Title: Worlds of Fun
Post by: AppleJack on May 09, 2011, 02:32:35 PM
It's been 15+ years since I've been and I want to go back but I don't want to be near fat, sticky, loud, toothless hayseeds that bring their funnel cakes and fat sausage fingers on the rides with me. This is a problem. I just want to ride a roller coaster in peace with other clean, ultra-sophisticated EMAW's. :(

I'm pretty sure those are 60% of the people that go to any amusement park.  You should just take flying lessons or go skydiving or something.

Why haven't you rented the place for a private party yet?  IRS has a freeze on your foreign accounts?

World of Fun?  More like Worlds of Dumb.   Save your money and just pretend to have an ounce of class for a minute.  Do you see guys like Brad Pitt at amusement parks?  What about David Beckham?  No, the obvious answer is no.  You don't.

The point of going to an amusement park is to be amused.  Change what amuses you or just relegate yourself to your natural lot in life- hanging with the sausage fingered hayseeds and meth heads who think the line at the Orient Express is mecca.

haven't been in twenty years. i'm sure it's every bit as white trashy as i remember it. i don't care. i do have two little kids and pass through kc enough over the course of the year that i am thinking about getting season passes. any thoughts from people that have been or have taken kids there would be welcome.

looking back on it, i'm pretty sure it is/was. i didn't think it was as a kid either though. i loved that place as a kid. guessing i got to go closer to five times.

you can get four season passes with free parking for less that $300. seems like a pretty good deal. i'll probably be in and through kc at least five times between april and october so if four people went four days total that would be sixteen days which ends up being less than $20pp/day. seems like a good deal.

I went to the Omaha Zoo in 6th grade on a field trip from Sioux City, Iowa. We watched that Ed movie on the way there (Joey from friends, and the ape that played baseball). I almost flew off one of there slides one time and died.

That's because you're so rough ridin' greasy, per filly.

To my credit I was coming down from a 3 day bender, I have no control of my greasiness after paking that hard!

you still didn't riddle my riddle, walky mcwalksalot. also, the kc zoo would easily be the worst out of the five that you've apparently been to, so calling it "great" is more than misleading. i'd call it flat out lying personally. this is the internet though and full of faceless names and such so i kind of expect it.

Loads of great memories of Worlds of Fun.  I will probably go more over the next year as well....haven't been in about 10 years.

The season pass thing is per person, right?

Would be nice to be able to go over there for some later evenings, when the place is clearing out.

I have a KC Zoo pass and it gets me into Omaha for like $6.  Gonna go this year(say this every year but haven't been yet).

rumblings the kc zoo is sad and makes people feel bad for the animals and junk.  confirm?

I never do, but maybe that is more of an indictment of me?   :dunno:

yeah. right now it's 75/adult and 60/per kid. free parking if you buy a season pass.

In the 2 years I lived in Omaha I went to the zoo 3 or 4 times (no kids), it's a great zoo, plus baby gorillas

Pro tip: If you get the season pass unlimited imax movies are included (imax with orphan baby elephants and gorillas   the baby part not the orphan part)

Pro tip #2: get imax tickets early it usually sells out

With rides like The Thunderhawk and The Patriot, WOF is about as American as the 4th of July

yes, true rags to rags story.  iirc there's a (much older) epi in great bend/hoisington involving prom/tornados.  i couldn't really get into the amusement park one.  sorry wof dude, i was probably distracted or something.

go to worlds of fun at night, many shitty kids are not there and camp snoopy erupts into a wonderland of visual excitement.  I think it's camp snoopy that has the neat lighting.  Check with staff about camp snoopy being wonderlandish at night prior to visit.

SPOILER:
Omaha zoo's large glass dome is just a desert with minimal animals and various desert plant things.  NOT EPCOT SPACESHIP EARTH.
ALSO:
Epcot spaceship earth is NOT EPCOT SPACESHIP EARTH, if EPCOT SPACESHIP EARTH meant a place for fun rides and spaceships and aliens.
So I never finished better than 4th at the Grand Prix Raceway, and I always considered myself a pretty good driver...
I always seemed to get the "slow car."    :flush:

How did you guys do?

also, oceans of fun? that place seems like it would be pretty horrible with a couple of little kids. you can add it to the wof pass for like another ten bucks a person or so but i'm guessing i don't want to. seems gross. thoughts?

yeah, seems gross.  do not do.

can confirm grossness of oof. did not take my own advice here and should have. wwf is a little better than i expected and oof is maybe a little grosser. i've been to both recently so hit me up w/ any off or wof questions. i'm now the board expert.

Last time I went to WoF they let a mentally challenged person cut in line in front of me (Mamba). The line guy said it was their policy to do that. Then they asked her if she wanted to ride again, and of course she did. You guessed it, park policy. I gave up trying to ride the Mamba.

Oh man it’s about to get super racist/prejudiced in the replies and on FB, news story comments. Very similar to the plaza kids near McDonald’s and the movie theater in 2010.
