Title: Miami Predictions
Post by: ben ji on September 22, 2011, 02:30:33 PM
If you play NCAA College Football online you may have already noticed the ESPNU featured game lobby of the week is Kansas State vs Miami.

I played last night and after going down 14-0 in the first quarter I put the game in The Chambers hand and he responded going 10-12 with 184 yards passing and 2 TD's. I predict the same score in the real game.

Kansas State   31
Miami               21

I did the same, but won 21-0. Had 4 different goal line stands with the #1 defense in the country.  :lynchmob:

The best comparison I can think of is last year's Nubb game.  Sad but true.  If the defense is for real, and you think Cosh has turned the corner, then we'll only lose by the Vegas spread of 13.

:horrorsurprise: I was asked earlier what I thought KSU's chances are and I said a 33% chance. I'm like some kind of walking talking supercomputer. I've often wondered if I'm some sort of alien cyborg or something (due to social anxieties and overall public wierdness) and this comfirms it.

Well, you were off by 3% according to Paul Bessire's computer, so maybe you're not as good as you think.

At halftime Ohio State was averaging over 5.5 YPC on the ground despite their QBs being terrible (1-11 passing for 4 yards). Ohio State started the game terribly as well, and still were only down 17-6. If they could've gotten any passing game going, OSU would've had a legit chance in this game. We have a more balanced offense (and a better plan) to make this a game.

From barkingcarnival.com

Kansas State at Miami (FL) | 2:30 PM | ESPNU

I didn’t check, but I think this is the first FBS non-conference game that LHC Bill Snyder has ever coached in. Surely this is all that dick Ron Prince’s doing. The Canes looked pretty solid against a mediocre Buckeye squad last weekend. I’ll take The U winning in front of a 25% full stadium.

Of course the legitimate counter to my optimism is whether or not our defense is really better this year, especially against the run. Miami does appear to have a good running game, and if we don't slow it down we will be in real trouble. Arthur Brown alone and his ability to make plays makes it better, but we've got to get solid play from the rest of the front 7 and our safeties. Again, look to see if we can manage to make one on one tackles in space because there will be a lot of those that could mean the difference in a 4 yard gain and a 40 yard gain.

Good work.  Anything you've seen that makes you think 8 YPA in the passing game is possible?  I'm a huge skeptic of this aspect of the offense.  We've done nothing over the middle of the field thus far, so if that changes, we could get to 8 YPA I guess.

Playing on the road is tough guys.  Real tough.  Home teams usually win about 60 something percent of the time as you've read earlier in this thread or you happened to read KITN mind.    All that being said here's what I have;

Miami players back from suspension + Miami team speed + Miami being hopped up on blow - (minus) A. Brown revenge factor -(minus) play book is 73% open - (minus) Miami new head coach + OB still being our coach

Miami home field advantage even though it's not their stadium

=   Hurries   27
      Willies    17

Please don't try and correct my math.  That's a division line if anyone was wondering btw.   :sdeek: (ftp://:sdeek:)

Feels like (future big 12 member) Louisville in '06....Cats coming off closer than expected 1st game against FBS opp (24-23 vs Illinois State), then defense/offense makes a statment in 2nd game (45-0 v. Florida Atlantic)....we smacked around a bad marshall team in game 3 but then faced #8 UL and got beat badly though the score didn't indicate it 24-6.    That was at home though.  Hopefully it doesn't turn into UL in '08.
