Title: 2004-2010
Post by: fatty fat fat on September 26, 2011, 10:13:51 PM
our road wins

04: @ mizzou (5-6 3-5)
05: @marshall  (4-7)
06: @cu (2-10 2-6)
07: none
08: @tamu (4-8 2-6)
09: none
10: @kansas (3-9 1-7)

so, the miami win was prolly our best during this decade of despair. very encouraging, and goes to show how rare a road "w" has become since the true DoD left us.

I don't think you can. I debated posting this, and had to google the majority of the data. Very embarrassing and humbling .

this isn't 2007 anymore, that's for sure.

Aside from the Texas W's and maybe KU '09, the Miami game was probably the biggest win for our program since Dec. 6 2003.

Winning the Baylor game would fit into this category as well, imo.

And despite being neutral site games, the two Farmageddons at least deserve a mention.   :peek:

road games in which we are a big underdog and their fans are extrememly mean, pompous, and high on drugs...

Miami takes the cake.

They gave us the middle finger a lot!

But it was also funny, they'd be all pissed and then the stadium DJamer would turn on some rap and it was like a pacafier to them:  they'd instantly turn nice and start dancing until the music was off, and then they were mean again.

better win than '07 Texas IMO due to how we won it.  We beat Tejas in '07 because we scored 3 non-offensive TDs and forced 5 or 6 turnovers.  We did neither vs. Miami...beat 'em straight up.

Besides, in '07 Tejas had nobody close to Lamar Miller at RB and had a very young OL.  Miami had 75 starts between the 5 on the OL out there Saturday.  Not only that...they're considered a talented OL.  BTW, they are getting Seantrel Henderson back soon this season.  I'm glad we didn't have to face him.  Last year they avg 500 yards per game when he was in the line up.

What I found interesting is that in Miami's loss to Temple (where they had 4 starters out from their line up defensively including leaders Forston, Spence, and Armstrong) they only allowed one offensive TD to Terps.  Maryland got 2 TDs defensively and a bunch of FGs.  MD's offense scored much better vs. WVa's defense which is pretty stout.  As for their loss vs. Temple...Temple's not a bad team.  They didn't allow Penn State to take a squat offensively and should have won that one and crushed everybody else with a strong running game and defense.

meh, good call but I don't think any NFL GM as of the date we played Texas in '07 would give anything close to a favorable comparison to Charles with that of Lamar Miller of today.  You're operating with the hindsight of Charles' '10 season as a pro and not in early October of '07.  We saw Charles in '06 win as well and nothing about him scared us other than he was a fast, small back who could pop one if he had room.  He didn't scare us going into either '06 or '07 game.....Miller, on the flip side, scares the sh_t out of everyone on the l_l's schedule.
