It's been 15+ years since I've been and I want to go back but I don't want to be near fat, sticky, loud, toothless hayseeds that bring their funnel cakes and fat sausage fingers on the rides with me. This is a problem. I just want to ride a roller coaster in peace with other clean, ultra-sophisticated EMAW's. :(

I'm pretty sure those are 60% of the people that go to any amusement park. You should just take flying lessons or go skydiving or something.

Why haven't you rented the place for a private party yet? IRS has a freeze on your foreign accounts?

Go during the week. Much less people, shorter lines.

World of Fun? More like Worlds of Dumb. Save your money and just pretend to have an ounce of class for a minute. Do you see guys like Brad Pitt at amusement parks? What about David Beckham? No, the obvious answer is no. You don't.
The point of going to an amusement park is to be amused. Change what amuses you or just relegate yourself to your natural lot in life- hanging with the sausage fingered hayseeds and meth heads who think the line at the Orient Express is mecca.

Yeah - we could get real weird with it. We could get one of those old time photo thingies and then ride the Viking Voyager.

There's this giant barrel ride thing at WOF that you just get in and it spins around real fast and you like stick to the walls and stuff... well I like puked on it when I was 10 and the puke stuck to me and it was funny/horrible.

Confession, I don't like roller coasters or the spinny twirly rides either. whew I feel better.

Worlds of Fun is actually pretty good for a place like KC. Certainly not a world class park but it has some good rides.

Zam BeeZee Zinger was the greatest thing WoF had going for it. They should have taken out the timberwolf to make room for the mamba. Timberwolf is crap. Also Spinning Dragons? More like Spinning This Ride Is A DRAGons, lolmirite?

Don't get me wrong; I love me some Mamba... But front row of Patriot feels like what I would imagine riding in a fighter jet would feel like.

amazing. you must play tons of rct3.

The key is going on all the stupid little rollercoasters at all the parks you go to, helps boost your credit count.

Used to. Game is too unoptimized, once you hit 3000+ guests performance goes to hell, even on my computer

haven't been in twenty years. i'm sure it's every bit as white trashy as i remember it. i don't care. i do have two little kids and pass through kc enough over the course of the year that i am thinking about getting season passes. any thoughts from people that have been or have taken kids there would be welcome.
-
The one time I got to go as a kid I didn't think it was white trashy :embarrassed:
-
Its not bad for a "local" smaller type park. Not much EMAW there usually.
-
I once rode the spinning barrel thingy, that has the floor that drops out, like 14 times in a row. Also, always hated waiting so long in line for the Orient Express and Timber Wolf.
-
The one time I got to go as a kid I didn't think it was white trashy :embarrassed:
looking back on it, i'm pretty sure it is/was. i didn't think it was as a kid either though. i loved that place as a kid. guessing i got to go closer to five times.
you can get four season passes with free parking for less that $300. seems like a pretty good deal. i'll probably be in and through kc at least five times between april and october so if four people went four days total that would be sixteen days which ends up being less than $20pp/day. seems like a good deal.
-
Love it! Mamba and dip in dots. If you're lucky the timberwolve will completly derail this summer :crossfingers: it's getting up there in age. Also, Pro tip- don't do the guess your pitch mph machine, that mother effer is rigged out the ying yang!
-
I got an Omaha zoo season family pass 2 years ago....I have no kids :surprised:
-
also, oceans of fun? that place seems like it would be pretty horrible with a couple of little kids. you can add it to the wof pass for like another ten bucks a person or so but i'm guessing i don't want to. seems gross. thoughts?
-
yeah, seems gross. do not do.
-

Don't do it! White trashy doesn't even begin to explain that place. I almost flew off one of there slides one time and died. Don't do it rick, just don't do it!
-
man oh man, this is going to be great. can't wait for KCompton's finest to show rick daris and family a great time at WoF next summer. if they ask you what set you claim, just make something up but try to make it sound official.
-
amusement parks are definitely white trashy, but i'm a fan. the best part about season passes is that you can stay only for a couple hours per trip and not feel ripped off.

this is a good point imo. I would hate to have the pressure of feeling you need to see/do everything.
-

So how do you organize your trips? Do you wake up and have a craving to see some giraffes?
Or do you separate your day trips to a different type of species?
Seems real weird if you're not a vet or something. idk though.
-
I will mainly hit up the gorillas, aquarium (penguins  ) and whatever we catch at feeding time. We go about once a year.

this is exactly where i'm at, but would love to hear from someone that has taken kids there within the last ten years.

