Title: K-State v. kU talking points
Post by: FutureCat on March 26, 2011, 12:40:55 AM
Hey guys!

I am a high school senior from Texas and I just got accepted to K-State recently.  My stepdad is an alum so I know quiet a bit about the school and i'm very excited.  Since I got accepted Ive been looking around at a few message boards and find this one to be the funniest and probably most in touch with the actual students.  Anyway I have to give a 5 minute speech for a class in a couple weeks about anything, so I wanted to give a speech about why K-State is better than kU.  Ive been reading this site quiet a bit so I can see that theres a lot of humor and camrodery(sp?), which makes me excited about the school.  So I was wondering if you could provide me with some good talking points about us v. kU.  Because this is for a class it can't be vulgar or too crazy, it needs to be pretty legit and verifiable because it will be graded.  Any good info you could provide would be much appreciated.  See y'all in aggieville next year!

Maybe I could mix in a little UT smack but I also want to be an advocate for the merits of KSU, and I can tell from reading this board that a lot of EMAW pride comes from how we are a better/more respectful program than kU.  When I tell my friends I'm coming here they always try to talk about how kU is better just cuz they don't really know anything about us.  So I need some good talking points! Some really undeniable stuff...

Nut up kid.  Seriously, nobody down there will give a crap about some random ass points you have to make about why some school 10 hours away is "better" than another school 10 hours away.  Also, it would probably be easier to represent why state is better than the shorthorns due to the recent DOMINANCE over them in all sports (which is even funnier due to them making a claim to being the best all around athletic program in the country, as opposed to Kansas where we know we suck on the gridiron, and well basically anything that doesn't involve guys playing with a basketball).

Well so much for going to bed..  And I'm not exactly sure why "by definition" you have to hate me?  I do not hate any of the cats, and respect the fanbase for the most part and can seemingly have knowledgeable conversations about college basketball with all my state friends.  Also, I'm not exactly sure where all this hatred is coming from, especially considering you live in Tejas and did not grow up having to endure the beatings the cats took in basketball and the annihilations El Roberson, Darren Sproles, Terrance Newman and co. put on my Jayhawks.

Ok, i've done some research and here are my notes:

Well I started by comparing the records/accomplishments in basketball, but frankly it was embarassing and I don't think I could construct a cohesive argument in favor of K-State vis-a-vis Kansas.

So I decided to focus on Football, since I've always heard that we own KU in football.  I was shocked to learn that:

Kansas leads the all-time series 65-38-5 :o
Kansas leads in Lawrence: 37-16-2
Kansas leads in Manhattan: 27-22-3
Kansas' all-time record is 568–550–58 (.508) compared to K-State's, which is 466–610–41 (.436)
Both teams have the same number of bowl victories, and Kansas won the Orange bowl just a few years ago!
Kansas has 8 conference titles compared to K-State's 5
Kansas has won 3 of the last 5? wtf?

All of this was pretty disheartening, so I decided to parse that KC Star article for some salient points.  However, my teacher would not approve of me claiming that polling data as scientific.  Unfortunately, the poll doesn't measure alums living in the KC area, but rather individuals who identify themselves as fans of the program.  Surely the income data for KU fans is diluted due to the number of bandwagon fans in KC who like the Jayhawks, since they are essentially the NBA team of KC, but probably don't hold a degree from that institution.  So, sadly, I was again left grasping at straws.

Now I understand why you say UT is your rival and not KU - because they pretty much own your cacty @sses in every way possible.  So, you  start threads attempting to criticize the success of the program as a way of feeling just a little bit better about your continual failures.  Because I, like Mr. Sheen, am a fan of winning (duh), I have decided to become one of the 51% of applicants who, though accepted, decide not to attend KSU.  I will now be applying to attend that winning school in Lawrence.  Sure, I will be giving up my need based scholarship at KSU, but I'd rather graduate with debt from KU than graduate from the Other SChool in Kansas debt-free. :doom:

Ben I know you're not always very smart, but one of the things that increases the difference is a post graduate degree . . . more times than not people with post graduate degree's give more money back to their undergraduate alma mater than the school they got their graduate degrees from.    Lots of K-State graduates go on to law and medical school.

Okay, well I guess if being "respectable" is being in the 70's in the Law, and in the 70's for Research Medical Schools you've got a point.

Wow, look at UNC in both rankings . . . now that's impressive.

