No way.

Wins against Tech and Baylor (it's at home) and I bet we beat either A&M or CTR.

We get swept by the south

not so fast.  i posed this question to football gods.

Me:  football gods, can baylor win in Manhattan yet?

football gods:  not yet.  they put in a down payment but that's on lay-away.  they still owe dues.  btw, while we're talking we gave aTm too much earlier in '01 and '05.  we're still debating whether they get to win in manhattan again or if that should occur at a later date.

Me:  thank you football gods.  take care.

Their defense is going to struggle. Lost a lot of play makers. The Chamber should unload on 10/1/11. :emawkid:

jeebus.  Baylor had the perfect personnel to beat us last year.

Our M.O. last year was the power running game, period.  We had 3 interior OL who were plodders but were very good at the point of attack and we had a kid carrying the mail who was a stud between the tackles.  But Baylor had a 1st round 3-4 type nose in the middle (the best 3-4 nose in the draft).  Defensively they simply minimized our power run game.

Offensively they were loaded.  1st rounder at tackle.  playmaking receivers and a gifted duel-threat QB.  Our defense was crap.

I see two problems playing them this year...they will still be explosive in the passing game and improv running from the QB....how much better we'll be able to stop it remains to be seen but I know that we'll have better athletes in players like Art and Meshak and more depth up front and they're less one 1st round OL.  I worry about corner though...but we were probably worse at that position than we should be (I emphasize "should") this year.

Defensively it will hurt them not having Ford in the middle but, again, we lost our interior three and will likely be more of a running game on the edges w/ what appear to be more agile interior (at least we should be at guard), a better athlete in Klein, and a more speed oriented back in Brown.

will be interesting to see how losing those two first rounders impact Baylor.

EKY - Feel good blowout win.  Klein looks like a true dual threat.
Kent - Closer than we would hope for but end up winning by 21.  Klein throws 7 balls in the dirt but runs for 90 and two tds.
@Miami - Feel good Aurburn type loss.  Klein has an Evridge @ NU type of performance but Bryce has a good game and keeps us in it.
BU - Loss.  Defense looks like last year's defense.  Everyone sad.
MU - Win.  Feels very good.  Klein throws for 2 and runs for another.
@TTech - Loss.  TTubbs has TTech looking pretty good.  Still feel good about that MU win last week though.
@KU - Close win in front of 25k+ fans.  KSU fans start clearing their bowl season schedules for travel.
OU-@TX - 4 straight losses.  One of them maybe close.  TX storms the field and tears down their goal posts.
ISU - Everyone freaking out about not making a bowl.  Snowing like a mother rough rider.  Klein runs for 100+ and ISU has 5 turnovers and the KSU Cats are Holiday Bowling.

Peggy Po Tucks and Sean Pawns will have another notch in their breast belts.

Negative Nancy Too Cool for School crowd will be smoking with their shades on posting up the new east side stalls complaining that nothing excites them anymore.

It is like Groundhog Day and we do it again next year.  No emotion, no excitement, no change.  Just mediocrity and lack of direction.  At this point I would almost rather just have Snyder try a Sean hand off to spice things up.  Would at least cause people to get angry about the crap sandwich we are being fed.

I think my post best describes .500 football.  7-5 or 5-7 would give a slight edge to either side. <4 or >8 wins and we will begin to enter very dangerous territory psychologically.

9/03 - Eastern Kentucky W
 9/10 - OPEN
 9/17 - Kent State W
 9/24 - at Miami (FL) L *
 10/01 - Baylor W *
 10/08 - Missouri L *
 10/15 - at Texas Tech L *
 10/22 - at Kansas W *
 10/29 - Oklahoma L
 11/05 - at Oklahoma State L
 11/12 - Texas A&M W *
 11/19 - at Texas L
 11/26 - Iowa State W

I think we end up at 6-6, but anywhere from 9-3 to 3-9 wouldn't really surprise me.  IMO, our first "definite loss" game doesn't come till OU.  Wouldn't that be fun being undefeated and bowl eligible on October 28th?  You bet it would!

Anybody who expresses any more certainty about the impending results of our season, in June, no less, than I have is probably full of crap.  Tons of unknowns, especially concerning the O and D lines.

Like I said, I bet we end up at 6-6, but that is strictly a guess.

I either want our season to go really well or really poorly...go big or go home.  6-6 would be the worst thing that could happen, probably.

As long as we beat KU, right?  Right!

Meh. I don't think I could take going 3-9 or 4-8. Would take 6-6.

I hate our rough ridin' schedule. If you make TTU a home game and OU an away game, and make UT a home game and ISU an away game we go 8-4. As it is, even though I think we might actually be good, we'll almost definitely go 6-6 and get shipped off to some extremely cold climate to attend the goddamnsmalltimeyhorseshit bowl presented by smellylosers

Worst yet; it could be in a baseball stadium filled with snow and we lose to a low rated team that got their last bowl win from playing us.  :horrorsurprise:

Quote
Sep 3   Eastern Kentucky blowout; give up rushing yards; illusions of passing game emerge
Sep 17   Kent St. comfortable but depressing 48-24 kind of win; ugly offense/terrible run defense shatter illusions after two weeks of breaking down grainy footage of opener
Sep 24   @Miami (Fla.)   2009 @ OU kind of loss; bag of tricks on offense; Miami makes mistakes but gets tons of big plays; anger still misdirected at Cosh
Oct 1   Baylor    Lose but "should have won if we get a damn stop he should be fired shut up snyder trusts him and is old and stuff
Oct 8   Missouri   Win by 10 or so. run out clock in fourth quarter. tucks triumphant.
Oct 15   @Texas Tech   Loss. We suck on the road.
Oct 22   @Kansas   Win. Tucks declare season more or less over.
Oct 29   Oklahoma    Destroyed. Everyone blames Venzy and Mangino and Stoops because they stole our recruits. Jordan Phillips mentions spike. What happened to Blake Bell? rough ridin' Ron Prince ruined our Wichita recruiting. We always got those kids in the past.
Nov 5   @Oklahoma St.   Why in god's name would anyone expect us to win this game? I mean, of course we could "buy wins" if we had a corrupt moneybags.
Nov 12   Texas A&M   We all expect to win because we beat them the last two times. We don't.
Nov 19   @Texas   We all expect to win because we beat them the last three times. We don't. Texas fans "get our meat goat" by remaining unaware of actual goings-on on field due to extensive making out with blonde babydolls in tiny shorts/chaps.
Dec 3   Iowa St. Win an incredibly boring game in front of overwhelmingly white/stocky crowd full of seed caps; both coaches take teams out for pizza/ice cream after.

Maybe we beat Baylor or aTm at home?

Road games at UT, UM, and OSU are definite losses. Roadies at Tech and KU are probably a split. Home games with Baylor, Mizzou, and aTM are winnable but 1-2 seems most likely. Basically, we have about three games we "should" win. That sounds like a terrible, depressing season.

If we beat UT again this year it will officially be the most ridiculously streak in conference history.