Oh.
Then why a season pass?

don't let sd fool you here. he has Pro Tips for people that have never been that include which parts to go to first.
-
I went to the Omaha Zoo in 6th grade on a field trip from Sioux City, Iowa. We watched that Ed movie on the way there (Joey from friends, and the ape that played baseball). I wore my brand new black nike shirt and I got poop'd on by a bird. I was the laughing stock of the whole trip. Kids gave me crap for weeks. That zoo will never have a chance in my book. :embarrassed:

I have a KC Zoo pass and it gets me into Omaha for like $6. Gonna go this year(say this every year but haven't been yet).

rumblings the kc zoo is sad and makes people feel bad for the animals and junk. confirm?
-
for such a big zoo, the kc zoo sure doesn't have a lot of animals.
attn kc zoo: you're a zoo not a marathon course. get some more animals. dumbasses.
-
Parents get those season passes and just leave their kids there all day, seems like a good idea.
-
one time a peacock flew into the polar bear exhibit at the Omaha zoo and the bear ate it. that was free with price of admission.
-
KC zoo is better for the animals than the people looking at the animals. Most of them have a shitload of room.
-
haven't been to a zoo in 20 years. i see all the animals i want to right here, on this message board.
-
One time at WoF I rode the one spinning ride that is like inside that little house/building and my wallet flew out of my pants into the seat but I didn't know it and then I realized it like 10 min later and I went back and somebody had turned in my wallet but the 50 bucks that was inside my wallet was gone. Yeah I'm a pretty seasoned Ride Warrior, so if anyone has any questions just let me know.
Side Note: Oceans of Fun, like most/all water parks, is a cesspool.

To my credit I was coming down from a 3 day bender, I have no control of my greasiness after paking that hard!

you still didn't riddle my riddle, walky mcwalksalot. also, the kc zoo would easily be the worst out of the five that you've apparently been to, so calling it "great" is more than misleading. i'd call it flat out lying personally. this is the internet though and full of faceless names and such so i kind of expect it.

Loads of great memories of Worlds of Fun. I will probably go more over the next year as well....haven't been in about 10 years.
The season pass thing is per person, right?
Would be nice to be able to go over there for some later evenings, when the place is clearing out.

yeah. right now it's 75/adult and 60/per kid. free parking if you buy a season pass.
-
In the 2 years I lived in Omaha I went to the zoo 3 or 4 times (no kids), it's a great zoo, plus baby gorillas
Pro tip: If you get the season pass unlimited imax movies are included (imax with orphan baby elephants and gorillas  the baby part not the orphan part)
Pro tip #2: get imax tickets early it usually sells out
-
good pro-tips from raquetcat here folks

there was a this american life that featured worlds of fun not too long ago. liked hearing a local treasure being presented to the world.

With rides like The Thunderhawk and The Patriot, WOF is about as American as the 4th of July

yes, true rags to rags story. iirc there's a (much older) epi in great bend/hoisington involving prom/tornados. i couldn't really get into the amusement park one. sorry wof dude, i was probably distracted or something.
-
go to worlds of fun at night, many shitty kids are not there and camp snoopy erupts into a wonderland of visual excitement. I think it's camp snoopy that has the neat lighting. Check with staff about camp snoopy being wonderlandish at night prior to visit.
-
SPOILER:
Omaha zoo's large glass dome is just a desert with minimal animals and various desert plant things. NOT EPCOT SPACESHIP EARTH.
ALSO:
Epcot spaceship earth is NOT EPCOT SPACESHIP EARTH, if EPCOT SPACESHIP EARTH meant a place for fun rides and spaceships and aliens.
can confirm grossness of oof. did not take my own advice here and should have. wwf is a little better than i expected and oof is maybe a little grosser. i've been to both recently so hit me up w/ any off or wof questions. i'm now the board expert.

Last time I went to WoF they let a mentally challenged person cut in line in front of me (Mamba). The line guy said it was their policy to do that. Then they asked her if she wanted to ride again, and of course she did. You guessed it, park policy. I gave up trying to ride the Mamba.
