Title: gpc poster nugget of wisdom
Post by: sys on July 19, 2011, 10:11:59 AM
someone talked to underwood and reported that williams would project to get most of his minutes at the four.

the next time someone brings up samuels they'll still be clamoring for him to play as a wing, but i liked the fleeting moment of clarity and insight.

two things-
1) hoskins

2) nino's jumper never needs to see the light of day again

3) confused?

So, Williams will be at the 4 because Samuels will be at the 3?

here's what you need to do.  i tell everyone this.  when you're thinking of bob huggins/frank martin coached teams, you need to throw out the conventional line of thinking as it relates to player positions on the floor.

there is no 3.  there is no 4.  there is no 3 or 4, nor 1, 2, or 5.  positions are a thing of the past.  just play ball guys, why not just play ball?

but play hard.  i forgot to mention that.  you must play hard.  on both ends of the floor!  for 40 minutes!

if there's overtime you are expected to play hard for more than 40 iirc

I think Samuels will be on the bench.

also going to question your interpretation of the facts.  Tay is ripped.  Omari, apparently strong.  Why is Gipson getting the nod?  Can we not speak in lbs/lbs terms or are we confined to absolutes?  Gipson is probably not as strong at his positions as Tay, Omari.  I think this matters.

Us HBBIQ types know that Sutton was more like a combo forward.  There's not really a 3 and 4.  It's more like 3a and 3b.

I'm concerned about Williams at the 4. In certain situations he'll not be able to defend an opponent's 4 and these situations will be likely in the biggest games.

Samuels will start. He'll consistently hit the front of the rim on 4-6 ft. jumpers. He'll commit at least 1 stupid foul a game. He'll play his ass off and be a leader on this team. We will all love him.

People, just accept Jamar.

It's not my starting line-up, just feel it will be a strong team on the court. My dream for a starting line-up -

Spradling                     Bench
Peterson                   Southwell
Mcgruder                    Williams
Gipson                       Samuals
Henriquez

I know I'll be called a homer but I believe they could play the same style as the 09 team. Peterson driving kicking out to Mcgruder or Spradling, letting them chunk up three's and have the beast and Enrique there for putbacks. JMO

Gip, EMAPE, 95, OJ, and Tay/Rodney.
