Just picked up A Game of Thrones (and the next 3 as well) about 2 weeks ago. I'm hooked.

wait, so he's still writing more? the series is unfinished?

I'm about 3 quarters of the way through GoT at the moment. awesome as advertised.

started reading the first one and got bored and quit about the time the girl's firend and dog are killed for biting that guy or whatever.  is it the same from that point on or does it get better?

Gets better once you get through the initial half. Once crap starts hitting the fan, it doesn't stop.

King did this with the Dark tower series and JFC, it ended poorly.

once he wrote himself into the story I threw the book across the room as hard as I could and quit reading.  what a rough ridin' boner.

King would have been better if he had gotten back on blow or if the van finished the job.
