Title: Stupid, unaware people
Post by: OK_Cat on April 29, 2011, 09:29:28 AM
a woman I work with might be the most unaware, stupid person I've met.

yesterday, a group of us were talking about the tornados in the south, and she literally had no idea what happened.  Today, the "hot topic" was the royal wedding, and again, she had no clue.

This woman never watches the news, reads the newspaper, etc.

How do people live in today's world and not have some source of news outlet?  Blows my mind.

why should she know or care about crap that has no impact on her life?  you seem like the stupid one here.

Had I not gone to my parents for Easter I would have never known about this dumb wedding.

Still don't understand this Royalty thing.  I mean it had significance back in the day.  Now they are just given free cac everywhere they go and given a red carpet to walk on.   :dunno:

I'd love for someone to clear up the relevance of Royalty to me in this generation (specifically in the UK since they have democracy).  TIA

didn't intend on turning this into a royal wedding thread, but the braintrust at goEMAW missed the point.

i would have watched the royal wedding had it not been so early.  pretty interesting spectacle.

Peasants don't understand.  That's ok.  Just don't kill us when times are tough.

Back on topic, you probably could have just named the thread "people who actually get selected to be jurors."

I was really hoping this thread would be about people in public places that stand there with their mouth open staring at things, totally oblivious to those around them.

We have a British lady in our dept. There's been at least a dozen people today come and ask her if she watched the wedding. She might kill someone before the day is over.

oh, good one.  or people that are walking down the sidewalk/in a store with their head buried in their phone.  hate that, but love watching them bump into people.

while lack of world awareness is a bit disturbing, it would disturb m more if she knew nothing of the storms but was all over the royal wedding.

I would just feed her a constant line of bullshit about current world topics.

"Hey, did you hear about Toyota closing down because of the nuclear meltdown? That warranty on your car is about to become worthless."

Don't knock it until you try it. Do it sometime and you quickly learn that no one will bug you.

Does she have any hobbies?  Knitting?  Cats?

I hope she's not allowed to vote.  This is why we need tests for such a thing.  Then again, I'm not surprised you know people like this in Oklahoma.
