going into a game 1.
A few things. A poke fan poster came on GPC claiming to be Hunter Davis' bro-in-law. Said Hunter's up around 270 now (not fat)...he played around 255-260 last fall. The kid is already as big as Beisel was as a senior and runs just as well. Ian Seau played last fall around 250-255. I believe these two will play this year as they are ready physically and are gifted in their ability to burst and run. IMO Klein moves to LB..I think his skills are better suited there and he runs really well. I placed Darryl Blackmon in the strongside DE depth position but I see him as redshirting and possibly moving to OT. I believe Allred stays on the DL and starts at nose. I placed in bold all of the new bodies available for this year (also bolded kids who redshirted last year as well).

I wish Meshak was heavier, right?

I wish Meshak was heavier, right?
Meshak has a few things going for him...brute strength and long arms. Dude was benching about 450 this spring at 235lbs..he's one of the strongest on the team. sure, you would like to see him put some meat on his lower half but he'll still be a good player. Florida State had a 230lb DE last year get 14 sacks and he wasn't a 4.4 type guy either.
-
Lamonte,
You can do it, with help.

cautiously optimistic.
I would classify myself as optimistically cautiously optimistic.
This is the best trio of starting LBs since 2005 w/ Reggie, Diles, and Archer. I think it will be our best DL or at least has the potential to be the best DL we've had since 2004. Now that defense wasn't great but it wasn't because of the DL.
My hope is that Darious Thomas rejoins the team in the fall. He's still in the white pages while others who left the team are no longer in them. I think it's possible his academic suspension had less to do w/ grades and possibly more to do w/ what happened w/ Josh Moore. When that occurs I believe you are suspended for two semesters. Anyway, if he rejoins the team you could see Thomas and Chapman as the starting corners w/ Garrett moved back to safety w/ Zimmerman. That secondary has a shot at being pretty solid IMO.
-
Other than Arthur, Darious is the best we've got.
We will wait for you Darious.

if you saw some of the shirtless photos Meshak used to have up on his f-book you would amend that statement. promise.

god bless you The Manhatter

aaaaaand that is depressing.

Looks like we finally have some depth, with a little talent sprinkled in, in the front 7.
Count me in as :powerespect: for this team. Pretty sure we're gonna score lots of points again.
-
We should score a bunch. If this defense can just be mediocre we should have a solid season.

Why do you say things like this? Why do remain happy about the state of K-State football?

Scariest part is they all had a cup of tea in the NFL. I thought out side of Diles they were insanely untalented (Archer) or under preformed (Reggie).
-
Didn't Archer play in the league?

Because I'm a fan of the KSU Wildcats and I'm not a Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!)? :dunno:

Career history
Indianapolis Colts (2007)*
Minnesota Vikings (2007)*

Washington Redskins (2008)*

I actually missed the part of Wiley's post about a cup of tea. Still, if you think a dude that spends time on practice squads or whatever is extremely untalented, I question your ability to judge talent.

I said nothing about talent. Let alone "extremely untalented". But go ahead and continue to destroy "extremely untalented." Should be a pretty satisfying argument with yourself.
-
Wasn't talking to you. And I guess the quote was "insanely untalented." My bad. Butthurt noted.

Actually Diles is currently with the Texans and Reggie is with the Cardinals. I guess I'm struggling with how they were bad players at KSU and manage to stay on NFL rosters for 3 years (Reggie) and 5 years (Diles)? Archer wasn't insanely untalented, either. You do realize there are other players on the defense so 3 players don't make up for the other 8?
-
These kids are gonna pop some pads this year!
-
I think Diles was even the starter last year, though that was due to what's his name (Cushing?) being suspended.
-
I think the question we should be asking is...do we have any LBs this year who jump when they sack the QB?
-
Cosh 'retiring' after this season and that OB DB coach becoming DC is also another scenario.
-

Diles was starting at the beginning of the 2009 season and was leading the team in takles before he broke his leg. Had a bit of a drop-off in 2010 but still started like you said. Saw his play time lessen towards the end of the season.

confirmed.
