the only
bad disappointing thing about beating ou is that billy tubbs is not still their coach
-
Hey, Billy's a bad mother fracker, and you'd better leave those double-breasted suits alone.
-
Absolutely love Billy Tubbs. One of my favorites of all time.
-
Hated him while he was there, but he won and wasn't dirty. In contrast in that from his contemporaries like Brown, Williams and Stewart.
-
how the hell can you not like that guy? the conference needs more guys like him or needs coaches to quit being so nice to each other. would make it far more entertaining.

BT was responsible for bringing Big 8 basketball to a nationally recognized level. Tubbs was a star and he recruited stars. He was responsible for KU shiotcanning Ted Owens and hiring Larry Brown. Much like Frank, the LBBIQ types accused him of lacking coaching skill and playing "streetball". Hardly the case.
He made Norm Stewart recruit harder in Detroit. He moved Jack out and Lon in. The guy was incredible.

I mostly remember one of his star players spitting on ours during games, some driver hitting him while he was jogging, and this:
MANHATTAN -- When Billy Tubbs left Oklahoma and the Big Eight for Texas Christian five years ago, he said one of the joys of the move was outposts like Manhattan, Kan., in his rearview mirror. http://www.encyclopedia.com/doc/1P2-7378230.html (http://www.encyclopedia.com/doc/1P2-7378230.html)

Tan Tom on Tubbs:
"I don't want to put a knock on Tubbs, except he's a jerk, an idiot, a negative recruiter and a real turd," Asbury says. "Other than that, he's not a bad guy."
