Title: Dimel on Daniel Sams, wide receivers...
Post by: The Manhatter on August 05, 2011, 09:08:54 PM
On Freshman Quarterback Daniel Sams…
“I don’t see him playing that much this year. He may have a chance to play some at wide receiver but that might not happen because of the depth that we have. We have some really, really good depth at that position. Daniel (Sams) might do that down the road but right now we are going to have him stick at quarterback.”

So if he's sticking to quarterback, we probably want him to just redshirt, right?

Snyder has made it pretty apparent than it's going to be Collzy Chamber and it wouldn't really be worth it to have DanSam spend a year of eligibility on mop up duty against cupcakes (EKU, KU, etc).

RIGHT?!

He should redshirt if he isn't going to start. That said, if he is clearly better than Tuggle, it could be worth burning the redshirt in the event of injury (blown chamber), depending on how deep we are in the season and what our record is.

If he doesn't start it's only because snyds knows we are going to suck ballsacks this season folks.

do you people think bill will be alive to see a redshirt senior season of Sams?  he'd be over 100 years old.

Have we established which team is "Team Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!)" this season?

Whichever it is, I'm sticking on team "Klein is fine."

this kind of has to do with my thought. if bill is calming waters then sams plays. if bill wants to coach for forever then a red shirt and backup qb next year.

I can't think of a better situation for Venzy to take over.

Do not, DO NOT want Sams to redshirt.  That's basically saying Snyder will be here 5 more years.  If Snyder is only here a couple more years, and we get someone else, good chance Sams transfers somewhere else.  DO NOT REDSHIRT SAMS PLEASE!

Bill will be coach for at least 4 more years.  He won't step away while Tate is playing.

Waiting to make up my mind on this one...

....if, IF, the WR talent is truly that quality, AND some combo of Kleiny Coff  and the Self-Help-Motivational-Guru-Twitter-QB gets it done, then red-shirting Sams is a blessing.

I'm not really worried about QB, believe it or not...of course I am a co-captain on the "Team Kleiny Coff 2011 YPC Freight Train to Bowl Eligibility Fear the Beard" team.

Realistically, I'm on the wait-and-see-what-Klein's-got-but-think-spring-game-was-a-mirage-but-never-thought-coffman-would-be-worth-a-crap-either-so-who-knows-at-least-he-can-run-and-probably-won't-fumble-on-the-rough ridin'-one-yard-line-and-if-he-can-throw-with-our-receivers-might-surprise-and-be-worth-7-wins team.

Down deep in my heart I'm on the Sams-is-so-talented-and-has-such-a-quick-learning-curve-he-become-a-star-in-the-Miami-game team.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Ell was much better than Beasley, and Klein is no Beasley. I think this year will be like 2002 with Dunn and Ell, only Ell won't ever come to save the season.

It seems like this year's wide outs are better, as a group, than Taco Wallace and James Terry.   We certainly have the depth at RB this year to compete with Sproles single-handed production that year.

We don't have a Terrance Newman to bring in to save the bowl game, but other than that I think 2002 would be a fair comparison.  Will take.

Has to be someone with no memory of how damn good Beasley was. If he hadn't been robbed of his long run against the Sooners, the argument would probably be him or Bishop.

Beasley was good, but he just wasn't a huge "playmaker" like the other quarterbacks listed.  Phenomenal "game manager" and had a good arm and could run the option fairly well, but he just didn't strike me as the type who was capable of taking over the game, like the other quarterbacks listed.

tee martin won a national championship at tennesse. peyton manning didn't. carson coffman went to a bowl game his last year at kstate. josh freeman didn't. is there a point to any of this or are we just rambling off former college quarterbacks and what their respective teams accomplished during the year they were starting?
