This seems to require a dece amt of pre planning which seems to be against everything that the margarita stands for.

Also, cilantro-lime rice is fantastic.

Do you put Jalapeno in everything you drink?

And something with the word "Cooler" in it doesn't seem like it would have spicy peppers in it.

not everything, just these two specific drinks that feature an alcohol that is indigenous to a region where chiles are a very integral part of the cuisine

it cools you by making you sweat (see other hot places in the world and their cuisine)

There is no good mezcal. Although it is better than sotol. They use the crap to kill rattlesnakes for fucks sake. Big tubs filled with the crap, find a snake and toss it in and boom goes the alcohol poisoning.

gatos montes, you're insane if you don't like good mescal.

of course i knew to use pink lemonade.  duh, i'm not a noob.  seeds  in the jalapeno?

there's a place in kc (westside local) that uses fresh jalapeno in their ginger beer.  it's infused when they make the g beer.  awesome stuff.

I keep the seeds personally.

Cuervo is my normal go to but it's for a Christmas party with the fam and mom said to "get good stuff and I will pay you back" expects patron but I assume there is something better for the price since its more or a rapper trendy drink

1800 wouldn't be a bad get. I don't know why you'd waste Patron in margaritas. Should probably just drink it neat and use the crappiest silver tequila you can find for the margaritas and tell everyone it's Patron. Literally no one will be able to tell.

There really isn't though, you can get Patron silver for $35 at Costco.  Don Julio is good but is more expensive.  Milagro is decent if you can get it at a good price ($25/750ml).

I've been sipping bourbon for the last couple of years and getting kind of getting bored with it. So, a few weeks ago costco had Hornitos reposado on sale and I bought a 1.5L and really enjoyed it. Shots and sipping. Then I bought a liter of Kirkland Anejo. I really like it, and want to explore more good aged tequilas. Whats the best tequila you have ever sipped?

It doesn't look like they still make it, and I'm sure it was tasty, but I want a 100% blue agave, aged a few years. I have to say, if you're not an experienced tequila sipper, try the kirkland anejo for $20. I know it probably isn't even close to the high end stuff, but it has made me want to explore the tequila world outside of shots and margs.

Alcohol does not get worse with age. It can be a bottle that was opened 100 years ago and it would still be good.

Can waltz into almost any costco (depending on state laws) and tell them you are only buying booze and they let you in w/o membership.

Not tequila, but it's related and I didn't feel like creating a new thread.  Tonight I am trying out my first mezcal de pechuga (this one distilled with chicken). We'll see how it goes.

WTF!  Isn't mezcal basically tequila with the agave worm in the bottle.  This is from google:

So tequila is a type of mezcal, but mezcal is not tequila, and only mezcal has worms. According to Anthony Dias Blue's Complete Book of Spirits, that "worm" is actually a larva from one of two types of moths, known as maguey worms, that live on the agave plant.

PS:  Drank a lot of tequila and mezcal when I was living in New Mexico.

Most mezcals don't have a worm in them, but I believe one of the reasons they were put in there originally was to prove it was the proper proof.

Among other things, tequila must be made from a very a specific kind of agave, namely blue agave.

Wow it's very different than anything I've ever had before.   This one is very cinnamony and a bit sweet.

The first sip took me aback a bit. I've had quite a few mezcals before, but nothing like this.   Sip two and I could appreciate it for what it was and I really dig it. Smooth as all hell.

Did the chicken come through?
Not really, I guess it's in the viscosity more than anything

Del Maguey makes a Pechuga Mezcal. As does Xicaru. Both are available in KS. I have had the Del Maguey one but it was a long time ago. The Xicaru one is fantastic. Xicaru actually adds the chickens to the still.
