Admit that our D was solid for the large portion of the game.  Just admit it.  Admit that our D held Miami to the same amount of pts as Ohio State did the week before.  Just admit our D is pretty solid.

OSU sucks, our D was GREAT in the 1st half folded in the 2nd (aside form the goal line stand.)  Cosh is still not good at life, and if Arthur hadn't shown up, we'd still be bottom 10 in defense.

Our D sure went from suck to solid over an offseason.  Not like coaches have anything to do with that though.  Guess I should change the titel of this thread to "Butler Says."  Amirite?!

Snyder's first year with Cosh/Koenning our defense was good, next year when koenning leaves we suck, therefore, cosh sucks.  Now we are semi-serviceable.  We added a 5* linebacker.  Therefore, cosh is being helped by talent.  We will be exposed soon.  don't worry, sweetheart.  don't worry.

Chris Cosh is a rough ridin' waste of space.

We played great in the first half, then second half he decided to play conservative (not get beat deep!). So we played 12 yards off their receivers and let them do whatever the eff they wanted to do. The DLine was also noticeably worse in the 2nd half, you can't expect the secondary to hold them forever. Also, the touch down run, snyder said they weren't lined up right, which falls on the coach. Like someone else said, had Bryce and Tre Walker not played out of their minds we would have been completely mumped.

OSU does suck. Win over Toledo was lucky. Toledo is not that good.  OSU has not shown anything yet without Tressel and Pryor to get.any credit
Title: Re: Cosh says

My main problem with Cosh is that he doesn't seem to be good at making adjustments to his gameplan. He can definitely put some decent gameplans together sometimes, as long as the other coaches don't find a weakness with them. The problem is, there usually is one, and he seems to freeze up and stay the course rather than be proactive. See: the massive pass bombs in the 2nd half today. The goal line stand was great, but it was consistent with Cosh's full gameplan: put 8 in the box and make Jacory Harris crap his pants. Overall that plan is generally a good idea, but it's still susceptible to double moves and long passes.

But yeah, I will admit that Cosh isn't as bad as I was yelling last year.I do think that a lot of last year's problems were depth/talent issues that Cosh couldn't really help, although his schemes didn't really make things any better for them. It was like putting a couple of logs into an already raging dumpster fire. I mean, he's not some sort of savior exposing the haters like jt is trying to troll everyone with, but I think he's good enough to help pull us out wins against aggy or mizzou if things go right. OU and OSU will expose us, and badly, but that's bound to happen regardless of who our DC is. I think our main and clear weakness at this point is Special Teams, not Cosh. All of our games except the two Oklahoma schools should be competitive, which is more than we probably could've said last year.

I'm at the point where I'd still like him gone if we could find someone who can actually make decent adjustments, but if not, I suppose we can do worse (which I wasn't willing to say last year). And Sean better not be on the goddamn plane back home.

Next year, we will have some kicker who can nail 60 yard field goals, and jtksu will nail us all for wanting Sean fired after he spent all summer agreeing that Sehan should be fired, too.

So, to clearify, the guy who coaches the defense (which lead an insane goal line stand to win the game) deserves zero credit for the win?  At what point does a coach deserve credit?  Or do they only get blame?

Cosh deserves both credit and criticism for his performance today. There's no way we get in position to win if we don't fluster their offense early with his schemes, but we also almost gave up the ghost in the 2nd half when we didn't adjust to their passing attack. It doesn't have to be either/or.

end of seaon when we have 7+ wins and none of our losses were because of our defense that was ranked in the bottom 10 in the rough ridin' country.   :shakesfist:

If this were the first season Cosh had ever coached, I would agree with you that he's elite. Unfortunately, he has a body of work that we can look to that shows he's a horrible defensive coordinator.

I think it is clear that Cosh does not suck quite as bad as everyone thought last year including me.  Poor talent makes the coordinator look bad and good talent makes the coordinator look good.  No big surprise.  We are showing improvement, so now I'm no longer pissed at Snyder for not firing Cosh.   Still would have been nice to have landed Jim Leavitt, though......

Just to clarify-  I never said Cosh or our D was elite.  Just better than you jackwagons give them credit for.  And yes, I would much rather have Leavitt coaching the D.  I would also like to throw it in Gwen Stefani tonight but that's not happening either.

When you have the better team, you don't want to put the game on the shoulders of a QB who's been known to have games where he throws a bunch of picks and loses for the team. Miami thought they would be able to run all over us, just like they did to Ohio State. They didn't adjust until halftime, and it was too late by then. Really, they wouldn't have had as much success throwing the ball if we didn't have 8 in the box the whole game.

 :lynchmob:

First, this is a similar look to the play we won the UCF game last year, but Miami didn't have a bubble outside. They ran a crossing route combo from their trips recievers for a run, pass, shovel (to Miller) option for Harris.

Jacory doesn't know what he's talking about on the DE though. Davis was not late off the ball, but he played his key and then adjusted. His job there is to read the offensive tackle, who went down, so he's supposed to go down first. Once he saw the ball wasn't going inside, he rerouted to the edge. He knows he's got Walker filling off of his outside and Walker was there to make a play. We had Zimmerman coming off the edge to protect the TE side, Brown was over the top from the strong side to cover the shovel, and our DBs locked onto the trips well and didn't get picked off. The only slight mistake was Walker not trusting his instincts (or Brown playing behind him) and pausing as Harris rolled out before adjusting and making the play. He would've made the play at the 3 or 4 had he not paused.
