Title: This may get pretty bad
Post by: DQ12 on August 17, 2011, 02:27:20 PM
Just talked to my uncle who happens to golf with a higher up in the athletic department.  Anyways, I guess they were playing 18 at Stag Hill on Sunday and the hot shot guy said he'd be very surprised if either one of the Browns suited up for K-State this year.  Apparently the Browns may not be the only boneheads on our squad and if the NCAA does much digging at all, we could have a real problem on our hands.  This is just a source I have and I don't know if you guys had heard any similar grumblings.

Mods, feel free to move this thread to the premium board if you don't feel comfortable with this info being so public.

If we're going to give this kind of money to the players, the least they could do is perform!

If the NCAA does much digging at just about any athletic program, there would be a bunch of people in trouble and they'd pretty much have to shut down major college athletics.

Yes, what is a "higher up" doing playing at Stag, if you're high enough up, you get memberships to MCC and such.

Yes, it could get very bad for Kansas State University, especially if the NCAA starts following the meat goat money trail. I understand the concept of hiding in plain sight, but maybe we shouldn't keep the meat goats so close to the football complex.

It can't be THAT bad can it? Brown family got a free meal and a night at a hotel? A crappy hotel at that. I dont think it can end up too bad yet. Nothing about K-State/Brown Bro's has appeared on ESPN or anything yet. We'll be ok. All the main focus is on Miami and Missouri.

But meat goats aside, I used to be pretty high up the ladder of unpaid student interns in the athletic department. suffice to say, I was privy to quite a bit of extremely sensitive info (read: where all that meat goat money goes to) and wow, if the ncaa does just a little sniffing around, this whole sports machine we've built here could go down in flames.

MMMG is a nice little side venture, a sush fund if you will.  Cash Money Meatgoats Inc. is where the real money is found.  Good luck to the NCAA in trying to untangle the web of trails to that money.  :users:  <---  The NCAA, trying to skiptrace the money once it leaves the Caymens.

My wife's sister works for a DNA banking company, and she's been working super long hours ever since K-State heard this guy was going to sing like a canary.  Apparently K-State is cataloging ALL the meat goat DNA they have in case the animals may be subpoenaed during the investigation.  Guys, this seems really real.  :ohno:

For it to be more than a few games suspension there has to be some info that has not been released. A meal and hotel could not be a year suspension. Could it?

Any idea when the NCAA investigation will end?

Okay, deep breath everyone.

We all know Coach doesn't like surprises, and there's zero doubt that this whole Miami situation was not any sort of surprise to the boss. (What? You thought the NCAA clearing the Browns to play so quickly was some sort of happy coincidence? Nah!)

I've seen some of you express your frustrations with the lack of information 'flowing' from Vanier. With the exception of Mr. Prince's brief tenure, K-State football during the Snyder years has always been known for its stifling cone of silence surrounding the program. It is what it is.

Coach really doesn't believe that there's any good thing that can come from revealing the inner workings of his staff and team. As a result, we always head toward opening day expecting the unexpected, and sometimes we get just that (for better or worse). This year's no different. We'll see what happens.

There you go - just two more examples of a legendary coach exercising absolute control. For K-Staters, that's been 'fact' since day one of the Snyder era. You might get frustrated, but you also need to get used to it.

With Will Spradling and Rod McGruder finished with their European sports competitions for the summer, three of our track and field standouts now are participating in the World University Games in China this week. NCAA high jump champion Erik Kynard will be part of Team USA for the meet, and Martynas Jurgilas and Mantas Silkauskas will represent Lithuania. Following the World University Games, Kynard will travel to South Korea to join the senior national team for the IAAF World Championships. Good stuff! Congratulations and good luck to these outstanding Wildcat ambassadors!

One of the things I'm gonna do Saturday before heading out to the stadium for Fan Appreciation Day is drop my old Memorial Stadium to watch and listen to 'The Pride of Wildcat Land' as it prepares for the upcoming marching season and Saturday night's annual appearance in Aggieville. Also, always good stuff.

Sixteen days. What are the odds (between slim and none) that we'll survive 'em without swirling rumors and major meltdowns? Yep ... we're getting anxious.

Got your tickets?
