I'm confused, isn't it good for the other team to have a low efg%?  :dunno:  Please explain this to a  :combofan:

He's referring to KSU's efg.

Contrary to popular junkyard cat mentality, KSU's real strength is its offense, and the efg% (shooting) has been phenomenal in Big 12 play.  (at least in wins)

Don't get it either 52.2 is decent but,  :dunno:

we've been at around 53.5 the last two games, and the efg% defense hasn't been noteworthy?

Meh.

Junkyard Cats is just as much about OR% and FTR as it is eFG%.

runouts off turnovers also help to reinforce junkyard cats

About two weeks ago our Orank was 16 and our Drank was 18.   Would like to see the Drank get back near the top 15. Nebraska shooting 66% from 3 doesn't help.

the last few games kstate hasn't been (consistently) getting a lot of oboards or to a lesser extent shooting a lot of fts (or constantly fouling).  they've been winning mostly by shooting a higher efg% than the opponent.

Meh.

Junkyard Cats is just as much about OR% and FTR as it is eFG%.

QFT.  JYC is about relentlessness and these stats as well as overplaying passing lanes, ball denial, etc all add into the effect.  We're lucky it is truly a treat to watch a team play this way.  The best part is that when we shoot well it is a thing of beauty, but even when we don't shoot well we are still able to dominate all but the top few teams in the country.  I was watching the game last night and made a comment that, "we are better at nearly every aspect of the game than the opponent, and it isn't close for any area"  it has been a long time since you could say that.

This is true.  as our Orate has skyrocketed to #10.  Opponents are shooting better as well.  CU, NU and OU have a lot to do with it, all three are pretty effecient on offense yet are atrocious on defense.

Well, NU isn't typically great on offense but they were against us.

would prefer the junkyard catz.  this shiny top 10 crap is for losers.

On College Basketball Final, Stephen Bardo said we had the "junkyard dogs" to beat Syracuse and I'll take Bardo's word over Kenpom any day.

Dudes, don't we get less offensive rebounds when we shoot better?  :dunno:

OR% is based on the percentage of our misses get rebounded - not pure quantity.

In conference games prior to yesterday K-State is 2nd in dEff and 3rd in oEff.  Yesterday didn't hurt the dEff numbers any either.

The reports of the death of the junkyard cats have been greatly exaggerated.

Conference games only.

.97 points per possession - Tied with KU for best in the league.
47.3 opponent's eFG% -  3rd in the league behind KU and UT.
51.4 FTR - 1st in the league.
40.6 ORB% - 2nd in the league behind KU.

Still pretty Junkyard-y.

driven by efg% not oboards and ftr.  deff has nothing to do with it.

Someone needs to define junkyard cats for me, I thought face chewing oppo TO% etc was a definitive piece of the formula.  :dunno:

6 games since ku.  43.9 ftr, 35.7 orb%.

the ftr may just be noise, the orb% i think is meaningful.

maybe in other threads, but not in this thread.  in this thread, it's about maintaining a high oeff via oboards and ftr rather than efg% and/or low to%.

plus, our top five eFG% games were away games... which bodes well for our prospects in the big12 tourn, and the dance... something special happening here fellas  :kstatriot:

how many open 3s did Tech pass up last night in favor of contested midrange jumpers?  prolly wouldn't have mattered last night as they couldn't hit crap.

I got angried up every time Kelly or Colon charged out on Darko like he was Voskuil though, only to let that Tech Czech drive around them.

Quote
This isn't the Princeton offense that Martin is running. Martin believes in getting up as many shots as possible, not passing the ball until the shot clock is in the final five seconds or until an easy layup comes available off a V-cut or backdoor cut. Some old-school fans may 'ooh' and 'aah' at that type of basketball. That's the type of offense that will get Bob Knight to jump out of his seat courtside and applaud. And that's fine. But that's not the way K-State is going to play as long as Martin is here.
