KSU won't have an Elite Basketball camp this summer. It's not coming back. Coaches don't view the event as a productive use of time.
from cassidy.
-
Bill Walsh said "there is a significant price 2 pay 2 b the best.that price doesn't Nclude unproductive ELT cmps."
-
Why settle for an Elite Camp when a Father/Son Camp is available?
-
Jesus Christ they might as well break out the neck braces. :goodbyecruelworld:

Now I'd like to welcome to the very productive Wildcat Warmup stage, Head Coach of your Kansas State Wildcats....Frrraaaank Maaaaaartiiiiiinnnn!!!!!!

i would direct blame at the ncaa, not the staff. but i dunno, maybe they could be doing more, trying harder, etc.

Cancel the basketball practice facility immediately, put a portable court in the indoor football facility, and move all the funds over and put them towards the new press box at the football stadium.

where would the elite camp be held in MHK? did NCAA revoke the rule that camps like these can't be held on campus? or is the elite camp something different than what I am thinking the NCAA banned?

Summer 2012. K-State Basketball Coach Frank Martin stands on the balcony over looking K-State's palatial new basketball training facility. Below him the Frank Martin father-son basketball camp is underway on the shiny new floors of the dual court facility with retractable glass dividing wall. Moments later athletic director John Currie walks up to Martin, places his elbows on the railing and looks out over the gathering of sweating sons and dads.
Frank: Looks pretty good huh John? But some of those dads are really struggling.
Currie: Yeah, hope we don't have to haul them into that state of the art training room we just built in this place. (following the action below) Oh, have they got your new 65 inch flat screen installed in your office now Frank? If so, I bet those kids would love to go up there and play a little X-box (sarcastic smile), or maybe you can let them play that on that upgraded projection system we got you in the film room.
Frank: That's not a bad idea John, the new screen is great, and I love the surround sound in our film room.
Currie: (still staring down at the comings and goings below) You know, nothing makes me happier than to pay to cool this place all summer long for father son camps and some pick up games, really gets you in the heart you know what I'm sayin (still looking below).
Frank: (pulling himself upright from the railing, Frank stare): What are you tryin to say John?
Currie: I’m just sayin it’s great that these families and are our current players have such a fantastic place to call their summer basketball home. I’d hate to think (putting fingers in air) “outsiders” like Elite prospects might be brought in here to take up space and of course your time.
Frank: (intense Frank stare) I don’t think I like your tone John.
Currie: (walking away) Better get back to your father son camp Frank.

if ku didn't have manning in lawrence all summer with nothing else to do, they'd cancel theirs too. their list is a joke. they ncaa is rough ridin' kansas schools with both ends. team, state, conference.

Between rusty and dax in this thread it's like watching old tapes of Jordan/Pippen.

sys, bring me up to speed on how the NCAA is messing with the Elite camps . . . because if that's the reason why we aren't doing it anymore, I will have to feel :frown: about what I posted for 13.7 seconds.

they outlawed paying anyone associated with a recruit to work camps. which was the vehicle schools used to pay for the travel of non-local recruits.
when schools like ku & kstate hold elite camps now, they can only get locals, rich kids & credit card churners to attend.

Maybe they should just jack the cost of attendance way up and find some rich kids willing to walk onto the team.

Coaches used to bring in high school & aau coaches to work elite camps, often they would bring their players in with them. That killed elite camps. OU hasn't had an elite camp in 2 years now, it was so long ago. Ages, ages......
