right over the hands of an LB.
Pretty good pass if you ask me.
-
Klein to Harper and Klein to Lockett
-
I don't think we tried very hard to throw the ball in the second half. He was obviously having trouble gripping the ball.
-
Out route to Brodrick and that sweet drop in to Lockett prove he can pass. I mean getting it over that LB and than right to his hands was a great pass.
I think passing decreased in the Miami game because his hand was put into a meat grinder.

I hope so. If we need to pass, I hope CK is up to it. I just don't want another QB that is an awful passer/mediocre runner (Meier, Evridge, Webb...you know the drill)

agreed, the man was taking a beating.

For the foreseeable future, I think our offense is going to be primarily run oriented.
With that in mind, I think we need to utilize the play action vertical passing game like we used to do with Bish. I think CK has a decent enough arm and can probably get the ball down the field.
Remember how fun it was to have Bish complete like 7 passes for 250 yards?
-
I think the one thing CK has is great decision making. With all the stretch/zone reads he has made some AMAZING decisions. That factors into the passing game for me. He knows his limitations and can make some great passes. Fortunately he has the ability to pull it down and run and not look like Carsie Coff.

Bish could make drinking water fun to watch.

In CK's defense, there have been a number of drops this season and he hasn't made too many (if any) dumb/dangerous throws.
An offense like ours this season requires a quarterback who cannot make many mistakes. Just make some throws and be a capable runner. CK fits this.

But against a team like Baylor...that's not gonna get it done.
And if you want something better than a mediocre performance in brooklyn, NY to end the year...you need better than what you just described.
-
I would say his Miami performance showed a significant improvement over the NY performance. Type of timings, coverage reads and accuracy were all improved. Hopefully not a fluke/playing out of his mind game.

I disagree with both of your claims. We can score a sufficient amount of points without CK throwing 45 yard bombs. When Klein and Hubert, or whoever, combine for 260 yards on the ground, we don't need 300+ yards in the air. Just not how our offense works.
We're a run focused team and will sustain drives as long as CK can provide a viable pass threat. Anything more is gravy, anything less and we're dead.

Well, I know. But, the thing is...what's the difference between what you've described (2011 cats offense) and KSU football from 2004-2010? I'm just looking for some validation that we are more than a 6-6 type of team.

That was only the (4th?) start of his career. He will get better and better. Just be patient, bros.

Don't do this to yourself. Go with your initial instinct, which is to protect yourself from the pain that is coming.
-
Threw for a 100 yards in the first half before he was beat up, would take any half. Also, Playbook is still not all that open.

You've been hurt before, I can tell. But we're here for you. We can work through it. You can learn to trust again.

In 2003 Roberson had two games where he threw for more than 300 yards (OSU & NU). We were 1-1 in those games.
He also had 2 games where he threw for under 100 yards (UT & ISU). We were 1-1 in those games.
-
Thought Roberson was hurt against UT in 2003? Damn, seems like so long ago...
-
Also, Baylor's defense is not good. We should be able to hang at least 35 on them. If our D is as solid as it looks like it can be, 35-40 pts can win that game for us.

Roberson came back for the UT game and was dreadful. OSU was the following week.
Roberson had 2 300+ yard games in his entire career. He also threw three picks in both of those games.
Jonathan Beasley had zero.
Freeman had 6 and only had one game during his freshman year that he started and didn't throw for at least 100.
Klein will most likely have very few 300 yd games, if not none. That's just not our offense under Snyder.

Efiing FFF is to effing greedy! Klein is more than a man than OBBS! He bleeds for this team while most of you don't donate to Kids! F you all. I told all those Miami rats to suck a sheeps anus!

After 3 games our defense seems to be on par with Maryland and OSU, don't expect much more from them than that.

I think ck has really tiny hands.makes it hard to throw.

He has "Reverse Digit Lengthatitus". Long thumbs where the other 4 are short. Otherwise known as "Hitch-hikers Hand".
-
Maybe Klein should start playing with gloves. It might help him hold onto the ball.

bitb said yesterday that the td throw to Lock'N Loaded was a dumb throw- barely over the LB and into double coverage. sounds like you might need to sign up for _FAN's FB camp this spring. and learn a thing, or maybe two things. About FootBall.
-
Kind of hard to average 300 yards passing when you run the ball 71% of the time for 265 yards. I mean we could do like Miami and throw the ball 53% of the time but I think running it went better for us... :dunno:

As was said, when 65% of your play calls are runs, you've got to look at yards per attempt and not total yards as an accurate measure of passing success. Against Miami Klein had his best day at 7.4 YPA, but I agree that's not enough. IMO we need to get that over 8 and hopefully closer to 9. Again, this assumes we stay at around 5 YPC in the running game. What won the game in Miami was an excellent 6 YPC on the ground that improves to an even more impressive 7.3 YPC when you take out 27 yards lost on 4 sacks.
If Klein has a 300 yard passing game, it likely means very bad things for K-State's offense. I could see a 200+ yard game coming though, likely this weekend.
-

:shakesfist:
you DID see the condition of his hands and elbows going into the second half, right? Falling on that crappity ass dirt field did a number on him and he took about three shots to the chest that would make us cry and go home......so no wonder he wasn't throwing downfield.
Also, our running game was gouging them to death.

Dangit. Bested again.
Something Interesting:
Ohio State passing numbers against Miami: 4-18 for 35 yards and an interception.
CK is a passing monster!

Actually, I think that does get it done. Or at least gives you a shot at getting it done.
Unless you're OU or OSU, the way to beat RG3 is to play keepaway and shorten the game. There are fewer do-over possessions for the other team. Rest your own D while controlling the ball on long drives.
Think KU game in 2009. Reese's Pieces had fewer chances (possessions) to correct the turnovers he had during the game.
