More proof that he is greasing the skids to push Frank right the eff outta town.
http://www.1350kman.com/news/?p=3452 (http://www.1350kman.com/news/?p=3452)
How in the eff is he firing the damn Director of Ticketing to save money, does he plan on not having anyone run the ticket office? If it was just about money why were these people fired 3+ months before their contracts were up? Couldn't these people be fired in May when the athletics season is over for all intents and purposes? Football renuals are coming soon and he fired the ticketing director. :dunno:
-
I've heard the ticket lady sucked. No?
-
am I the only one who does not see the connection to rough ridin' over Frank? Any insight would be helpful...
-
I've heard the ticket lady sucked. No?
I've never had a problem with her, but that's not the issue. Did you read the article, he said the firing was not because of performance? The issue is that he claims that it is a money decision, if this is the case then he isn't going to hire another ticketing director correct? He fired the damn ticketing director right before NCAA Tournament ticketing and football renuals. He fired her just before the busiest period in the office because of money although he still will be paying her to sit at home on her ass in this important time. Would make sense if she sucked, he said she didn't.
He's full of crap folks
-
Who cares
-
am I the only one who does not see the connection to fracking over Frank? Any insight would be helpful...
He contradicted himself in his own release, confirming the reports that either he is stupid or full of crap.
eff did any of you read the damn article before commenting? Too dense to see the obvious bullshit in the release? Yes, lets trust Currie, he answers his email.
-
Of course he's not going to give the actual reason he fired her if it's performance. :users:

yes i read it. But i guess i dont have it out for the guy. But feel how ever you want and act like a douchebag.

Agreed, I guess, but if she sucked why issue a press release that states she didn't suck? She ran the damn ticket office, no one would have cared. Again the focus should be on Curries inability to shoot straight.

I have no issue "having it out for the guy." He sucks and that won't change if he signs Frank.

Eight people? Damn.

it's kinda weird.

Clearly, this is the only response:

Ford is considering closing its Claycomo Auto Factory in North Kansas City. The Claycomo Plant Manager's secretary's son was a Delt at K-State (which has since been closed - coincidence...). That kid now grooms Kurt McGuffins dog who eats food purchased from the new Pet Smart in Manhattan. The same pet store where Frank Martin bought his daughter's pet turtle. And John Currie eats at the Little Apple Brewery every second tuesday of alternating months. And so does Dalonte Hill. So, John Currie is covertly trying to run Frank Martin out of town.
-
The eventual net savings will be approximately $310,00 annually.
What did Frank want, $400k? We're almost there! :pbj:

FACT!...The economy is in shambles.

Look no further than the newest additions to the AD, look at what they do, and then look at the people who were let go.
This really isn't rocket surgery folks.
I do feel badly for one person who got canned . . . because I think it was solely because her boss got canned as well, and IMO he did her no favors . . . plus the previous regimes did these people no favors.
-
I don't know why everyone is so butt-hurt about this. :dunno: My job is super slow and I might get laid off because of it. Secondly, I'm sure they can handle selling a few tickets to NCAA or whatever considering they're going to have to be able to do it w/o them in the future. Meanwhile, the people fired get to look for jobs while still being paid.
$300k added to Franks contract would probably be enough to make him happy

Shut up! Step back from the computer and walk away now.

this was a REORGANIZATION, which means these duties have been shifted to other personnel.
6 people lost jobs, 2 empty positions will go unfilled.
Curry is doing the responsible thing.
Good to see Cavello is gone, buyt I still wonder what the deal is with Epps.

Yep. Same thing happened in my office recently, where they let go the Director of Sales who was pretty much a tiger shark simply because she made too much money. Shifted a couple of people around and presto, instant savings (and more work for everybody!). :users:
-
So, the athletic department you've taken over has just been fleeced by the tune of about $5 million by a corrupt former school president and his corrupt former athletic director, a former football coach, and the other former athletic director that was paid hush money to "go away" to Dallas to shuffle papers at the Big XII headquarters by the aforementioned corrupt former school president so he could replace him with the former athletic director.
You've got a basketball coach that needs a substantial raise and you're trying to fund a $20 million practice facility.
Yeah, I can think of a few reasons you may be wanting to take 300K in annual salary off the books right now, and none of them have to do with greasing the skids to push Frank Martin out the door right now.
-
Business is business...you've got to use your available $$ the best way you can. Currie is doing what he can to get Frank and his coaches more money, and to keep the wheels on the AD financially.

Are we going to forget or ignore that he has recently hired 3 new people in the department and I believe that 2 of those hires were for new positions? I'm having a hard time determining when "fiscal responsibility" starts and stops.
If my opinion seems to really offend some of you, kind of makes it more relevant, thanks

When you're, "The Man", fiscal responsibility is what you say it is. As long as the bottom line looks good/better you've done your job. :frown:
-
he let them go, but they get pay until june. so the department saved money in the next fiscal year with the reorg and also allowed those employees (now former employees) to basically get a free paycheck for about 3 months while they find another job. that's not a bad or unfair deal at all.

