Title: Open At Your Own Risk- Terrible Content Inside
Post by: pissclams on June 08, 2011, 08:03:11 PM
Apparently, a former Duke basketball player and team captain was suffering from depression and committed suicide yesterday in New York City by jumping off the roof of the New York Athletic Club and falling 10 floors.  It's absolutely tragic that the man couldn't have found help before taking his own life.

Fast forward to today and the Phog.net Hoops Board where you can find a thread titled "Duke Suicide" Link Here (http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=172&f=2481&t=7580552)

These savages from the KU board seem to think it's funny to celebrate the sickness/depression of the man and make fun of his death.  It's absolutely unbelievable.  Taken from their site-

Who in this thread was beyond the point of diapers when this guy was at Duke?  Not news, IMO.

Despicable. It's sad that the only thing they have to make themselves feel better is making fun of suicide victims.

Come to think of it, I guess I shouldn't be so surprised.  These are the same scum that celebrated when we lost one of our own in the Cat Tracker accident...

grumblings that they are now making fun of his overall lack of athleticism and that if he was able to jump further off the building Self would have bothered himself with recruiting him and he would have ended up at KU instead of Duke and thus wouldn't have had reason to become depressed.

Truly low.

If you jump off a 10 story building, you really want to kill yourself.  None of that pansy "swallow a fistful of pills" bullshit.

If find it interesting that a snakeman like sys would have such a soft spot in his heart for their mortal enemy, the hawk.  It's a long strange trip, gentlemen.

Jayhawk fans are awful.  I can't imagine what they would have done with the Brook Berringer story if a couple of them cared about football.  Would have been appalling.

normally i'm not very tolerant of people that kill themselves, but this guy and the baby falcon were born to soar with the eagles.  how can you blame them for their hubris?

I know this for fact to be true as I live in Overland Park, the girlfriend wears Duke gear more than I do at times and she'll have people start running their mouth to her, she'll pipe up but she's 5'2 105 soaking wet, but when I show up next to her they seem to not have a lot to say then! Bunch of **** tards ****** fo sho!

Will be praying for these KU "fans" as well.  I wonder what Bill Self would say if he saw that...

With Duke being a sister school and all, I feel like I was very close to this kid through watching him play.  He was a great kid and a pleasure to watch grow up.

Thoughts and prayers with his family, the Duke family, and the DevilCat brethren.

It's things like this that make me wish the internet was never invented. Sure there were some people like these out there before, but it's like the anonymity gives people the "courage" to be so despicable. It really is sad that someone(let a lone an ENTIRE group of people) could act like this at a time of great tradgedy.

Not sure why, but the above line killed me.

Probably only funny if you're familiar with the old HBO series The Wire and Bunk Moreland was the poster.
