Or because when we had it, one of them selfishly walked out on his teammates to pursue his own personal gain.

Sorry, but Ted Sims could barely hold Pierce's jock IMO.  We don't lose to Marshall, Texas, and OSU in 2003 if Pierce stayed.

Agreed. I was pissed that Pierce left, but no way Sims was on Pierce's level.

I wouldn't put it that way at all.  Beasley and Walker left, but nobody would dare call them pricks for it.  There are legitimate reasons for leaving, not the least of which is risking a major injury playing another year of college.  In hindsight, I know he wishes he had stayed though.  I don't know if you saw the thread way back when where it was explained that Snyder didn't really council him on it at the time or in any way ask him to stay.

agreed....or Bill could have decided to run Sproles instead of Schwinn. Either way, he saved Ell for November and December. Glad he did. Imagine if he would have been injured for the year against Marshall.

Pffft!  I'm sure the guys who post on that site would be much more inclined to support the idea of Ted Sims being a better linebacker than Terry Pierce.  I think Trim should go over there and see if he can get some BBBS donations.

Well, the debate going on was about Terry Pierce vs Ted Sims, and your post insinuated that those who would prefer Sims are the ones donating, and those who would prefer Pierce are the ones not donating.  Someone linked to the caste football racist thread, and I joked that the guys on that site would much prefer Sims to Pierce.   :dunno:

No, the debate I was referencing was football/fff/dlew vs. hoops/sys/tortuga.

And taking Sims over Pierce has nothing to do with caste.  Last time I got an update from ChiCat on how his top all-time KSU linebacker rankings were coming, TP wasn't even in the top 75.

OK, that's cool.  I can see that angle now that you mention it.

All I'm saying is that just because you personally don't like the guy does not mean we can pretend he was less of a college football player than he actually was.  I'm not into revisionist history.  And LOL at Pierce not being one of the top 75 KSU linebackers.  You have got to be yanking my chain, no?

8. Kansas State -- K-State's front seven struggled last year, but will get a big boost from Arthur Brown. One man won't be enough to totally fix the Wildcats rush defense problems, though. K-State gave up 26 more yards on the ground per game than any other team in the Big 12 (more than 231 per game) but Brown may be playing in a 4-3 next fall rather than the 4-2-5 the Wildcats have employed since Snyder's return. Alex Hrebec, Emmanuel Lamur, Tre Walker and Blake Slaughter will likely fill the rotation along with Brown.

this is why former players and not journalists should be writing this stuff.  It's a joke.  The fact he ranked OSU and KU's LB ahead of ours is maddeningly insane.  OSU lost two long time starters in their LB corps and he's riding Lewis for that 4th place spot.  Ummm, no.  They lost all of their leadership at the position.

Our starting LB unit will easily be the 3rd or 4th best group in the conference.  btw, after the scouts got a look at Artie during spring he's gone from 13th ILB to 5th for his draft.  Walker is shooting up on their lists as well but still has a ways to go.

Mizzou and Okie Lite both lost two starters in their LB unit.  Goodsen and Lewis are good, young players for their respective units but the others are unknown.  aTm isn't great at that position and just lost their top player with the 3rd pick in the draft.

ISU's Knott and Kline are good but I question whether they are NFL talents.

Tech is very average at that position.

The only two I can see that would be head and shoulders above our unit are OU and Texas.

Name the others please.

This is going to be a very good starting LB group for us.  Yes...top 4 in the conference, definitely.

Our LB's being coached by Chris Cosh automatically puts them no higher than 6th. Maybe 5th if AB goes into beast mode all year. It doesn't matter how solid of a player you are if you're always being put out of position by bad coaching schemes.

Edit: To answer your question, UT, OU, A&M, and ISU all have much better LB crews. OSU and MU are probably better as well, but those are more along the lines of a tossup. I do agree with you that KU being above us is a joke.

yes on OU and UT.  I think ISU's is better by virtue of experience and proven production.  Can you name one starting LB for aTm without going to their roster...if not then your reasoning for matter of factly stating "much better"?
