"A hot discussion topic among some KU boosters has been how the ticket-skimming scandal and the premature departure of former athletic director Lew Perkins combined to affect giving to the Williams Educational Fund, the prime vehicle for donations to the athletic department.
Marchiony contends that it hasn’t. He reported this week that giving in fiscal year 2010, which ended June 30, 2010, totaled about $14 million and that fundraising is on pace to match that this year.
Other financial records, available on the department’s website, present a different picture.
Audited financial statements show that current pledges to the nonprofit corporation that supports the athletic department fell from $12.4 million in fiscal year 2009 to $6.3 million in fiscal 2010. That fiscal year closed about four months after the suspension of Rodney Jones, the now-imprisoned former Williams Fund director, and public concern began to grow."
Nice try by ku PR guy to paint a picture of normality.
BONUS: Nice pic of Lew

1st visual that pops in my head as I read that is Lionel Ritchie singing the first line of We Are the World. How many stories of Douglas County despair can one take?

If you've followed KU athletic financial reporting over the years, you'd understand that nothing makes any sense at all with them.
I once again give Lew all the credit, because I am convinced he and his lemmings had nothing but fun with numbers when it came to the books and he made sure a crap ton of that cabbage made its way into his bank account.
To Lew Perkins!! :drink:

The $6 million dollar question is: Will ku football slam the door shut on fundraising for another year? Everyone saw how quickly the fan base turned on Rev. Gill last season. Alternatively, will the ku fan base, moved by this year's equivalent of "Blue Wings Rising" pry money out of their collective low incomes to give to ku?
-
Did anyone else notice that one of the Twins authored the story. Surprisingly well written for half of a pair of neanderthal, pee brained, nitwits that didn't graduate high school or finish D1 athletics with a degree.

Story not bylined to mongoloid Markieff Morris.
