Kim English was on and is apparently great friends with Selby. Confirmed that Selby absolutely hated the KU experience and was promised things that didn't happen. One of the guys on the show is a KU guy(don't remember which name) and wanted to know what Kim meant(coaches, fans, teammates). Long awkward pause and said "yeah, uhhhhhhhhh, pretty much everything......."

Read elsewhere the ku athletics isn't paying up to KU Parking, while I don't know the details I suspect it has to with things like the parking garage next to AFH.   Putting KU parking services in a big financial bind.

Selby came to KU to showcase his talents on a national TV stage.  Other than the USC game, he looked like an average talent chump when he saw the floor.  KU won over 30 games and Selby had almost nothing to do with it.

LOL at self not being good enough to start at a real school

When did CStew play at Broken Arrow?  His hs team may have played against seff's team, right?  Stew's team prolly won since didn't even go to the NIT for his first 5 yrs.

I wonder if Martin asks seff how hard it was not to get to any TornAments his first 5 yrs...and then chuckles a bit.

Not a fair comparo as they are two completely different coaches.

Martin came into a struggling program, albeit he did inherit Beasley and Walker for one year, but mostly takes lower rated recruits and gets them to preform at a higher level than expected.

Self inherits a program set with rich tradition and all sorts of built in mechanics to ensure success no matter what. Could sit back in a lazy boy all off-season and still pull in 5*'s(if he would accept the new way of basketball and not try to trash them to get them to stay longer than a year or two) but somehow manages to take all that talent into the tourney as a top 3 seed every year  and get knocked out by a mid-major(what 4 times now?)

Don't confuse the ease of Seff's coaching spot with him being a great coach.

LOL at Ben. Classic projection. Seff is a god, and having rosters full of 5-star players doesn't have anything to do with KU's success.

Squawk fans continually delude themselves. "Those guys will suck after Huggy leaves." "They'll suck after Beasley and Walker leave." "They'll suck after Clemente leaves." "They'll suck after Pullen leaves." They can't bring themselves to believe that the primary driver of our success is Frank Martin. They don't want to believe this, because it means K-State will continue to be good, and it means Frank Martin is able to get more out of 3-star players than Seff can get out of 5-star players. Deep down they know this, which is why they were so excited when they thought Martin might be leaving for Miami.

Squawk fans keep drinking the crimson and blue kool-aid, having forgotten that Seff was inches away from losing to Davidson. What if they had to add Davidson to the list that includes Bucknell, Bradley, UNI, and VCU? Or what if Chalmers hadn't hit that buzzer beater? Twice in that tournament Bill Self was seconds away from being a loser, and twice he was saved. That National Championship bought him lots of goodwill, but some of the more rational fans are realizing that that was a fluke and that flaming out to mid-majors is more the norm with Seff. A KU grad friend of mine finally got fed up and gave away his KU gear after the VCU embarrassment. Now Seff is even having trouble recruiting, something that should be automatic at KU. The elite prospects have finally wised up. Why play for a coach who habitually chokes in the NCAAs? Not to mention kills your NBA draft stock? Josh Selby knows all too well.

Your confused face confuses me. You said pretty much the same thing a few posts up.

Anyone know how many lottery picks K-State and Mizzou have produced over the past couple years?

 :gocho:

now compare it to tourney wins and let's see who's the best coach

Are you saying Frank Martin is a better coach than Bill Self?

Self led Tulsa to a 32-5 record and an Elite Eight.  Also, thanks for admitting that KU's program puts K-State's to shame.

I think his system sucks and is mid majory, I don't think anyone else under utilizes talent and athleticism the way seff does year to year

Yeah, his system sucks and he doesn't utilize his talent... that's why he has seven straight conference titles, a national championship, and the most wins of any program over the past five years.

So you support Massa throwing his players under the bus for personal gain? Disgusting.

Self has had four lottery picks in the last two years.  What are you talking about?

At the very least, they're equals.  Both have coached 1 player that has gone to win an NBA championship.

So Self got one tourney win per lottery pick. Does not bode well for next year.

Looks like Franks tornament win:lottery pick ratio is another indicator that Frank's better
