Title: Any other section 18'ers?
Post by: j-von on September 09, 2011, 04:35:03 PM
I had been sitting in section 4, but I never really liked sitting with the tucks and with the huge price increase I decided to request a switch.

They called me yesterday and said I could pick a new location.  I only live a few minutes away so I always go up there and sit in all of the open seats.  I ended up picking a couple in the first row of section 18.  I know section 17 has a strong goEMAW presence, and if I remember right I'll be close to "hard hat guy" so hopefully I'll be able to let the obscenities fly like the old days.

I'd like to hang a cuban flag or something similar over the railing but I think there will be people sitting in front of it so that might not work.  Can anyone confirm?

Section 18'er here, there are folks that sit right beneath that railing basically every game. Sometimes, when you get lucky, you'll see some major KSU dignataries down there like the Audio Junction guy and Deb Patterson, but again that's only when you get lucky.

Now that you mention it, I do remember seeing THE fat & ugly Mrs. Ron Prince sitting down there  :excited:

Front Row can get pretty goEMAW'd up.

Hey bad person, stay in section 4.  Some of us 17'rs are willing to increase our spending to get in 18.

WTF is KSU thinking?  They can have me spend more money to fill whatever seats they're offering the guy who doesn't mow his lawn, and they could've left him none the wiser spending even more over with the tucks.

Maybe I've been dax'd.  Sorry, gooch.

There was actually a decent number of seats still available in 18, and low rows of 17 in case you want to call up there Monday.  I know it's still being done by priority points, but I've never bought a car from Briggs so I can't be THAT far up the list.

KSU did their best to keep me spending more in sec. 4.  I had to tell them to cancel the tickets about 3 times through ongoing phone calls.  I honestly think these seats will be quite a bit better at less than half the price.

After sitting in there and looking at the court for a while, I still stand by my hate for the dark stain.  It looks pretty horrible.  The rest of it is nice though.

i can't imagine that the seats you moved to won't be an upgrade or at least just as good for half the price. 'grats. rumors abound that the dark stain wasn't supposed to be that dark. dunno. i will still choose to like it just based on principle and the fact that i thought the pics didn't look bad.

Shouldn't they be calling me and asking for a few hundred bucks?  I requested it on the renewal form.

eff it, I'm e-mailing Currie.

That's kind of what it looked like from the angle of sec. 18.  The problem wasn't only that it was a little too dark, but it looked badly done which would fit into the "wasn't supposed to be that dark" theory.  I'm not an expert on that stuff so I don't know exactly how to explain it but I was wishing I would have brought a camera to get a close up pic for everybody.

My wife was with me and she was the first one to mention that it looked kind of crappity.  I'm still hopeful it will look good on TV.

I really don't know how many priority points I have.  If there's somewhere online I can check I'd do it and let you know.

From my experience, they aren't great about keeping up on people that have decided to keep their seats, but requested a change.  I had actually cancelled my seats so maybe they knew if I didn't find some I liked, they wouldn't get any money.   :ck:

Now that I have b-ball seats that I plan to keep for a while, I'm really hoping for that Big East invite  :crossfingers:

I really don't understand why sec 18 wouldn't be the most desireable seats in the OOD, aside from the misc lux seats of course.

Sec. 6 is pretty sweet, but the tuck factor is over the top.  The old people will literally tell you to not stand up before you even sit in your seat. (true story)

I've never sat in sec. 18, but I would guess if you got above row 5 or 6 the standing students might obstruct the view depending on which side of the section you're on and if you wanted to stand yourself.  In addition to mine, they told me row 6, 7, and 11 had open seats in sec. 18.  Also some in row 2 in sec. 17 in case anyone wants to move down and they are still open.

For people waiting on the call, just go ahead and call or go up there.  I've always had luck doing that instead of waiting around for them to call even though it somehow worked out this time.

Being a "17'r" is the same concept as a "tuck".  It no longer means you're actually standing in Sec. 17, just like a "tuck" no longer correlates to how you wear your shirt.  We'll always be 17'rs.  I just want a little better view of the South end of the 2-toned court if possible.

Well now I'm confused whether I should send in my application to be an honorary 17'r sitting abroad, or fight for supremacy and independence with other native 18'rs.  Maybe 18 should just be considered an extension of 17's territory.
