the middle class can't afford [insert example product or service] that is made or offered by a small businesses or large corporations because the pay scale relative to the cost of living is shrinking exponentially each year. An expendable labor force has been laid off in exchange for cheap foreign labor which has inflated the Fortune 500's bottom line. Message is clear: Why invest in a labor force if things are looking good now in the midst of a recession?
so,
to remedy this problem, the GOP is proposing to raise the cost of living on the middle class by eliminating after school programs, social security, and medicare eligibility, etc in order to stave off a higher debt ceiling.
Makes perfect sense.

The middle class can afford goods and services. People who cannot are in the lower class.

you want to look at how many people have moved from middle to lower class in the last 10 years?
or how many can't afford health care? That's the point.

Is that the middle class I see at Wal-Mart every first of the month, loading their carts with Xbox games and boxes of Captain Crunch?
