"There are a lot of guys who would kill to be in the NIT in their second year," Knight said. "Everyone wants to go to the tournament, but from our standpoint and how we're trying to rebuild this, it would be a great honor to be able to go to (the NIT)."

Nomination accepted but just remember we haven't heard the last from Doc yet.

Yea, they're called NAIA players
-
I could see Wooly saying that
-
That is very good, but I still vote for Doc's "we're so bad, everyone is going to give us their best shot" quote.

Yep. Nearly verbatim.
-
“If we continue to practice hard each and every day, I believe this team has some good fortune ahead.
also I'm gonna go ahead and believe these originally came out of Doc's mouth.
“Basically all the ranked teams we played this year, we played right with them,'' Henry said. “We're still believing and have confidence in ourselves that we can still beat these teams.
“We're that close. We just have to get over the hump and we'll be successful.''
and this
We feel like we're a good team,'' point guard Lance Jeter said. “We aren't catching those good breaks.
-
Another great one from Knight:
"If you take the Missouri game, the A&M game and Texas game here at home, one good play or two good plays here, we're looking at being 7-5 instead of 4-8," Knight said. "We're close."
Nothing like the "we're a couple plays away from #-#" or "we're close" quotes. Classic SLTH.
-
Wooly had me brainwashed in 2005-6 that the NIT was an okay "step".
Remember when we spanked A&M in the Big XII Tourney and got snubbed ....FROM THE NIT!!!!!! and we were pissed because the prestigousness of postseason had passed us by.
Wow. Now we're looking at a 2 seed in the big dance. Pinch me.

Honestly, just some of us were upset. Most fans were pretty much off the wagon at that point, and rightfully so.

you idiots still don't know what slth is and isn't. it's time to just give up, you're never going to figure it out.

Non-SLTHs sometimes make SLTH quotes. Both Knight quotes are in this category IMHO.

nope. being enthusiastic and making the most of whatever situation you're in aren't exclusive slth traits. any coach would do the same.
which is the common theme to all of the supposedly slth things people throw up great slth quotes. they aren't, they're any-coach-in-a-slth-situation quotes.
-
Enthusiasm about the NIT, I'm with you. That makes sense for SLTH and non-SLTH alike.
But the entire genre of "we're close" quotes is owned by the SLTH fraternity.
JMHO.

seriously _FAN, you should just listen to sys here since he's basically the king of slth's (if he was a coach, which he's not). _FAN you coach, are you a slth?

True. He was one of the early leaders in getting slth out there.
And I try not to be, but I think all of us have a little SLTH in us.

yeah, that one is.

did he just throw Bob under the bus w/ the "re-build" comment? bet bob goes dick cheney on him next time they go hunting
-
Pat Knight has been talking about how "some of us are working hard to get that NIT bid" for a few weeks now.
-
Bzdezlik has a great one about still playing to win in the Star today...anyone see it?
-
LS, I read that quote while sipping on my elite Filling Station coffee.

The Gamecocks are 11-6 overall and 1-3 in SEC play. “We’re four possessions away from being 4-0, that’s how fine a line we’re walking,” Frank Martin said.
