I hope he doesn't redshirt.
based on the lack of ability to get consistent seperation at the wide receiver position I would use his big play potential 10-20 snaps a game at wide receiver. Give him some reps at QB, too.
If Miami and OU want you as a skill player other than QB chances are you may have some abilities elsewhere. I don't know...perhaps use the resources you possess as a coach?
Anybody think Sams might be a little dangerous on the middle screen? bubble screen? etc?
-
Starting day one QB
-
The reason for my answer is two fold:
1) Daniel Sams is really good
2) The rest of our QBs are absolute dog crap
-
If I were Chris Cosh: Free Safety
If I were Sean Snyder: Gunner
If I were Old and Ballsy: Scout team backup
-
Starting day one QB
-
If he's indistinguishable from what we have at QB, start him. If he's worse, redshirt.
-
REDSHIRT

REDSHIRT

me thinks Oregon is a clear example that if you have a 3 down threat home run hitter at RB and a few decent weapons at receiver you can have trash at your QB and still be successful.
watching the national championship game this past year was a clear example that you don't need a roster full of stars to win big...just a few difference makers and a lot of vets. Outside of a few key personnel the NFL views most of the players on Auburn's and Oregon's rosters as trash.
I can't believe Oregon won that many games the past two years w/ Derron Thomas and Masoli as the passers.

With Sam's long stride you can only be reminded of "Q" on the WR slip screen.

He was a punter in HS. Good to have him handle snaps.

Long snapper!

and Bender placekicks for his HS team. We could go for the most athletic punter and kicker combos evs.

W(hy)TF would anyone want him to redshirt?

What if we set those 2 up both in shot gun position and we hike it to them depending on which play is called either could throw hand off or run with it. Good god can you imagine the head aches defenses would have trying to decide who to key on? Maybe split into a wishbone formation only with out a FB or QB just both set up as running back but could throw or run out of it. I'm going to start an e-mail campain to Snyder right now with some play concepts and this will give him a year to implement the plan.

IKNOWRITE!?! I think it should be called the double wildcat option :surprised:
-
Put him on the front of this year's KSTATEO poster.
-
Greyshirt
We can't develop any egos in this team.
-
Sams should just be given free reign to do whatever he wants to do all day every day. He should play any position he wants to play, run the plays he wants to run, and Bill should just STFU and deal with it.

If sams doesn't redshirt he is going to be ruined

I don't want to waste one second of his abilities playing anything other than quarterback.
If he's not playing quarterback this year, redshirt him so he can play quarterback next year or the year after. Don't screw with his development so we can go from a crap bowl to a slightly above crap bowl.

Are you kidding? Darron Thomas was a four star recruit with offers from Florida, LSU, Miami and Nebraska. He had a 62% completion percentage and an efficiency rating of 151 this past year.
On the other hand, the big "savior" Sams wasn't even offered as an athlete by in state LSU.

normally, I'd say play him, but I have to agree with this.
-
The Manhatter forgot which team we enjoy watching.
Dream big, man.
War Eagle.
-
I'd redshirt him. Especially if Old Man River is considering using klien or if Tugjob is any good, might as well stretch out our decent qb's lifespan as much as possible.

I hear that!
I'm holding out hope that we actually have a good QB in him and considering how poor QB recruiting has been under OB, I want him playing there only and for as long as possible. Either he starts this year and we deal with the good and bad or redshirt his ass.
-
Depends. Does he do things the right way??? If he does, he can play QB and option to the short side of the field 16 times a game. If he doesn't, then he should sit and watch until he does. Either way we will lose many games with our crap staff.
-
I'd like to see him at the 2.
-
It depends on what he actually looks like in practice. If he has the makeup to be a starting qb right away, I'd give him a shot. If not, I would have him either redshirt or use in multiple facets, like having him in a wildcat package or something. Though if Klein/Tuggle are good enough with the option and what not, there's no real reason to waste a year or eligibility on him.
Too bad he's not here for the spring, that would have really made it interesting.
-
He's probably going to be absolute garbage.

seems likely
-
If he's good, I see his career playing our like Ell's as far as development goes. It may take a year or two in the system before we see consistent results.

Imagine the "Danny White" quick kicks on third an long.
-
Let's be practical about this. Can anyone imagine a scenario where Snyder does not start Klein for the entire season? I cannot.

yes. I can see a scenario where Klein starts for x amount of games but then we struggle and he trots the second string guy out there for a couple games until its obvious it didn't help. Klein starts the rest of the season at that point.
-
Have to think bill will use klein to burn clock and limit opposing teams possesions the old bastard is so arrogant he thinks he can play offense and defense with his offense

Well, sadly, he kind of has too. That's Bill's fault, though. Make no mistake.

Will gladly take the Pepsi Challenge: Which is the better defense? :blindfold:
A. (Chris Cosh's defense)
B. (LHC Bill Snyder's offense)

LHC Bill Snyder's offense, not even close.
Here's a tough one (kind of):
Better defense?
A. Chris Cosh's defense
B. Tim Tibesar's defense
Actually, not that tough at all. It's Tibesar. Congrats, Ron!

Somewhere in Iowa, Bobby Elliott is laughing at us.

true story- i had a dream last night and sams was in it. we were running sprints. it was me, sams, and a third runner unidentified. i won the first one, his buds said he wasn't trying. he tried extra hard on the second one and beat me. i won the third one.
i'm obviously very fast and in shape but damn.

Sounds like a waste of talent to me. You could have gotten a full ride to college!