You guys really do crack me up.  I come here for some good laughs, even when it's at KU's expense, because I realize it's all dumb "chit" anyway.  Maybe some of the more talented of you would want to provide some content for a website I'm working on?  Graham Watson and I are looking to launch a no-holds-barred sporting news website with a real blue-collar feel to it...  Crimson and blue that is, but if you mix those colors together, I guess you get limp-wristed purple right? :combofan:

I bigot ku fan.  Big surprise.

You think this "Red in Blue" website he's making is a fringe spin off of the KKK?

Pike - is that a picture of Pullen from the press conference after the Wiscy game?  When that big bad journalist made him cry ? :(((((((

Why? Are you asking for a public lynching a la every other racist squawk?

Somehow, some way I'm racist, yet you're talking about lynching me?  :surprised: :nono: Do you even have any black non-athletes there? other than your world famous theatre majors?

There really is a lot of potential; I fealt a little bad drawing it out any further.  You know - salt meet wound - it's kinda mean. I like you guys; I thought you might appreciate the style.  I also knew there were a lot of suckers here, so it was easy.  I'm currently working on some good material for my next venture: EmbryoMAW

I find it kind of odd that a KU fan would spend a Saturday night creating such a ruse and not out spending all of that money he supposedly makes.

Two universal truths of BBSing were on display tonight.  One, if you brag about how much you make on a message board, you don't make cac.  Two, if you're on a different team's board after eleven PM on the weekend, you can't find a woman to save your life.

So, kudos to you, sir.  May you someday find whatever it is you're seeking, because pursuits of this nature are a monumental waste of time and energy, and you must have copious amounts of both.

Panjandrum:

A very keen post on your part.

Your handle reflects a failed design for an incendiary device during WWII (does it subconsciously reflect a failure on your part?), and I appreciate the esoteric/obscure reference.

I am currently in San Antonio, and I have some down time at the hotel between games.  Yes, I've been posting after going out on the riverwalk.  Consider this my guilty pleasure.

Overall, your post demonstrates some good smack talk.  I think you should be able to leverage your skills successfully in your professional life.

Son, from one professional to another, I would suggest you reflect upon the gravity of this statement, and tell me what you think.

You're on vacation, in a beautiful city, on a Saturday night, and you're trying to get a rise out of KSU fans from your hotel room.

That says everything about you I need to know.

Also, you're incorrect on the reference.  Google Samuel Foote.  Since you already wikied my handle, you may as well do it right this time.

Go out, get drunk, and live life.  Don't spend it being a douche on a message board.  Aim higher.

Fact:  K-Straight>>>>Gay Jew.  This really about sums it up.
Fact:  KSU men are god fearing, productive citizens, that people across the world admire.  Men want to be them and women want to be with them.
Fact:  ku wimps are a bunch of johnson county mamma's boys who are scared to move more that 30 minutes away from the oak park mall.  Most will break down when confronted by a challenging situation like having a flat tire.

The rest you can just make up to fill your allotted time slot.  Be both convincing and entertaining and this topic should produce an automatic A.

Oh crap, here I go. I'm glad this is anonymous.  I don't wanna go googling for you, and I don't wanna stay out late since we have the early game.  All I know is that the panjandrum was a failed British breaching device during WWII.  I think you seem like a standup guy - a guy i would enjoy sharing a beer with, except for the fact that you had to say "son" - that's a  deal breaker for me.  First, what makes you think you're older than man? Secondly, God damn, what's with the "Son" thing? are you from Texas or what?

No successful person over the age of 30 would engage in something like this.  You have more important things to do with your time.  For example, spending time with your wife and kids, working on your home, working, etc.

Also, as you mentioned earlier in the thread, you didn't want to go out because you had the early game today.  Even though you stayed up until 3:00 AM, but I digress.  If you are incapable of knowing how to stay out and have a good time without feeling pain the next morning, you haven't had enough experience doing so.

Again, maybe, someday, you'll understand these things.  Until then, I'd suggest you find another hobby and guilty pleasure.  This one just makes you look like a stupid kid...even if you aren't.

Yeah...I think he is though.  The more I read through his posts, the more I'm convinced this is a high school kid that probably just got into KU for next year and is excited about it.  His parents may have taken him to San Antonio and he just wasn't allowed to stay out late so he came back to the hotel and got on here.  The fear of swearing, the misspellings, the immature comments about salary, the aversion to being called "son"...it all adds up now.

Seriously guys, let's take it easy on the kid.  I'm fine with attacking college age and older, but this just feels icky.  I mean, we can bbs with him, but let's leave the gloves on.  Don't wanna make the news because some HS kid offed himself after being bullied on this message board.  :dunno:

So where you from, kid?