Nice work translating Make it Rain's logic. I was lost until I saw your post.

Me too. If we're referring to the same person, she was good people
-
Is it possible that they are freeing up money in the Athletic Department so they can give Frank a contract extension and a raise in salary? Quit melting down over nothing... you guys are winning right now.
-
the ticket office has been a disaster for as long as i can remember. this move needed to be made whether it was for money or not.
-
I bet this guy was all :runaway: when Prince fired Shorty

I don't think MakeItRain used the best example to support his anti-Currieism, but he's right. There's still just as much weirdness* going on up there, and we're still paying every coach we don't give a crap about while Frank's in limbo.
*non-"transparent"

firing laura tietjen was literally the best decision of all time
huge c-word that rhymes with punt

This, Trim is smart and stuff.
I came out a bit too aggressive and it dilluted my larger point that some were clearly too stupid to understand. I'll try again
firing adminstrators under the guise of saving money while at the same time hiring new highly paid adminstrators thus blowing the money you supposedly saved=giving new contracts to coaches that aren't in demand in sports that lose money while the best coach hired in 20 years is made to beg for change like a bum on the streets.
The guy has not made many financial decisions yet but the ones he has made seem a bit contradictory, no?
-
This is going to turn into a PR nightmare for Currie. He's looking for his next job as the "turnaround guy." Probably reads lots of Jack Welch too just like Scarey Smart did.
-
Rain . . . what don't you get about what occurred during the previous regime and the fact that many of these people were right in the thick of things during that time??
"previous regime" consisted of about 4 people, none of which are the ones that lost their jobs thursday. Just because they were employed by KSU Ath at the time doesn't mean they were "right in the thick of things".
-
weren't the people that currie hired to replace people that were lost/on administrative leave? so now he fired more people to save money...and gave them until june to get another job while getting paid.
epps and cavelto (sp) are gone though epps is still on "admin leave", correct? so currie hired two people to "fill" those spots/duties, then fired more people and reorg'd.
christ, of all the things to be upset with about currie, this isn't one of them.
-
thoughts and prayers, captain.

I still don't see how firing the ticket lady has anything to do with firing the Men's BAsektball Coach...
Don't dorget about the $20 mil. practice facility that Curry is giftwrapping for Frank. Seems like a silly move for an incompetent jagoff who doesn't know crap about supporting a basketball program.
Maybe Curry just likes the smell of freshly sawed wood.

MakeItRain has acknowledged the ticket lady situation was a poor basis for his Currie jag.
I didn't take this as gift-wrapping a practice facility:
once we feel like we've got a financially responsible plan, we can go ahead and go.
The reality of it is that we're going to continue to explore the feasibility of the project.
http://cjonline.com/sports/basketball/2010-02-19/currie_facility_moving_forward
I think we all just wish the next and one of few times we hear from Currie is him saying Frank's new deal is done and the practice facility will be done on ______ rather than blah, blah, blah is happening in the ticket department, you can pick up your yard signs at various locations and check out my twitter.

i really don't need to hear anything more about currie to make a decision on how i feel about him. i don't like him. he walks past me every game and i just don't like him and his gangly body and nerdy pants/shoes and hair and just everything. he just seems very small timey and stuff. i just get the feeling that he's just tried and prepared his whole life for this and he finally did it but now he just doesn't know what to do. seems like he'd maybe be a good second in command but i just honestly don't see him as a leader of any sort.
-
well, daris, I think his unibrow is more criminal than his attire. For sure, this guy aint winning any beauty pageants. But, then again, Perkins looks like the imperial emperor and I'd take him in a heartbeat. The bottom Line is that performance is all that matters.
I loved how he addressed football ticket pricing and packaging. It didn't smell of incompetence.
With basketball, the facility IS getting built. That's not a question. And if he extends martins contract, it will be awfully hard to criticize currys performance as AD.
Hell always look like a need unfortunately.

I'm more inclined to make judgments on Currie based on this, rather than his decisions to hire/fire peons.

Yeah, if he didn't look/seem like such a goober, it'd be a lot easier to say "I'm sure Currie's got it all under control". As it is, I have to think "holy eff, is this guy really gonna eff this up" and hope that "Belvis Noland" is correct about the practice facility. Maybe KSU should start an "Ask Belvis" section on the site?

Maybe if you knew a little more "insidery" type info regarding facilities upgrades, you wouldn't seem so uninformed.
-
had a dream last night that I sat with Dalonte and Frank in some hotel room and was consoling them b/c Currie kept making him shitty offers. every time Currie would make another offer, Frank would have to go get it, Dalonte finally was like "man eff this". then the three of us got up and left the hotel room and went somewhere else, don't know where.
-
people need to realize the $70 facility was approved by the board of regents in 2008, how's that facility been working out for us?
-
Anyone think that douche John Currie from KSU looks like that douche Alex Michel from The Bachelor season 1?
