On Freshman Quarterback Daniel Sams…
“I don’t see him playing that much this year. He may have a chance to play some at wide receiver but that might not happen because of the depth that we have. We have some really, really good depth at that position. Daniel (Sams) might do that down the road but right now we are going to have him stick at quarterback.”

fantastic news

Sweet
-
So if he's sticking to quarterback, we probably want him to just redshirt, right?
Snyder has made it pretty apparent than it's going to be Collzy Chamber and it wouldn't really be worth it to have DanSam spend a year of eligibility on mop up duty against cupcakes (EKU, KU, etc).
RIGHT?!

RIGHT?!
He should redshirt if he isn't going to start. That said, if he is clearly better than Tuggle, it could be worth burning the redshirt in the event of injury (blown chamber), depending on how deep we are in the season and what our record is.
-
If he doesn't start it's only because snyds knows we are going to suck ballsacks this season folks.
-
do you people think bill will be alive to see a redshirt senior season of Sams? he'd be over 100 years old.
-

Have we established which team is "Team Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!)" this season?
Whichever it is, I'm sticking on team "Klein is fine."

this kind of has to do with my thought. if bill is calming waters then sams plays. if bill wants to coach for forever then a red shirt and backup qb next year.

I can't think of a better situation for Venzy to take over.
:D

Do not, DO NOT want Sams to redshirt. That's basically saying Snyder will be here 5 more years. If Snyder is only here a couple more years, and we get someone else, good chance Sams transfers somewhere else. DO NOT REDSHIRT SAMS PLEASE!
-

I'll go with Team Kline's Fine.
-
I'm on team "Sams is better than Klein, but as long as he's not wasting eligibility at WR, Klein is OK, too."

Bill will be coach for at least 4 more years. He won't step away while Tate is playing.

yeah, this is my team as well.
-
I have this fantasy. In this fantasy Klein plays the first few games gets injured, sams comes in off the bench and guides us to a 7 win conference season.

Do you wake up wet?

I'm the coach of Team "This board's general retardedness is quite evident in the fact that most posters want to start a true freshmen at QB who wasn't even good enough to start in high school."
-
Waiting to make up my mind on this one...
....if, IF, the WR talent is truly that quality, AND some combo of Kleiny Coff and the Self-Help-Motivational-Guru-Twitter-QB gets it done, then red-shirting Sams is a blessing.
I'm not really worried about QB, believe it or not...of course I am a co-captain on the "Team Kleiny Coff 2011 YPC Freight Train to Bowl Eligibility Fear the Beard" team.

I would like to be on this team.
-
Realistically, I'm on the wait-and-see-what-Klein's-got-but-think-spring-game-was-a-mirage-but-never-thought-coffman-would-be-worth-a-crap-either-so-who-knows-at-least-he-can-run-and-probably-won't-fumble-on-the-rough ridin'-one-yard-line-and-if-he-can-throw-with-our-receivers-might-surprise-and-be-worth-7-wins team.
Down deep in my heart I'm on the Sams-is-so-talented-and-has-such-a-quick-learning-curve-he-become-a-star-in-the-Miami-game team.
-

I may be crazy, but didn't that respected HC of the Big Red play a true freshman? Some wet bac...k that tore us up last yr. :ck:

Martinez redshirted.

Count me in on "Klein is fine," will enjoy  at you dorks screaming for Sams to be put in. Will be just like 2000 w/ Beasley and Ell.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Ell was much better than Beasley, and Klein is no Beasley. I think this year will be like 2002 with Dunn and Ell, only Ell won't ever come to save the season.

It seems like this year's wide outs are better, as a group, than Taco Wallace and James Terry. We certainly have the depth at RB this year to compete with Sproles single-handed production that year.
We don't have a Terrance Newman to bring in to save the bowl game, but other than that I think 2002 would be a fair comparison. Will take.

Pretty much on this team.
Also on the "Pete is one of the most reasonable posters of the last couple of weeks" team.

Ell certainly wasn't better than Beasley in 2000.
-
2001 Ell would have been treated worse than Carson by folks around, would have been ugly.

Yeah, I was kind of drunk when I posted that. :shy:

Five years of D-Sams in purple. Smart move coaches.

Has to be someone with no memory of how damn good Beasley was. If he hadn't been robbed of his long run against the Sooners, the argument would probably be him or Bishop.
-
I'm having trouble remembering who feels which way and how their socks feel also.
-
Beasley was as good then as he is fat now.

You what I loved about Beas? How he's throw the deep ball, almost every possession. And he often hooked up with Quincy or ALockett. Those were the days.

no. it's bishop or ell. now if you want to argue beasley or matt miller...
-
Roberson Bishop Beasley Freemaw.. Does it matter which is better?
They're all better than what we have now.
-

it matters a ton. and the order goes (from best to last best):
Freeman
Bishop
Roberson
Beasley
-
Bishop's stats are better than Freeman's.
-
freeman? good grief. guess we have a nice dividing line for who the 18 yr old and younger posters on the board are now.

All black.
WE NEED TO PLAY THE BLACK QUARTERBACKS. (Only kind of joking.)
-
Bishop
Ell
Freeman
Beas
Beasley was good, but he just wasn't a huge "playmaker" like the other quarterbacks listed. Phenomenal "game manager" and had a good arm and could run the option fairly well, but he just didn't strike me as the type who was capable of taking over the game, like the other quarterbacks listed.
-
Didn't Beas win 11 games in back-to-back seasons? Who else has down that?
-

beasley wouldn't be in my top four. btw, you just described carson coffman not jonathan beasley.

who cares how many games the team won? certainly not someone arguing best quarterbacks, that's who.

Amen. Miss the days of airing it out DEEP (talking 45+ yards). Carson Coffman and his 25 yard struggle passes pissed me off
-

pretty sure that awful ginger kid from ohio state did

Krenzel also won a NC and back-to-back Fiesta Bowl MVPs...

Great point irrelevantpointcat
-
You said he was horrible. How many horrible QBs did what Krenzel did?
-
Krenzel also won a NC and back-to-back Fiesta Bowl MVPs...
tee martin won a national championship at tennesse. peyton manning didn't. carson coffman went to a bowl game his last year at kstate. josh freeman didn't. is there a point to any of this or are we just rambling off former college quarterbacks and what their respective teams accomplished during the year they were starting?
-
So you're saying it doesn't matter who is playing QB for us this year? I mean, hell, seems like we would be better off with a worse QB, right? That's what you just said, isn't it? Cause saying Beasley had nothing to do with the success of his team would be pretty idiotic.

you are so lost, you don't even remember what this discussion is about.
