TITLETOWN - A Decade Long Celebration Of The Greatest Achievement In College Athletics History => Kansas State Basketball is hard => Topic started by: pissclams on May 11, 2011, 12:16:48 PM

First of all, I hate posts like this. But, here goes, as it's time.
The overwhelming increase in negativity around here needs to be dialed back a bit. It will require some action on our (the moderators) part, and on your part, too. It was a tough finish to a great hoops season, and a disappointing football campaign. We get it. So does everyone else. The disappointment isn't a topic off limits, but just drop the constant harping and player/coach bashing. If we see a continuing pattern from a user, you may well disappear for a while. Or longer.
And, for fans of schools other than K-State, your leash is much shorter. And, no, this board, just like life, isn't fair. But, post here at your own risk. Any timeout you receive will likely be long, and perhaps permanent. Tough.
How 'bout them Wildcats?

Great idea for a t-shirt.
Also... "Tom Light's Sunshine Pumping Wildcat Corner" would be a great board name.

that's funny that you say that because i just sent in a copyright for a new t-shirt idea that says "Pump sunshine up my ass or you will be gone. This is your last warning."

Would be a perfect question to ask during the first interactive webinar.

I kind of agree with pissclams. When people started going negative, I it gave me chills, and not the good kind. I mean, yes, it is good that we’re more tolerant than other message boards, but ... think about it. We're just using that as an excuse to be negative. Just like squawks. We think it is tacky and classless when squawks do it, but it's acceptable for us? You've been watching too many Chuck Norris movies, man.
pissclams makes some interesting points.
I am reminded of a certain poster who no longer comes on here, who back in 2006 was pretty moved by a movie about a certain African nation called Rwanda where a genocide of almost a million people occurred. Back then, we thought the killers, who were called Hutus, were the "bad guys," and the victims, whose were called Tutsis, were the "good guys."
Well, now it turns out that the current president of Rwanda, Paul Kagame, a Tutsi former member of the RPF that helped bring the original 1994 genocide to an end, may be brought up for war crimes because there is sufficient evidence to support claims that within the last 15 years he has launched a retaliatory genocide against the Hutus, sending forces to pursue them into the Congo, and killing almost as many Hutu men, women, and children as there were Tutsis killed in the original genocide.
So if these accusations bear out, all the good will the Tutsis garnered by their suffering will be forgotten, as they are now the aggressors, the killers.
Granted, our situation is a little different, but if we were the just message board we pretend to be, we would have both positive and negative. Granted, it ain't as satisfying as when Rutger Hauer says "F*ck the bonus" in Wanted: Dead or Alive, but it is an action representative of the values we claim to embrace as goEMAW.com.
How are we now acting? Like bloodthirsty mongrels, dancing, chanting, celebrating, because of negativity. It's kind of scary. We should be relieved, yes, because our tolerance allows us to be negative, but celebratory? I think that is the point pissclams is making.
-
if that is the point pissclams is making, then i'll apologize and take my medicine like a man. but, i honestly doubt if pissclams has the intellectual wherewithal to make that point.
-

Hold the phone.
Isn't this "pissclams" a sock of the real Pissclams that died in 2009?

this is pretty much exactly the point that i was making. sorry if my original point was obtuse.

Go, fight, win Everything K-State . . . daisy's in gun barrels forever.

Sometimes when things get you down, you just have to run your fingers through your supple mane, shake it out and walk away. She'll be back. EMAW is a hell of a girl, she's complicated, she's a challenge. She's not like the other ones. Sometimes she will break, but she can be put back together with enough love. It just takes enough love.

choose your words carefully, the mods are having a contest to see who can ban the most users over the next 24 hours. again they welcome all opinions, but will not welcome folks coming here to bash this site or drag down every thread. following the quatz is to be fun and they will do their best to keep things that way here.

i have been waiting for this day. it's like on the Wire when all the dealers got busted in hamsterdam. entrapment works :woot:

Not that I was ever a poster that mattered on here, but yes, I hate the negativity and fear mongering that goes on around here. It leads me to posting very rarely, and reading very rarely. It's like people only join this site so that they can spew venom and stir up conspiracies. It's a bit morose.
Go Cats!

This thread reminds me of those really cool times I had as a site admin and moderator.
I'll let you know what those are as soon as I finish this drink.
