i mean, we all know ku does not like black people and we've just let it slide and all... but this thread just blew my mind. ku's biggest rival is missouri (who ku calls the slavers-lol), but they are obviously the next most racist school in our area (note- i don't consider any sec school to be part of our area).
it's almost like there is an east to west racist line with our schools. the whole country seems to be like this so not too surprising though.
columbia missouri- totally racist. ridiculous over the top we will hang you from a tree racism. lawerence kansas- not as racist and makes fun of columbia for how over the top racist they are. overall intelligence is higher and they do a better job of hiding it. most of the time. manhattan kansas- the most western school who basically just sits around going wtf? why are both of your towns/universities so racist and wtf is wrong with you guys?
my question is this...is manhattan and ksu as a whole too laid back in their feelings and actions to their racist neighbors to the east? i feel like we are and should do more. it's hard though because we were brought up on human rights and things of that nature and as much as i hate it, our neighbors to the east should be allowed to voice their opinions on this matter as well. thoughts?
here is the thread that really got me going...

here is the post that sent me over the edge though. kind of shocking that their moderators don't delete it. quick question...guess which post was liked the most in the whole thread? not sure? with 32 votes averaging a four star rating, here you go...

So opcat is just an average ku fan?

I light a candle for both Turner Gill and Bernadette Gray-Little every night before I sleep. I can't even imagine the trauma that they will experience the rest of their lives after* they leave Lawrence, Kansas.

The thing that makes me really sad is their racism. I can live with the rest.

They may only make up 13% of the US population but they have control of about 75% of the loud laughter market.

This sort of thing should be publicized more via Twitter with a #ku tag...

Beems moves from the most racist town in KS to the most racist city in the Pac NW. What a dick.

so...ku fans apparently hate black people and people who stick up for them equally as much. the exchange below shows a random ku fan questioning why the racist comments are getting five stars and he gets immediately blasted with 8 one stars. at the time that i am posting this, estimatedphophethawk posted his comments over 24 hours ago and still has a 1 star rating from eight people. can't get any lower than that. wow, just wow...

I mean, I'm sad about it because these are all Kansans...but I can't say I'm surprised.

i lived in that town for seven years. i occasionally came across some ridiculous racism, but for the most part it was ok. then again, i pretty much just hung out with people that i went to undergrad at kstate with and who happened to move to lawrence after they graduated due to jobs, etc. i mean, i'm surprised but i'm not surprised at all this. does that make sense??? i mean, i always knew and heard and stuff but jesus, this crap is just unreal.

Osceola leading the charge

I know the whole story about ku naming themselves after the lowest common denominator of the human experience, which is quite appropriate, but this is hilarious.
“I don’t expect them to do anything,” Rick Reed of Osceola, who brought the resolution to the aldermen, said of KU. “They are so arrogant and uppity.”
Can you imagine some of the laws that must be still on the books there??

I threw my sister-in-law out of my house over this crap. I won't stand for it.

Cant wait for Seff's biography to come out, Uncle Bill's Cabin has a good ring to it.

Osceola leading the charge
http://www.columbiatribune.com/news/2011/sep/15/osceola-urges-kansas-to-drop-jayhawk-name/
For most people, the events of Sept. 22-23, 1861, are a little-remembered episode in the larger guerrilla war in Missouri.
But the people of Osceola have never forgotten. “I grew up here, and it is all I heard about when I was attending grade school and high school,” Mayor Larry Hutsler said. “Everyone knew who was responsible.”
I agree with Larry Hustler, and I WILL NOT FORGET SEPTEMBER 22-23!
