My son's X-box crapped out with the 3 red ring of death tonight. He found some do-it-yourself repair instructions on the internet and swears that he has heard they work. Anybody have any experience with this?

I've had success with the do-it-yourself repair using the X-Clamp removal approach and cleaning/reapplying thermal paste on the CPU/GPU. Works like a charm.

Don't drive drunk with your son and throw the xbox out the window in a fit of drunken rage KSUBrian. Was he digging around for it in the grass like the kid from FNL?

Rumor has it most Red Ring of Deaths are caused by drunk fathers spilling their bottle of vodka on the console...

I'm pretty sure they are giving away free xbox's when you buy any window7 computer over $700. Do that.
