i hate that stuff takes so long to build.  why?  seems like there is hardly anyone really working on the project.  hire an army.  have them really get to work and knock this thing out in a weekend, etc.

I like when I drive by construction sites like this and they have what I would guess is their expensive tools or something hoisted up with the crane or forklift or whatever the tall thing is so nobody can steal them/it (see pic 1...apears they have someone's golf clubs and pull cart up there in this instance).

Usually, the main hold up is concrete. Take a long time to cure. That and rough ridin' inspectors.
Title: Re: practice facility
Post by: pissclams on June 27, 2011, 12:39:14 PM
so the culprit is concrete?  we should hire some jackass to sit around and cure concrete all day then.  or for that matter, have one of the idiots in the business school invent some concrete that cures in 1-2 minutes maximum.  if the concrete cures in > 2 minutes, you get your money back that was paid for the concrete + a 20% bonus on top of that.  also, you will get your name on a wall-of-fame at the concrete factory of people who's concrete took > 2 mins to cure.

i did some rough calculations and calculated that approximately 2 people (may be actually 1) per year may have concrete that > 2 mins curing time based upon the calculations i did about the concrete invention.

also want to say that i'm not surprised it's the concrete.  every story i've ever read about it tells me not to trust it.

One time I helped sdbro put up a new mailbox post and we used this stuff called quick-rete or something.  maybe ksu should look into it.

i've toyed around a little in that stuff.  don't even think i'd build a squawk bbhoops facility with it, to be honest.

solution is the new sub 2 min concrete from Calvin Hall.

Had a teach working on >2min concrete when I was at KSU.  Don't think it ended up well.  Big Concrete prob torpedoed the effort.  Big Concrete won't stand for new designs and new companies messing up the current corrupt system of having to wait for concrete.  The waiting is where they make their money.  Time is money.

We should have the NBAF people run over there and work on it. I mean, we all know NBAF won't be open for like 3 years anyway...so why not help out with this?

Eventually Big Concrete will just sell preformed slabs cheaper than 1.5 minute concrete.  Don't you just love capitalism?

hhmm, yup another concrete noob has been outed.  concrete gets weaker over time.  aging it only ages the facility and makes it so it's going to need to be demo'd sooner.

not only that, sub 1.5 min concrete is said to be the strongest building component known to man.  not sure why we would use anything but sub 1.5 min crete.

Try getting someone to actually deliver 1.5min conc.  Big Concrete owns all the trucks.   :kstategrad:

Maximizing his travel like a boss. Probably got tipped off by goEMAW on the Chase Sapphire 100k deal and is first classing it. Also, probably staying at a couple different SPG spots and racking up the stays.

Meanwhile, KU is still paying off Lew's private flights to get his mutt groomed, just putting lil bros AD further in the hole.

While we are down there (and while we are waiting for that concrete to cure) lets feed some pipes under OOD that we can feed meat goat crap stench through and have it come up under the OOD for right where the other team's bench is. Scare them with meat goat stench and never let them forget who we are.

We can pump good smells to our huddle and the seats. Hell, may want to go meat goat stench all the way through for more home court advantage.

Also could be a good opportunity to create the underground railroad for chickens to get into the KU game.
